Thank you, Pahimar, for producing the #1 favorite mod of all my friends. We're all excited to see what comes in EE3. None of us really enjoyed converting sunpower into diamonds, but there is so much other awesome in this mod if you just don't use the collectors or condensers.-
In my opinion, EE2 was not a cheat mod. It was very OP, though. I really liked the transmutation and EMC concept, but I wasn't a fan of collectors. What I would like to see in the new Equivalent Exchange is some way to make it to require a lot more activity from your part.
For example, in another mod called Thaumcraft 2, a research system was implemented. This research system allowed you to craft new items part of the mod. The problem with it was that it was extremely automatic; all you had to do was throw a stack of cobble into the research table to research something. This made the mechanic uninteresting. It also was based a lot on randomizing and felt a lot like a cobblestone-fueled lottery.
In the mod's sequel, Thaumcraft 3, the developer is making a much more in depth research system. In the update, you have to actively work the research table, and you need logic to make the choices required for the research system. This makes it far more engaging and interesting.
I hope that in EE3 we will have something similar, so that we can actually be involved in the different alchemical activities. One of the main things in game design is that if the player is engaged in the activity and has to work hard to achieve something, they will feel a much greater sense of reward.
So much people I agree with in this damn thread

I'm whining because there is still no transportation/automation mod ready.
I have lots of ideas what to do with the minion stone once I have automatic crafting tables and pipes.
As you know me, all my ideas turn around the one and only theme: *DIAMONDS*!!!
Anyone know any good place to see a write up of the new features and changes or a video of them? I see the Modspotlight section on the front page has been set out as a place holder but I'm sure someone in the community already has their first thoughts and a short demo up.
(PM'ing a reply would be handy since you know how this topic grows at a lightening rate but I'm surely I'll find your reply if you'd prefer keep it in her)
I am very happy with the changes that have been made so far, the only thing i dislike is the conversion from wood to obsidian, seems a bit OP. apart from that this release is looking a lot more balanced and i am just waiting to see what will be added next.
64 is the "old" price for obsidian. So 2 logs = 1 obsidian.
This makes obsidian a re-growing resource, while normally you would sacrifice one lava source block which is not regrowing.
But maybe obsidian should just cost more EMC. Iron is 4 times the price. Dunno - is obsidian more ore less valuable than iron in "real life"?
I have to ask, why is Obsidian overpowered? And don't say because you need diamonds to harvest it.
Why is Obsidian overpowered? It's a blast resistant block that allows you to get to the Nether, and has the same EMC value as two logs (that hasn't changed).
maybe if you have some kind of obsidian tools mod....., diamonds would not be needed

The twilight warrior.
Master of darkness and light, bound to no element, this entity is ruthless, cruel, but fair, when he looks at you he sees your whole soul, and if your heart is tipped to the darkness, or to the light, run, and hope he doesn't think you're worthy....
I have to ask, why is Obsidian overpowered? And don't say because you need diamonds to harvest it.
I'd have to say that right there. I think it's the fact that you get an item of obsidian without the need of any diamonds. One can still go to the nether without harvesting it, using buckets, but it's much harder to place and work with as lava than as a solid block. I guess it's ok so long as you need some diamonds to make the transmutation work, but if not... you're circumventing a vanilla mechanic (it's also something you couldn't even do in EE2, you had to mine at least one block).
EDIT: Technically you had to mine 5. 4 for the condenser and 1 for the target, and you'd need a minimum of 8 diamonds.
I've got a question: If in a future I'll play the complete EE3 in my world, I'll have my Klein Star, my Alchemy Bags ecc.? Or the IDs will be different?
Well it depends. If whether or not all of those items will still be in the the new version of Equivalent Exchange 3, and if they still have the same ID's, then I'd say yes. But if you're using Equivalent Exchange 2, then you'd need to delete any items and blocks in your world that aren't in the full version of EE3, which could potentially mean no.
EDIT: It appears that I enjoy writing overly complicated explanations that could easily be shortened.

how could you remove condensers and red matter i love equivalent exchange 2 but this has wreaked equivalent exchange for me sorry just my opion
Red matter was little more than re-skinned darkmatter items, no added value, just another tier. As for the condensers if you look through the thread, you'll see, he still plans on adding ways to store and move emc around and transmute. So while you might have to create a bit of a production line, you'll still be able to make all the diamonds your heart desires (it'll just take a bit more setup and planning).
I have a few questions (great start, btw. I loved the idea of EE2 and I can't wait to see what EE3 will be like in full)
1. Could you drop any hints as to any new special content you are planning to implement?
2. When it is finished, what mods would you suggest to go along with it?
I'm not sure if the developer/s of this mod are open to suggestion, but on the off chance, I would say that Transmutation should take more time based on the magnitude of the transmutation. And also have a chance to fail and possibly lose some ECM. Like if you're trying to turn cobblestone into a diamond, you need a lot more stone than a diamond would be worth in stone. Perhaps getting better stuff from transmutation, like a diamond from stone, would take lots of time, but turning a diamond into something lower wouldn't take as much. I.E. putting all the ECM together is hard and inefficient, but pulling it apart is relatively easy.

With the addition of Witches, Obsidian(among a few others) has now become a renewable resource without the need of any mods!

He could because he is the creator.
