whats your CPU and memory like though? pure vanilla minecraft will just scrape 60FPS on 16 chunk distance while looking over the horizon on my OC'd FX-8150, in the meantime it leaves a 290X running idle even with x8SSAA, it'll only push the GPU when underground and the surrounding chunks are being culled off. The simple problem is too many draw calls of which each call adds latency increasingly evident with higher resolutions and complex shaders, chunk batching could help by miles but I have no idea really how well we could modify the pipeline to do so...
This mod is just an add-on to Minecraft with minimal change to how Minecraft render things while keeping the existing features.
It may be possible to render Minecraft world in different way. But this mod is not for that.
I plan to make a separate mod that can make use of new technology and new code without worrying about compatibility and other restriction of this mod.
I am not sure about the development time. Will I finish it and release it ? I don't know.
GLSL Shaders Mod (alpha version) v2.4.2 Non-Forge Edition Installer for Minecraft 1.8 (2014-12-05)
For testing.
- Not compatible with Optifine,FML,Forge.
- Minecraft 1.8 is required. It must be installed before you install this mod.
Warning : This is work-in-progress. It is not complete.
Backup your save game before running or run it only with test-world.
The jar file is installer. Double-click in Windows Explorer to run the installer.
Don't use "Open with..." command in Windows Explorer. It will not work.
Alternatively, run it from command-line java -jar path\filename.jar.
After installation, open Minecraft Launcher and play with the 1.8-ShadersMod profile.
There should be "Shaders..." button in Option screen.
Change
- Fixed shadow depth texture and shadow color texture.
Known issue
- Chunks outside of view have no shadow. There is sunlight in cave.
- Strange lines appear on some block types with SEUS-v10.1. (L shaped on AMD, diagonal on NVIDIA)
- Player/animal/mob does not flash red when hurt.
- Sometimes, player/animal/mob model become broken after change of shaderpack.
Any news on when the complete shaders come out for 1.8.1 Optfine compatibile?
Since OptiFine 1.8.1 ULTRA is already out
Optifine isn't even really finished yet, it's out of Beta, but sp614x just disabled a bunch of useless features (that he is no longer including), and disabled others that aren't ready yet (like AA/AF, maybe more).
I'm not saying that Optifine isn't a huge mod, but the way that shaders adds to the rendering engine is huge. It takes time. And Karyonix is the sole developer for the shaders.
Let him figure out how to get the shaders working on 1.8 without any other mods and garbage to worry about! Then he can build it on top of FML/Forge (which in itself isn't anywhere close to be finished/stable either). Then he can worry about mod compatibility.
Let the guy code in peace, at least he is putting out an Alpha for you all to test (and report back bugs -- thank you all)! Mod authors typically only release content like that only to donators!
I have a littel problem when i have installed the mod for 1.8 the chests and mobs are black
I can confirm this issue too.
Skin, chests and signs are full black.

I know that they are only asking, but the fact that they don't read any of the last ~5 pages is frustrating for all.
If they did, they would know:
zillions of bug reports in the alpha (all which need to be fixed before it will be 'complete')
work from 2.4.1 to 2.4.2 is progressing, but it is slow (as it should be, it's a **** ton of work)
I'm not knocking anyone putting in the bug requests, just be happy there is an alpha you can use and test. There is only a tiny handful of mods that are 1.8.X compatible right now, so, we are really lucky to have anything so fast!
I always crash when using shaders. This is what I get:

Is there anything I can do to fix this?
What shaders are you using? What is your GPU ( Graphic Card ) ? What is your GPU Driver version? Be specific
Known issues due to the changes in (vanilla) Minecraft 1.8, the light appearing is due to the blocks behind you now disappear to help performance, and the unusual waving stuff is probably due to block id's or blockstates or something like that which also changed. Karyonix is working on it as much as possible.
If you're using SEUS packs, go into gbuffers_terrain.vsh and use // to comment out the waving things so they look like this:
//#define WAVING_GRASS
//#define WAVING_WHEAT
//#define WAVING_LEAVES
And that should fix the waving stuff at least.

TL;DR: What is the difference between newer and older versions of graphics drivers? Will things go wrong with the computer if I install an older driver in the place of the current version?
Hi everyone, I am currently helping some people who aren't fluent in English set up various things with minecraft. Their computer has an Intel HD (groan) graphics 4600 and the current driver version is *.3621 (one of the ones that causes crashing). So, when trying to use this mod, the game always crashes when I click play. I tried updating their driver to the latest version through the intel website, but unfortunately it came back that it was not a supported version for this computer. It appears that the only choice is to reverse the driver back to version *.3345 (I think that was the one that was linked to anyway) using the link provided on this post. I am a bit hesitant to do this because as my username states, I have no experience with IT and have been doing everything for them so far by simply googling how to do it. This is the first time I have gone so far as looking up the specs of a computer etc. And on top of that, they are all less educated than I am when it comes to IT as far as I am aware, and they dont understand English, so I don't think they really know what the difference in graphics driver versions means (and neither do I). My question is: What is the difference between newer and older versions of graphics drivers for the same hardware. Will there be any noticeable changes by reverting to an older version. Should I be worried about what it will do to their computer or am I just being paranoid? I don't have the required knowledge to do a system restore etc. if something goes wrong. Explanations in laymans terms would be nice. Help would be much appreciated <3

Newer versions usually support more features and may have old bugs fixed (and may have new bugs).
*.3960 should be the best at this time for Intel HD Graphics 4600. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&FamilyId=39&ProductID=3720&ProdId=3720
Are you trying to install wrong 32-bit/64-bit version ?
It is possible that the computer has manufacturer-customized graphics hardware, so the generic driver refuses to install. If that is the case, check computer manufacturer's web site for available driver. If it only has the bad versions, you can just give up.
I don't care if it takes 50 years (by then my computer will probably run this darn thing anyway) You will always have my support Karyonix! take your time and don't stress too much over impatient people
I know your pain ... except I also have a thing against people who don't read questions they try to answer. (which also includes myself at times).
The guy was asking if shader mod 1.8 WILL be compatible with Forge, not if it IS compatible with Forge.
So to answer that. Yes, it most likely WILL be compatible with Forge. Maybe even with the next update.
The current Alpha (incomplete, buggy, for testing only, ect, ect, and all that applies) is pretty much not compatible with anything, except for vanilla Minecraft 1.8.
Well sorry there I did not read the question since I am SO sleepy ( just woke up )
in Windows, .minecraft is in %APPDATA%.
You may change APPDATA environment variable and call java -jar <installer_file_name>.
It is. There's two versions, one for forge and another for jar installation.
--My PC --SEUS 10.1 Fixes --SEUS Water Fix --SEUS 10.2 Preview --MultiMC 1.8 Shaders Fix (Not needed if using Forge)
For anyone else with similar problems: the error lied with the Botania mod. Removing the shading option in its config file fixed the glitch.

No, he's talking 1.6 / 1.7, they have Non-Forge and Forge versions.
1.8 only has the Non-Forge (which isn't compatible with FML/OF yet).

Everything is working fine, except that it seems wool blocks and some log blocks are wiggling like leaves?
If this is intended, is there any chance you could walk me through disabling wavy blocks?
Also light is just randomly appearing inside if you stand at certain angles.
EDIT: It seems Magenta Wool, and vertical Spruce Logs are the ones currently waving...I'll add more as I find them.

Another more risky way is by using Device Manager to force update to the new driver. (Use the zip version from Intel download center)
