Sure -- want to tell me how to do that? As previously stated, I'm new at this and trying to learn. I don't know HOW to use a spoiler tag -- or even, really, what that is.
Also -- I think you meant the reverse of this -- download 1.7.2 and swap it out with the 1.7.10 I'm using now.
SO, the answer to my question is yes.
Thanks for your reply! I'll edit the first post once you tell me how!
Yes, you either have to downgrade Minecraft and all your mods to 1.7.2 or find a 1.7.10 version of Mapwriter, which I think was posted a few pages back?

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.
Probably a problem with where the files are saved, for some reason it's loading both sets of files at the same time. Might be there's a conflict with the servers having similar IP addresses? Check back last page and see my posts about where it saves the map files, check those addresses against the IP of the servers you joined, see if something is weird.

I could use a little help with trying to get AnvilMapper working. I'm on linux and figured it should be straight forward to set it up because java is universal, just changed the bat files to sh and minor other things. Running the sh script didn't work for some reason, kept saying that the bin folder did not exist, so I ran the command from terminal and got the errors about mapwriter's regionmanager etc missing. I downloaded the mapwriter source, moved it into the anvilmapper folder, ran the compile command again, and it's unable to find the required files. Do I need to move the java source files from mapwriter?
Here's a full error log for posterity:

Those are chunks that will spawn slimes. Go to the full screen map (usually the M key) and there is an option for overlay, hover over that and scroll the mouse wheel to cycle through the overlay options.

Thanks for this fantastic mod. I've now replaced Rei's / Voxel map for it, though there are a few features/bugs I've come across worth mentioning:
Bug: Minimap position setting saves as unchanged if you set it to top right.
Bug: Background mode setting saves as static if you set it to panning (re-join a world/server then open the full screen map to see this).
Bug: The large map render is drawn on top of the items in your inventory bar. Screenshot
Request: Could markers be displayed in first person? Rei/Voxel shows a coloured diamond with a configurable label (none, name only, and name + distance), obviously make it optional.
Request: A marker list editor would be very helpful, being able to edit markers including their name, position, group, and colour in one form (rather than a series of individual input boxes).
Request: Remember the zoom level last used in the full screen map.
Still, big thanks for this mod. It's certainly the best map mod I've come across.
Is there any way to reduce the minimap frame? I just think its too chunky.
Would prefer an almost invisible frame around the minimap.
You can edit the graphics files as you wish, they are in the mod zip file under mapwriter-2.0.16.zip\assets\mapwriter\textures you can extract them and create your own to use in a resource pack. I expect you can just delete the border files in the sub folder and re-zip the mod files and it will show with no border, but I have never tried that.
Tried this now, but the only files located in the folder specified is the subfolder "map", and this contains only outline-files. No real textures.
Even if this way were possible, I would definitely perfer it if this was an option available for users, to select what minimap frame you would like to have.
I might be remembering this incorrectly, but I seem to remember the frame being smaller in a previous version.

Yeah it would be nice to have frame options directly in the mod. The only way i see to change it is to modify the files in the mod's zip. There are some alternate border files in the basic folder under the textures folder, they are just black lines a couple pixels wide. You can also take the existing border file and erase everything in it to leave just a transparent texture that is essentially empty and that will remove the border completely.
If you extract the zip file preserving folders with a utility like 7zip, you should get the following files in the \assets\mapwriter\textures\map folder:

Not sure what these "outline files" are that you are referring to. PNG files are graphic files, and can be opened in most graphics editing programs.
