Buglist is almost empty Paint Mod v1.1.1 released. Impossible for obsidian to be painted now(Fixing the Shift-Spray to paint it anyways,) and bedrock now un-paintable.
Now tested working on SSP SMP AND over LAN
You can download v1.1.1 here.
Dude this mod is epic I might try to get you some game play shot, but i can't stop painting my stuff :/
Looks like some big names already have it covered.
Question, does anyone know of a good screen cap program, everything I have tried drops me to 1 fps, and the ones that dont lag me record at 1 fps. So frustrating

Fraps is good for video captures, and the "print screen" key is usually fine for regular captures, unless you have a multiple monitor setup, with which you will probably just need to crop it.

Learn some Java before you mod, and skip over the chapter on ModLoader, straight to MinecraftForge. It's better. Trust me.

I have only ever used fraps and afterburner(has ati acceleration). I think the problem is your hard drive speed. The reason the ones that record realtime drop you down so slow, and the ones that record in the background record so slow is because the hard drive is too slow to cache the videos any faster. Most likely, your only option is to record at 1/2 resolution.
Is it normal for painted blocks to be harder to break? For example painting tree leaves will make it a lot harder to break the block. Is that intended or a bug?

Intended > After all, try scraping your paint off the wall. Use sand instead, it also prevents the block from breaking. I left leaves in to be painted because they look so nice, but i do see how the break difficulty seems a bit out of place. Using a pick also accelerates paint removal.

Ahh okay, I thought it may be intended but wasn't 100% sure. It does add to the realism yes And theres always sand so thats good What happens with mod blocks that have a high hardness level, will painting it make the hardness down to the set level that the paint adds?
Also I would suggest maybe a block exclusion list so we can list block ids to not be painted if possible

Stay tuned for the next update, most of this is on the list. The block exclusion/inclusion list will be added as a config file once I am satisfied with the server performance. The next patch mostly addresses anti-exploitation by modded clients and more streamlined packets.
So 1.1.2 release time has got here. Major changes to packet handling. Packet sizes reduced, and handling of the packets now more hacker unfriendly.
Removing paint in any form now functions like sand blaster mode, so strange behavior from simulated block breaking is no longer an issue. This also removes the need for modifying a painted blocks hardness level.
Any block that has an associated tile entity can not be painted, as this would replace it's tile entity with mine, deleting any items it might contain. This increases compatibility across the board, so mod blocks are more likely to behave as they should.
You can now see particle effects performed by other players when in LAN and on a server.
Lagging players no longer crash the server and/or client if they send overly delayed and no longer valid packets when trying to paint or sandblast a block another player painted or sand blasted right before hand.
Looks good, except you are supposed to put the paintgun mod in the mods folder(keep it zipped up), don't unzip it into the jar, although it would still work, it will cause problems when updating to new versions. To fix this and go back to loading the mod from the zip in the mods folder, delete my two folders in your main minecraft bin(PaintGunClient and PaintGunCommon).
You can keep doing it this way, but i cannot be responsible for class errors you might experience when trying to update your mod this way.
Version 1.1.3 is now released, sporting brand new gun mode mechanics. Now the Paint Gun has a 'Gun Mode' which is turned on by the V key(default). It now physically fires flint and deals damage only if the flint fired hits a mob. The accuracy is poor, and if you miss, your flint breaks. If you land your shot, you can recover your flint 90% of the time. Fire rate is very high, but be careful, and aim your shots, or you will break all your flint.

Oh my god, the new gun mode is AMAZING. That could be a mod on it's own...
Good job!
Thanks.
Fixed. Will be included in next release.

You can also use Damage Indicators, but it is not required.
Testing done for tonight, thanks those who showed up... and yes, the gun mode is getting a nerf LOL
