The latest version for 1.6.4 doesn't appear to be loading at all for me.. It is in my mods folder and shows up in the forge log but doesn't seem to actually load.. in game I just have the basic chat..
Hey~
I'm an avid fan of your chat mod, TabbyChat. Namely because I use it mainly on a minecraft roleplay server. Alot of other people have this mod as well.
My question: Is there a way to edit the chat text limit, so that instead of stopping at three (3) lines, you could go up to maybe ten or twelve lines?
Thank you for your time and I look forward to a response~

Sounds like you're trying to load via Forge... there is no forge-compatible version of TabbyChat for 1.6.4 due to lack of updates to ModLoader (Risugami's). MagicLauncher can load the Standalone version simply enough, otherwise I'd suggest installing LiteLoader alongside Forge and using that version for simplicity.
In 1.7 and the new sound manager, would there be a way for us to define a new sound then have TabbyChat play that sound in a filter?
For example: With Bukkit Essentials /mail, a message will occasionally appear on your screen saying that you have messages. Unfortunately, this message can be easilly overlooked in a crowded chat. To help, one could set some regex: ^You have * messages! Type /mail read to view your mail.$ to a filter, then have a sound titled "sound.mail" play. This sound would be like the old AOL mail message: "You've got mail!"
Yeah, I'm aware... my VPS provider seems to be having issues today, it's been up/down a few times. I'm sure they're aware and working on it, but I'll submit a ticket in the hopes that I can get some information on the issues and timeline.
Edit: You can find the standalone version for 1.6.4 over at PMC, if that's any help.

Cheers for that, been trying for the last 12~ hours.
Looks like it just came back up, although I have yet to receive a response to my support ticket, so I have no idea if this is temporary or not.
Seems like it's down, again, before I had the chance to grab an up-to-date copy. Some digging shows that other customers with the same company are also offline. Apparently they're completely incompetent.
Do you mind uploading a temp copy of version v1.10 somewhere else?

I'm running Minecraft 1.6.4 with Forge 9.11.1.953, put TabbyChat in the mods folder and runs fine. If it's not a Forgemod, FML actually injects the classfiles straight to the classpath. Works for me.
[11:22:53 INFO]: Client> 2014-01-06 11:22:53 [INFO] [ForgeModLoader] FML has found a non-mod file TabbyChat-1.9.02.jar in your mods directory. It will now be injected into your classpath. This could severe stability issues, it should be removed if possible.
Doesn't cause any stability issues, I've tested it.
That's exact same message (or very near, I'm using 1.10 version) that shows up for me yet it does not load. Like so:
[10:45:28 INFO]: Client> 2014-01-06 10:45:28 [INFO] [ForgeModLoader] FML has found a non-mod file TabbyChat-1.10.00.jar in your mods directory. It will now be injected into your classpath. This could severe stability issues, it should be removed if possible.
It also isn't even listed in the mod list. I'll try the 1.9 version to see if there's any difference.
I really am enjoying this mod in the server I play one. Since I do not play with sound it would be amazing if in the filters there was an option to make some type of flashing icon off to the side when someone types a list of words.
Safer approach is to install it as you would with installing TabbyChat for Vanilla MC. I found it works perfectly if I do that alongside Forge.
Ahhh I understand. I haven't modded prior to 1.6.2 really so wasn't familiar with the direct patching of the game files. Had to read up on it to figure out what you were talking about. Thanks.

This mod is pretty cool. A suggestion would be custom font rendering. It looks really nice in chat, IMO. There's a few open-source font renderers that you could probably use for it.

Make a filter that goes to a separate tab with regex:
word1|word2|word3
Then the tab will flash when someone types something from that word list.
Well I for one can't wait to try this awesome plugin, just found out about it from a post on my servers (the one i play on not my own) forum but because we are on 1.7 I have to wait. Not asking for an eta just posting my support. cool plug and I cant wait to try it.

I, too, find this mod incredibly useful... and I'm sure we play on the same server where the waiting game is a well known companion in regards to updates. I'll keep you posted if I see this has updated.

MCP,FORGE,LITELOADER is updated, don't beg the mod author for update.

I don't know how chat is formatted on your server, for vanilla you could use this regex on a filter:
or if you want different colors for your friends too, just make separate filters for every friend:
