Does anyone else have a problem with balloons dropping instead of shards? this keeps happening and i have no idea why, i am playing on the new world modpack plus a few other mods I have added and an help would be appreciated
That sounds like a simple item id conflict. To fix it you need to find out what mod has conflicting ids and then change them in the config.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.
Been attempting to find a work around to be able to play thaumcraft 3 in our 1.5.2 SMP world but this ticking issue seems to be persisting, and thus far the internet has been failing on a solution to this. I'll keep the crash report as pastebin links.
But it is looking like for now we have to play without Thaumcraft 3 for now.
Some things that have been attempted to no success: Fresh minecraft_server.jar (1.5.2) and various versions of forge ranging from 7.8.0.684 to 7.8.1.738 Removed other possible conflicting mods: NEI, etc. Attempted all manor of world re-gen using thaumcraft configs Attempted Forge's error remove in configs:
# Set this to just remove any TileEntity that throws a error in there update method instead of closing the server and reporting a crash log. BE WARNED THIS COULD SCREW UP EVERYTHING USE SPARINGLY WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES.
B:removeErroringEntities=false
# Set this to just remove any TileEntity that throws a error in there update method instead of closing the server and reporting a crash log. BE WARNED THIS COULD SCREW UP EVERYTHING USE SPARINGLY WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES.
B:removeErroringTileEntities=false
Finally attempted to change entity ids in the config file.
And no matter what we do randomly we receive the world ticking error and there is a client side crash. It does not seem to be location based, and several times one player will crash right next to another that remains in game just fine.
And to be clear the other player will eventually crash, it isn't just one player with this issue.
On the server side, there is no crash and the world keeps going just fine. And the crashed player will show as the standard TCP/IP bouncycastle connection error.
Thaumcraft does work in SSP just fine with no issues, only in SMP does this issue come up.
Posting here to see if anyone has been able to get this error stabilized.
I have been playing on a 1.5.2 server that uses the up to date Thaumcraft, Thaumic Tinkerer, Atum, Biomes O Plenty, Bibliocraft and Twilight Forest for quite some time now. No problems. Try reducing your mod list and see if you can narrow in on the problem.
The problem I posted about has to do with just Aether II and Thaumcraft.

Ooo. Atum looks good. Ive been looking around for mods that add new dimensions. Aether II looked too much like an attempt at a total conversion. Twilight Forest is brilliant. The Eternal Frost looks good but I havn't tried it yet. The Carboniferous mod also looks interesting but isn't in open beta yet. Dimensions Doors' Limbo doesnt add much content except a place to escape from, but is ominous as hell. And now, Atum. Thanks!
and that for anyone wondering, is why people still browse the MCF despite the general lack of care and abusiveness of the curse moderating staff, someone's always found a mod you haven't yet, thanks for the tip farproc and krwminer, i'll have to take a look.

Hello. Quick question: Can I use anything in this mod as a weapon? Like shoot lightning or fire? Or so cool stuff? Or is it all potions and weird things?
Yep, There is also new swords and tools and other Wands, Like a wand that shoots ice-chunks and one that will replace a block in the world with a block in your inventory. It also has a cool furnace

I know this is a little bit off topic, but if you're looking for a good Dimension mod, check out The Betweenlands. It's not released yet, but they're working hard and there's going to be a lot to the mod when it's complete.
Just two quick questions: Will the 3.1 version be for Minecraft 1.6.2? And do you know about when this version will be released?
I know that it's a lot of work, but it's simply to know if I downgrade to 1.5.2 or if I wait a bit.
A bit of advice: You should probably wait for 1.7, before releasing 3.1. I think Mojang are going to change world generation in it. Don't want to see you release 3.1, and then a week after people reset worlds (If they do), they have to reset again

I think it's about time to accept the fact that there's very little permanence in modded Minecraft worlds. There's always a chance that a change in Forge or one of the mods you're using will break your world between updates. It's become so common that I've pretty much given up in being attached to a single world. Sure that's not great for my motivation to play MC, but meh.
Although Mojang will try their best not to break worlds, you still need to make a new world or generate a ton of new terrain to get most of the new content (Horses, and the various dungeon loot added in 1.6), which is one of the major problems with Minecraft IMO. It would be nice if there was some sort of intelligent terrain regeneration, but then there's the problem of it overriding player-built stuff...

I have been trying to find mods that are good AND being updated. Atum is good, but it is falling behind in the update category. On the other hand the LOTR mod, (which also is in beta like Atum), is fantastic and getting better all the time. We will add it once we move to 1.6.2.
Aether II we plan to add once we can get the compatibility with Thaumcraft figured out.
Without a doubt we are watching and waiting patiently for all the goodness Azanor is putting into Thaumcraft 3.1. No way would consider moving to 1.6.2 without it!
yeah definitely thanks for the tip on that, it's a bit primeval for our current world which is leaning more towards a futuristic theme, but definitely going to have a look at adding it for 1.6.
as far as being attached to worlds, i remember those days too.

Hey Azanor,
it would be neat if research was impermanent.
The pages that you research would literally be put into the book, and if you lose the book you lose all of your research. Copies of research should be easily made. (And would be a good idea to make copies and put it in your library.)
I just don't like how research is done and then the page just magically vanishes into nothing (Out into the magical realm of "metadata") and every Thauminomicon you ever read has the exact same research.
Because for one the current system is a bit silly and has no feeling of lore or reason behind it besides convenience, and for another I like the world to be aggressive, and resources scarce. I feel the potential loss of research would add to the depth of the game.
I don't like mods that add "invincibility" or "no touch" mechanics, because it degrades from competitiveness and challenge that Minecraft currently lacks in abundance. If a fortress is hard to destroy it should be because of careful construction and planning and not a "you no can touch" button. I feel that some philosophy should extend to research.

See, I see it as more that the book is where you put your notes... the research itself is just you learning and memorizing it. The book itself IS magical, an aid to help your memory. Which is why you can't use the higher tier stuff until it's been researched. If dying / losing your book was cause to lose all your research, it would just mean you don't ever leave the house carrying the thaumonomicon. And it also means that you can't leave it in the open or on a portrait, because someone could take it. The research itself is so time-and-resource consuming that it would be kind of awful to have to redo that whole thing all over again. It's fun the first time, after that it's sort of tedious.
The higher tier thaumcraft stuff COULD be used in griefing, but it takes a fair amount of time to get. If you could just grab someone's book and make a ton of impervious blocks or glass to place everywhere, it'd be a pain. As is, you'd have to be on the server, research it, and THEN do it. Much more time consuming.
I personally like the idea of doing the research. Sure, it seems silly, but I'm thinking of it as more learning about materials and how they combine than just a number system. More flavor text would be kind of nice. But from what I understand, research is getting an overhaul for 3.1, so we may both get some of what we want.

You know, that sounds something like "Hardcore Thaumcraft". Sounds kinda interesting, really.
PatheticVulgaris:
I really like that idea, but so much in minecraft can be breached by weighing down the W key and left mouse button. Even with bare hands a player can burrow though a 10 block wall of solid obsidian. Or, they can just get a few stacks of dirt and go over the wall.
Could I get a link to that post? I don't change a single base class, so something else must be causing that problem.
Azanor,
Just to update you. I just a PM from cafaxo, and he said that the problem between Thaumcraft 3 and Aether II seems to be a bug on their side and that they will fix it before their next release of Aether II.
Just wanted you to know, so as not to waste any time on this.

call me childish, but i giggled every time, dire said "vajra" in his lets play series, and pulled this uncanny shaped object out of his inventory.

thirded. I like the lines much better, personally. Plus, the symbols look to make it hard to see the colors.

My two cents for what its worth...
