Its probably if you do certain deeds/skills you do/level up on it will fill the a bar depending on what you do and when a bar is full you can face the boss of the same faction color
(Yes Im quoting my self) Maybe instead of just being able fight the boss you can go into the area were the faction leaders can be spawned in
Get it right and you'll be thrown into a draw for a beta spot as well as you'll get exclusive design input on an upcoming dimension!

Only a couple minions have been selected at this point, winners will be revealed in good time.
Like what others said, it's an allegiance/reputation meter of the 4 factions. What it does? My guess would be your bar gets higher depending on the "quests" you do for them which will lower your bar the other factions if they're the target. When the bar is full, you can challenge the faction leaders (seperately) on a 1 on 1. Assuming the bar starts at zero, everything in the "corridors" are out to kill you until you kill enough you get attention. Since the bar will be at full, your corresponding faction will not attack you and will sort-of be your "minion", while other factions are out to get you. When you enter other corridors whose corresponding bar is low, they will attack you. And since there's this factions system, I think you'll have some sort of armor corrseponding to the 4 as well as flags, making enemies notice you easily (unless you have all 4 and the bars are all high, I don't know with that XD). That's what I can think about this.

Hm... Okay, so we know that there is some type of progression system, however I don't see a way for us to tell if we can fight "the next level" or not by these bars. Is it just: When the yellow bar is about half way full, we can fight this type of enemy? With that in mind, it definitely has something to do with the factions... I'm going to go with they're some new type of energy involving the factions. Perhaps there are factions weapons that can be used? Either that, or once these bars are filled all the way up, you gain access to the corresponding guardians corridor.
What could this be (the multiple bars)? Get it right and you'll be thrown into a draw for a beta spot as well as you'll get exclusive design input on an upcoming dimension!

the far left one is totally the new thermal bar the one next to that is your magic bars (when they run out you have to wait to cast more magic) and the rest and bars for exp levels for different magic types

If it's a magic bar, where's creation on the multiple bars?
The Bar basically is what everyone already said. I think, however, the bar is basically the amount of power you have over tyhat faction. Once one faction has a full bar, you can challenge the leader of faction to gain complete authority of that faction if you defeat said leader. You can continue to defeat all factions until you have every faction taken completely over. Another idea would that each bar represents the amount of 'progression' you've done in that specific dungeon by defeating monsters and eventually have enough of 'progression' to entter that boss's chamber.

If this isn't what the bars represent, I think it should be.

I completely agree with you. But probably fight mobs from the opposite factions to raise your reputation in that faction. Also, i agree that you can gain the authority of the faction. But, whats the point of ruling the faction? To begin war with the opposing faction?
What will 1.2 add anyways? We know Labricon will be coming at a later update (I think), will it be the Lands of Lelyetia, the Ancient Cavern, or those conversion changes?
Or, all our dreams will come true and those 3 things will be released all at the same time!
One person has come pretty close, but they only got 1 of the two "outcomes" of it correct.
What would be the other side of that coin? If you battle too little mobs of one faction you get to befriend the leader? I feel that would stray away from this mods `aura` per my opinion. I want to fight a giant monstrous dog, not cuddle up o the beast.

Since it's about factions, there would be some sort of city, loyalty and rivalry system of some sort.
Either:
A: It's a progression bar for the faction corridor on how far you've well, progress, duh. (credits to TEM187)
B: It's a reputation bar for the factions.
Since TEM187 did option A, I'm with B
(Retake of my previous post)
B; sub-option A: Assuming ALL bars start at zero, everything is out to kill you. You kill enough to gain popularity on corresponding faction. You gain quests from the leaders to hunt stuff or kill other factions, example you're part of Penumbra since you gained popularity from killing some of them, you get assigned by the leader to hunt down other factions. Your bar with Penumbra goes up, gain buffs depending on the mission, your other bars of enemy factions go down, making them want to kill you more.
B; sub-option B: Assuming all bars are halfway, you have a medium oppurtunity chance to either be killed or live to go explore. You go to the leader of each faction, be assigned, get buffs or something (like armor or a special banner, same with sub-option A), the faction bar goes up all other bars drop a little. When you're assigned by Penumbra as a member and you have armor and whatnot and you go to other factions and be assigned, ALL buffs, armor and stuff from said faction will be replaced by a new one, earning rebellion status, which makes the current faction you're in go up, the former faction you're at go down twice as much and the other factions will stay normal.
B; sub-option C: You slay monsters in corresponding faction, popularity grows, you're noticed by leader, he challenges you in a 1-v-1. Winner of the battle becomes leader of the faction making you're popularity/oppurtunity high but in other factions low. Conquering all four will make you king of some sort.
B; sub-option D: all of the above, with some tweaks here and there.
(Yes Im quoting my self) Maybe instead of just being able fight the boss you can go into the area were the faction leaders can be spawned in
Maybe when a bar is full you can level up in the skill connected to the color.

If it's like that, there should be 5 bars.
