These changed in latest releases of Enchanting Plus was long overdue.
Since the beginning this mod has been forcing itself to override the vanilla table. This is bad on many levels, it invalidates the integrity of the vanilla block, and can cause other issues down the road.
Not allowing people to disenchant items used by enchanting plus table is one that I am happy with, and is completely configurable. This wasn't to punish anybody besides people abusing the exploits opened up with this mod. People already call this mod very cheaty and out of place, I am trying to eliminate that feel as much as possible.
The textures for the Advanced Enchantment Table was implemented due to it being a new block, yes I could have used the original table, but It gave my friend an opportunity to make a texture for my mod. If you don't like it, that is your opinion just don't spread the hate for his textures on my thread.
For texture packs, I could really give two thoughts about if I break them or not. If I was to go around asking every texture pack maker or modder if I was doing anything to break their mods, I would never release another version of the mod. I have been talking to Lawbroken about adding Enchanting Plus to his new texture pack, and honestly this is the only one I care about since he is a decent guy.
I know the opinions of the users should influence what I do to the mod, but if ever commit is hate for something a little new, I won't listen.
Honestly this was not the sort of stuff I wanted to first see on my thread after I wake up. It is kinda disrespectful to myself and my mod.

My post was never meant to be a hate post. All I wanted was a little clarity as to why some of the changes took place.
When I'm running around in my modded survival world, some of these restrictions the mod puts in place seem to conflict with the new features the mod itself adds.
Let me say this again,
I do not hate the new texture for the new block. It looks good. It even fits in with many 16x16 resource packs.
I do not hate any of the new developers of this mod. I remember how it was back in Minecraft 1.0. Mssodin did a great job. You are continuing to do a great job, fixing bugs and tweaking features.
I do not hate a new block in my game, or the materials it takes to make it.
I play Survival Single Player. I use a handful of other mods as well. I do not use NBT Editors or Inventory Editors (such as Not Enough Items). This is the point of view I am coming from.
The reason I have a problem with the Disenchanting lock is because it seems arbitrary. I can't disenchant items that I used the default enchanting table for. I can't remove enchants off of items from random monster loot or dungeon chests. You added the option to switch it off in the config. I appreciate that. Problem null.
The reason I have a problem with the new block is that you created a block that makes a default Minecraft block obsolete. Back when this mod changed the interface for the default enchanter, it changed a normal block and made it better to use. Now, instead, it adds a block which makes a default block irrelevant and makes the new one the only practical one to use. When you have Enchanting Plus installed, there is no reason you would even want to waste time using Minecraft's own enchanting table. Coupled with the fact that anything you do use the default enchanter is rendered incompatible with the mod itself. So it is actually detrimental to use the default block instead of the new one. It's just bad design from a conceptual standpoint.
Finally, let me address the issue with cheating again. As far as The Internet is concerned, every single mod is a cheat. Any mod that changes anything in the core gameplay, whether it be a single new item or a terrain generator, it is no longer "vanilla" and therefor a cheat. According to The Internet. According to me, any mod that enhances gameplay without completely circumventing the rules of "vanilla" and has rules of its own is a good thing. Enchanting Plus, the mod, is a good thing. But rules that are arbitrary, counter-intuitive, or just plain illogical, only serve to undermine the enhancement this mod brings.
I'm not opposed to change, but these changes are actually pretty big within the scope of this mod. It went from replacing an interface of one normal block and using the mod's method to apply enchants to adding a new block with a new texture with the new interface and negated the normal block's functionality.
In a very round-about way, you answered my questions. People weren't just cheating by having the mod installed, they were cheating the mod itself. Do whatever you feel like needs to be done to make this mod the best it can be for you. I was merely concerned that some of the changes implemented would not be better for those who actually enjoy using it.
1.7.10 is total cake , nocakeing any caked recipe work , tried to make el steel now furnace kick coal out , srsly all mods that was upraded to 1.7.10 is stink cake
just delete this caking mod and install 1.6.4 they work at least or make your own mod without caking yourself all day and night because there is some caked recipe that dont caked work
@bdog_miner_also, i think you missed the part where freyjadono said that changing to a new block instead of the existing block helps solve some current issues and avoid others down the road. ive never made a mod for minecraft but i can easily see how changing the code of an existing block could cause problems, and if the code for the vanilla table were to be changed in the future i can see how that could be an even bigger problem. makes sense to me that adding a new block would be better.
that being said, this mod is flippin fantastic! and i for one like the change to using a new table that requires more materials than the vanilla. you pay out more for a better table, sounds fair enough to me! thanks for all the hard work on this, you have given me a reason to actually work towards enchanting stuff again lol
Can you add a way so that if a zombie or whatever drops an enchanted sword i can de-enchant it for levels because it is really annoying i want to add the enchantments to my main sword/pickaxe but they are on my other one, i know that you may have changed it to fix the bug in hexxit but please can you add an option in the config or something like that that would be amazing,
Thank you

In my latest release, this is configurable. Hexxit and FTB still haven't updated. I will bug them tomorrow about it when I get a chance.
I started using this mod in the Hexxit mod pack. It was all good until the update and I was no longer able to disenchant items that i had found in chest and other ways. I understand that certain people were abusing the ability, but why hurt the many because of the few. It seems that a good half of the mod was taken away for no good reason. I mean after all the people abusing it were only hurting themselves. I do see why this feature had to be removed.
This feature was not removed. In the version that FTB/HEXXIT have it is forced that it can't disenchant items like that. But, I have a newer version released that it is completely configurable for this feature. I will have to get with FTB/HEXXIT about updating it.

Oh really? i have the mod in my single player game and drops from the zombies and such with diablo like modifiers, wont go back to disenchant :? hmm ill update it now maybe it will work then, thanks
EDIT: i opened the config file what potion must i change to allow this?
Well a crash has been reported to me by some people on one of my servers. When they place a sword or book in the enchanting table, the game crashes. It only crashes on the client and they can rejoin just fine, but it's quite annoying. I've tried repairing existing enchanted items without any error. I have verified that I'm using the correct version of the mod (1.15.4 or 1.15.5) for the version of Minecraft that I am running (1.5.2). With the newest version of the mod, when I place a book or sword into the Vanilla enchanting table, it works just fine. Here's the crash report:

May I ask, if i join a random server that I do not own or anything, and have EnchantingPlus on my client, but the server does not, will the mod still work on the server?
Just updated to 1.15.5 to see maybe if it was a different type of bug. well of course now its an advanced enchanting table. The armour and swords will enchant without crashing. but ANY pickaxe, shovel, or axe will shut your client down
You can't even chant books! so theres no way to enchant them without switching to vanilla and playing the guessing game
I just read through this post and I have no idea what this mod does. Could you please write a description? Im tired of seeing mods posted that have absolutely no description. Am I supposed to just guess?
I just read through this post and I have no idea what this mod does. Could you please write a description? Im tired of seeing mods posted that have absolutely no description. Am I supposed to just guess?
Well....there is youtube...BUT this mod let's you pick and choose your enchantments with an advanced enchantment table instead of it being one big guessing game. BUT only half of it appears to be working
Since the beginning this mod has been forcing itself to override the vanilla table. This is bad on many levels, it invalidates the integrity of the vanilla block, and can cause other issues down the road.

I still feel that the Advanced Table should still have the ability to do default enchanting, since it took a whole table to make it
Yeah I will try to make that change soon, I gotta figure out a way to detect if NEI is installed and if its visible.
When I'm running around in my modded survival world, some of these restrictions the mod puts in place seem to conflict with the new features the mod itself adds.

The upgrade is just an item you craft, and shift + rightclick on a vanilla table to upgrade to an Advanced Table.
I've have also gotten a chance to talk to malice from FTB about ideas of how to make Eplus more um... "balanced".
Thank you

You can't even chant books! so theres no way to enchant them without switching to vanilla and playing the guessing game
Well....there is youtube...BUT this mod let's you pick and choose your enchantments with an advanced enchantment table instead of it being one big guessing game. BUT only half of it appears to be working
