I'm a huge fan of Thaumcraft 3.0, but honestly didn't know about it back in the days of yore (2.0 and such). What exactly is the Taint? It looks cool, but I'm fuzzy on what it actually does, beyond make a nasty biome. Is it extremely dangerous?
Also Azanor you're probably going to regret that 'playtesting' comment, because your inbox is now probably absolutely filled with pleading to beta test. Because allllllllll of us want in on new Thaumcrafty goodness.
I figure, with the aura changes, you'll probably be getting rid of the crystal core... could you find a way to keep that around in some form? Even as a purely decorative thing, a fancy light source in it's extended form maybe? I love the way that thing looks. If it weren't for the fact that it would probably be insanely traumatic to my server, I'd set two of them up to pull at one node and keep them both active all the time.
Taint in TC2 was a literal biome buster/nuke. I once set up home on a hill with a jungle biome in the distance. I went to the jungle biome and there was a big cluster of Tainted blocks (think nasty purple, squishy and wet when stepped on and made the "decaying" sounds). I stayed their for like 10 minutes just exploring the ravine that was also there and the Taint growth was crazy. Cobble, trees, grass... everything was getting converted at a very fast pace. Then a Tainted Chicken proceeded to try to eat my leg. Which then, I slayed it, took its tainted innards and ran home so that the chunks would unload and the Taint would stop growing. 'Cause back then, Taint was not restricted to one area/biome. So Taint could get out of control quickly and trust me, it was never easy when it came to containing it or reversing the damage. Then there were the tainted mobs. Exploding tainted creepers only put more taint into the environment. When tainted wisps zapped you, you got the blindness effect and tainted villagers were walking gas bags of taint that felt the need to "relieve" themselves every so often. Trees became evil and sentient... yeah...
On the old Thaumcraft wiki (at least I think it was), many people made their own versions of devices to combat Taint at its most aggressive. I think they called them "Taint Nukers" lol. But you couldn't even make some of the components to them without researching them first, which took a crapton of paper/bookshelves (and possibly some Taint damage to your environment in the process).
Nonetheless, I'm still interested to see how Taint will function this time around. I'm all for adventure, perils and all, but I'd most appreciate my world not being turned into a wasteland of death and destruction.
personally my best memories of taint was my first major experience with it, was happily doing magic, using the infinite water jar and portals and stuff tons as well as quite a lot of other stuff, periodically i'd notice a peculiar purple block encroaching on my little cobble house, at first i thought nothing of it and just broke the few blocks of it that i saw as i encountered them.
fast forward an hour or two ahead and a bunch more magic and polluting and one of my friends pokes his head in to ask why i'm still bothering to try to fend off the taint and keep the place i'd built, at that point i decided i'd been working feverishly for quite a while indeed and may as well see what's up, start gathering up things to leave the base and slowly realizing that i'd only been making nicks and scratches at the problem, i'd really barely even been destroying the visible taint and before long i had to condemn the house which was by this time mostly made up of taint blocks and flee the general area.
it was a wonderful consequence to my abuse of magic and really put a good amount of fear and thought into me as well, i like that it was my doing that caused it to spring up especially, i honestly didn't mind too much in retrospect having to make a new base either as i was warned that there would be consequences for abuse.

24 hours gone again, wasted in futility, welcome to minecraft modding, that is (unfortunately) our community.

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.
there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.

In my old TC2 world, I made a really cool lab in the Nether. I built a huge Silverwood tree wrapped around it, to bring out aura, and was going to use it as my evil base.
But one day when I went back to it, the entire Nether around the area was tainted. I still have no idea why, but even the roof (and everything else but the lava) was all taint blocks for an extreme distance. Wish I had saved screenshots cuz the effect actually turned out pretty neat, but it was also weird as hell, as I hadn't done any extreme taint production or anything.
Looking forward to taint coming back, though I'm a little concerned with the new biome's interaction with biome mods. Guess I can always just stop using them, but I have gotten rather addicted to Biomes a Plenty.
personally i hope we can have a config option for classic mode taint, i.e. only as a result of too much flux or something as well as naturally spawning, i know it might be too much to ask for though.

Same here, I kinda don't wanna see all those cool biomes 'taintified". If it were to happen because I caused it, then I'm fine with that. But for it spawn naturally like it used to do (as seems like it will be doing in the next update) and start overtaking other biomes... oh boy, no no no no... (Tainted Ominous Woods... oh my god, no)
Funny... for as many problems Taint has caused me (and some others), I still love this mod. I'll take the good and the bad (and the "OMG! What did I just do?! What's going on?!" bad) any day with this mod.
@seekoutguy: yes, I did
Since I know how to use a computer I never found it. And i'm just to lazy to search it.
Btw. This is writen with the mobile phone so i can find it.
Ah this is where azanor has been, I've mostly been on the suggestion thread. Not even sure he still looks at it, but eh. When ever me and my friends play with a ton of mods they sometimes ban thaumcraft because I use it too much and they want me to focus on a different mod for once. XD
EDIT: Thaumcraft 3 needs and IRC chat, there isn't one already right?
That's thing I know, and I'm not asking for release date (read carefully before posting!).Maybe i've badly formed my question;here's it's right version:
How far is now progress in making mod?And how long I have to wait for it (days, weeks,or month/s)?
....That's just a different way of asking when is it done...
How are items' aspects inherited. Because on my game sticks have the metallum aspect. Is there anyway a user can overwrite the aspects an item has? I suspect the sticks have metallum because of a recipe from another mod, which uses a knife and things like fences and ladders to recover sticks and planks and stuff like that. So the sticks are inheriting the metallum from the knifes in the recovery recipes. I removed the mod that adds those recipes in, but sticks still have the metallum aspect, and the recipes are still in NEI, although you cant craft the items as the items from that mod (such as the knives) dont exist since i have removed it. Does anyone know how to get rid of recipes from mods you've removed?
I'm glad that wands are going in interesting direction and the crafting system is being revamped. I disliked how the crucible essential became an essentia processor or item recycler past nitor and alumentum, useful to be sure, but not very interesting. As for the third new crafting block could you give us a hint, like is it multiblock? Nothing huge
hey, i was just wondering if anyone knows what the aspects of the golem name tags are. i have the wood one which is half, and for the life of me i cant find the other aspect

Assuming you're using a standard qwerty keyboard, it's the button to the right left of enter. I was going to make a sarcastic quip about not hitting quote, but then I decided that I would rather actually offer help.
What makes you think I was ever being reasonable? I'm sitting here with a pile of guns while wearing a flamethrower, and you thought that, at some point, I was being reasonable?

I see that You better know what I mean than me.So,answer my question,as I don't need to write it here for You to know waht I'm asking for.
You're kind of arguing semantics. You're asking how much is done, and what percentage of it is done, and roughly how much longer we can expect to wait (A few days, two or three weeks, or roughly a month, but NOT when it's going to be done specifically.)
It IS, however, still asking when it'll be done. Azanor seems to be coming up with some new ideas even as he's working on this, so there's no real time frame, and asking him to come up with one could then make him feel guilty or rushed to actually meet it.
This is fun for everyone, not a job for Azanor, so just wait patiently. The way I've always seen it, if you like something, toss a few bucks in the tip jar, it makes everyone feel good.

it won't be answered. it doesn't matter how many times you ask for your realese date. the update is finished when azanor has done his work and it' just annoying that you can't get this point.
if you want to annoy people go elsewhere
so stop being sarcastic, wait for the update and don't ask onother time for the realese date
EDIT: @Vdrake77; ohps, didn't see you answered while i wrote my post (sorry)
why should he have fear of you ? are you that dangerous? zzzzz
you should be polite in a forum and not threat other people.
have a nice day and don`t annoy others
I wasn't trying to be serious/menacing/annoying, I was just trying to make a point. I mean yes the joke can be funny, but just use it at the appropriate time. you never know when a seemingly innocent joke may somehow insult another person. When I said that previous remark I was trying to be cautious to the guy, in like how you might be cautious to a friend when they're gonna try something "questionable".
