With version 1.4 alpha 3 for Forge, typing /dynmap as an opped player, or dynmap from the server console doesn't return any help information.
/help shows /dynmap on the list on page 3, but I do not get any in-game information about the commands present. I believe this used to work in prior versions.

It will be in the next drop, for sure, but if you want to give it a try on 1.4-alpha-3, do the following:
thanks for all the hard work mike, the last version alpha 3 seems to work just fine with the chunkloaders and it's a little soon to call it but it looks like the fullrender is going to complete a lot quicker than it did on this world with previous versions so i'd say that's a measurable performance improvement too.

I get the same thing. Also doing /dynmap radius render or any other commands doesn't give any output in chat or log.
Running 1.4-alpha-3 on Feed The Beast MindCrack Pack (v7) without any (config) modifications. This has, among other things, Forge Mod Loader version 4.6.17.515 for Minecraft 1.4.6
I've gone through the server and ForgeModLoader-server logs but can't find any error from dynmap or any of the dynmap commands I input.
Dynmap does seem to be updating newly generator chunks. Players are shown on the map and chat also works both ways. (Except for the proxy issue I'm still having)
Also worth mentioning that the server load seems to be a lot lower with this version. So great job on that, thank you

Please try to explain what it is you want exactly
I'm guessing that you want to remove the surface map so you are only left with the flat and caves map? If that is the case, then go here: https://github.com/webbukkit/dynmap/wiki/Commands
There you will find this command:
/dmap mapdelete worldname:mapname : Delete map 'mapname' of world 'worldname'

I am trying to put dynmap on a webserver seperate from my minecraft server, so I can avoid the port number in the dynmap url (thus making a subdomain for it).
How would I go about this? I have been fumbling around in the index.html, I have redirected everything back to my game server ip with the port. I get a black screen and an error "Could not retrieve configuration: not found".
I am attempting to install your Landmarks addition and I am getting this error, any ideas? I have the latest version of JDK (JDK7) and have also downloaded the Jython.jar and placed it in a lib folder in the main bukkit folder.

I'd like to request that support for TerraFirmaCraft be added to Dynmap-Forge. It's a really good total conversion mod, and since exploring other biomes is a big part of the mod, Dynmap would fit with the mod's gameplay very well.
I unpacked the archive in my ".minecraft" folder.
This mod isn't universal? And i can't host the server as "Open to LAN" and use this mod?
Sorry if that.
only the server even needs to have dynmap installed so clients don't have to update to a matching version when there's a new one, always been one of my favorite things about it too.

there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.
I have begun to make a list of all commands and their permissions.
After combining information from the wiki pages about commands, permissions and the plugin.yml file from the dynmap.jar I have mapped all commands to their permissions but one...
Simply out of curiosty. I've been optimizing Dynmap, it would spike my CPU usage causing lag during tile updates, I've fixed that and it's looking beautiful for my cpu usage. Now I'd like to address the memory usage. Dynamp seems to bring up my mem usage quite significantly. It's not so bad that it's causing any problems, but I sure don't like seeing it idle up that high.
So here is my question, are there any optimizations/settings that you reccomend I change to reduce my memory load?
Thank you in advance, and thank you for this AMAZING plugin.
Dynmap has been giving me a lot of issues trying to get configured on Beastnode, my host.
.
The configuration.txt is completely unformatted, so it's basically a wall of text even with word wrap on for 1.4.6. GitHub doesn't have that file uploaded for a copy/paste anyways.
So I can't use the default 8123 port on there as the map loaded but gave me someone ELSES server. So I tried using 8222 along with my IP, still no go. Can we get the config.txt file uploaded to GitHub so I can easily read it?
/help shows /dynmap on the list on page 3, but I do not get any in-game information about the commands present. I believe this used to work in prior versions.

You need EVERYTHING from the ZIP file, not just the JARs - directories, subdirectories, the works.
It will be in the next drop, for sure, but if you want to give it a try on 1.4-alpha-3, do the following:
1) Make sure you HAVE 1.4-alpha-3: will not work with earlier drops
2) Replace the 'XyCraft-texture.txt' file found in dynmap/renderdata with this file (https://raw.github.com/webbukkit/DynmapCore/master/renderdata/XyCraft-texture.txt)
3) Save this file (https://raw.github.com/webbukkit/DynmapCore/master/renderdata/XyCraft-models.txt) as 'XyCraft-models.txt' in dynmap/renderdata.
4) Restart and rerender, as appropriate.
