Yes, you are doing it right -- and the files are correct -- but making the changes on a MAC is a little different.. There are some manual commands through terminal to unzip both packages to a temporary directory, and re-zip them. I guess what happens to a lot of PPL is that it compresses the root folder OF + Karyonix Fix is in, and not just the files.. Plus the type of compression used before you rename it back to a JAR is important. There is a post in here somewhere that explains it. *cough* If you want, you can D/L C4/C5/C6 from my sig already done *cough*...
The thing that is going wrong is between steps 3 and 4, the archive has all of it's files in the root, so if you then unzip that archive to a folder and compress the folder then the archive structure has changed, it's gone from an archive containing files at the root to an archive containing a single folder with it's files within that. This is the script I ran in a terminal on the mac, # Assumes that OptiFine_1.6.4_HD_U_C6.jar is in the current directory # Assumes that optifinefml.7z has been extracted in the current directory mkdir temp cd temp unzip ../OptiFine_1.6.4_HD_U_C6.jar # unzip jar in the dir above to this temp dir that we are in cp -r ../optifinefml.7z\ Folder/* . # copy the patch files to this temp dir, overwriting zip -r ../00000-OptiFine_1.6.4_HD_U_C6.jar * # compress everything from here to a jar in the dir above, # at the same time giving it the right name and avoiding zipping the folder itself. i.e. just its contents cd .. # get out and tidy up rm -rf temp Ed. added comments
THIS and THIS! ^
Thank you. Stupid small mistake. Just for future reference:
You don't need to do any in terminal. For us deadly (who don't know much in terminal), you can do this by simply, change filename from .jar to .zip, unzip, change files, BUT remember to select the files INSIDE the folder instead of the folder itself when compressing it again, then change filename back to .jar. That way you won't change the file structure. Really easy actually.
Thank you all! Shaders Mod and Optifine now works perfectly together.
So, all you people claiming reasonable FPS... are you using any mods other than forge, shaders, and OF?
I actually had better sprinting and improved first person mod on the FPS I posted on the last page. Though I feel like that the shader mod's fps has decreased. This was mainly noticeable on my old Pc(AMD A8-5500), as the fps went from 30 to 20 in the recent versions.
Also, I forgot the name of the mod that made 2d blocks like flowers, ladders, and more into 3d textures(No, not the Minecraft 3d mod by Noppes).
Hey, I'm goin gto be getting a new computer and saw this one but not to sure how good it will be with shaders so check the specs out here: http://www.bestbuy.c...=specifications
It is already good enough for gaming. However it really depend on which shader you use. For Sildurs shader pack that is compatible with Nvidia it is ok.
SEUS eats away FPS due to the water graphics.
Also you need optifine to adjust the slowdown of fps. For example adjust the render resolution and the shadow resolution. Currently only 1.6.2 version has the best compatibility. In addition, landscape with lots of chunks also lowers the fps. Flatland on the other hand does not have this problem.
For a brief summary, Nvidia graphic card above 600 series and i7 4 core is already good enough to run shaders, but need some adjusting to make the fps smooth.

Thx i was just looking at wo other computers too which seem to be really good
if u wanna see the specs of the other two just tell me

Uh, if you are leaning toward a PC for 800$, just build one yourself. Maybe even up the pricing to 200 dollars to get a system as strong as mine, and saving money.
My specs
I5-4670k
Amd Radeon 7970
Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
AsRock Z87 Extreme4 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance RAM(Shiny blue RAM, lol)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO(CPU cooler)
An MSI Blitz case with a built in 650watt modular and CERTIFIED(VERY IMPORTANT) power supply.
2 Extra fans that are LED. The case's front fan is LED
And I think that's it.
Also, keep in mind that your second option didn't say its power supply was certified(bronze, gold, ect). This means your power supply is not very good, and I can predict many bad things happening to your parts and the life of the whole PC(if you are gaming high-end). But building one yourself has it's perks.
You can use Optifine. Read Karyonix's instructions(There is a link in the OP under 1.6.4 if you actually decided to read it). And you can get a patch and instructions on how to use the patch.
SEUS displays strangely, and gives a error message:
Mr. Meep's gives a 'failed to complete frame buffer! (Status 36059)' and has a solid blue screen
Sildur's seems to work fine at first, but if you look a specific way a white haze will cover the screen
Chocapic's shaders have worked for me in the past, but according to your page they are not updated, and I can't find an older download to try.
Any help?
EDIT:Oh yeah, forgot the bump_shadow_waving things. They give a bunch of "invalid program" errors, and don't display any obvious change in the shading.
Thank you. Stupid small mistake. Just for future reference:

SUES: either you are on a mac under OSX or your grx card can't cut it, if on a decent mac you could try on windows with bootcamp works find for me on windows on a mac but not under OSX
Mr Meep: try v03.0 RC1
Sildurs: Comment out LENS_FLARE
Chocapic: Look on his Facebook page, I think, also I think he may have posted links several pages back in this thread
Ed. bump_shadow_waving ... sorry never had a problem with that one
Thank you. I'll try those as soon as I get home. For sues, I'm on a windows 8 with 8 gigs ram and intel i5 processor.

I know that building one cost less but i think it would be hard so im just looking at some and deciding which one to buy :). Which one out of those would u say? Still looking at more so i will update if there is another one i thing would be good :).
Is it all possible to disable the waving leaves and grass? I have some mods that add their own leaves and grass but they don't get the wavy effect that default do. That inconsistency is very distracting.

In my opinion, it wasn't hard. It was hard for me because I was in a tight space with sunlight shining in my eyes. I had to crouch, get low, get up, and do all sorts of stuff uncomfortably. Building one isn't hard. If I said something was the hardest, it would be the wiring. But then again, the goal for the wiring on my pc was to make it look very good. Turned out decent due to many limitations, including the giant CPU fan. It does take several hours for a first-time, and it did that to me. But easy isn't always quick(and ect). Also, having a prebuilt would mean that shipping could damage the PC, or the parts would be dead on arrival. If you want a prebuilt with my similar specs, I would prepare to go over 1k($1100(with bad/defective/short-lasing parts) to $1500+). Of course, if you get stuck, there are an extreme number of guides on the internet. Actually watched one myself, noticing that it wasn't so hard. Btw, those parts can be delicate, so shipping an entire PC would bad if the pc dropped(even with those "cushions"). Trust me, I've seen how bendy the motherboard can get.
Honestly, do not buy a Pre-Build PC. They are more expensive then a self-build one and they often save money at the wrong placed. For example they like to use cheap Power Supplies, or a bad Mainboard and a bad CPU-Cooler.
Of course not all of them are bad, but it is more intelligent to build one by yourself.
btw the 80Plus certification is not a guarantee for a good PSU. Sometimtes they even print the label on the PSU to make it sell better (of course only cheap ones). If you want a really good PSU, I'd suggest to take one of the following manufacturers:
- Enermax
- BeQuiet
- Seasonic
Those are basicly the best ones. You can save up money if you look up wich PSUs are made by these ones but only re-branded (be sure that they are identical to their originals, only because they sell good PSUs it does not mean that they ca'nt produce bad ones). I know that the Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold series are just rebranded Seasonics.
Just keep in mind: The PSU is the most important part of your PC. Do'nt save too much money there.
I actually have a Seasonic. My brother already knew that many built in power supplies usually sucked. But mine was very good. I expect a good power supply from a vendor that makes GPUs for good overclocking(MSI lightning, for example).
Is it all possible to disable the waving leaves and grass? I have some mods that add their own leaves and grass but they don't get the wavy effect that default do. That inconsistency is very distracting.
Go to your minecraft folder-> shaderpack folder->the folder for shader you want to change->shaders folder->gbuffers_terrain.vsh
Open the file in an text edit program (pure text), change:

I get the same problem with SEUS (six small windows in lower left corner showing destorted point of view, often pink color).
I get the same problem with Sildurs with the with flare when looking slightly down towards the ground.
For me Chocapic13 v3 ultra has been the most stable and best working shader these days. Im on a mac and currently installing bootcamp with windows 7. Will see if minecraft in win, with updated drivers will eliminate some of these errors.

Download link for Chocapic 13, that works with 1.6.4:

(not my upload, found through this site: http://www.minecraftdl.com/chocapic13-shaders-mod/)
Just open up gbuffers_water.vsh and comment (//) out the #define WAVING_WATER line.
It will look like this:
