I'm getting this crash as well, going from version 955 to 1004 of the mod and loading an old world. I've tried letting it regen the configs as well- makes no difference. Going to try another version of BoP before 1004.
So... you probably don't want to do this, but I thought I'd ask.
I love your trees, the variety of wood, including bamboo. I like that Bibliocraft works with it and I can get a wide variety of additional colors in my world. I also adore the celestial crystal as a cool-color alternative to glowstone, even if I can only cheat it in, and I enjoy the Limestone and Shale.
I'm putting together a Skyblock setup with a small custom mod pack, and in looking through the list I realized that I wouldn't have BoP included because the majority of its content would be outside the point of the custom map, quests, and mod setup. But then I thought how much I'd miss having those colorful woods -- especially when using Bibliocraft.
So... I thought I'd at least ask if you would consider making a 1.7.10 mini-mod that would have your trees, the crystal, and the limestone and shale. The idea is something that'd work with Ex Nihilo, letting me get little pieces of goodies from sifting dirt, just basically adding them to the loot list: tree seeds*, shards of crystal, limestone, and shale. I'd also like to see the glowy flower from the Mystic Grove. Other possible goodies you could include would be the foods: the three mushrooms, berry bush, and wild carrots, assuming they're all growable.
*Tree seeds would be unnecessary if I could use some method to turn vanilla saplings into BoP saplings. Perhaps combining two vanilla saplings would make a BoP sapling? You'd have 30 possible combos, if my math skills haven't deserted me, or 36 if combining two of the same sapling were a thing (e.g. two Birch Saplings make a White Cherry Blossom Sapling). Could also have mushroom combos create BoP mushrooms: red-red, brown-brown, and red-brown to make the three types.
Note also that I only care about trees with distinctive wood colors, such as the Jacaranda, Cherry, Willow, and Magic Tree -- not ones with distinctive foliage on vanilla trunks, like the autumn birches. I would cherry-pick the trees I like, but I'm sure if you made this mod you'd want to make it for more than one person, so I guess include all the ones that look distinctive from the vanilla ones. Maybe you could add Loftwood too?
Anyway, that's my request. I think it'd be neat for people playing with limited-resource setups to be able to get Biomes o' Plenty goodies, primarily for their decorative purposes, without having the full mod, so a mini-mod would be great.

@Kylyle:
Since this is kind of a specific request, I don't know if it'd be addressed or accepted in the way you're hoping. There is a good alternative, however- the mod MineTweaker allows you to create recipes and "tweaks", as the name suggest. With that you can easily set up whatever you feel would be balanced within your server/map/whatnot.
There is a little bit of a learning curve (really minimal) to figure out how to do recipes etc, but their online wiki can get you situated.
Just wondering, is there a version of this mod for 1.6.4 that has the ocean biomes, the gems, and the Promised Land, and doesn't have less common fantasy biomes? I'm using a version like the one I described, except no matter what I do the ocean biomes don't spawn.
~~~~~i keep getting this crash when trying to make a world~~~~~
Consider asking the creator of Ex Astris to add BOP tree seeds via sifting dirt.
Ooh, that might be just the thing! Thank you.
ETA: Okay, I have asked her to add the seeds and crystal shards and such. Though, this only ensures that if I have the full Biomes o' Plenty installed, I can access some of the items. What I was hoping for was having a subset of the Biomes o' Plenty items without having the full BoP installed. Because I'm already running a lot of mods for this build and was hoping to reduce the number of mods and not have more large mods than I need.
I got Natura to see what it's like... interesting stuff, has some cool wood and all, but it's also got some real oddities that I don't like, so I want to stick to Biomes o' Plenty instead. Just not the full, giant, clutter-my-creative-inventory mod, that's all. If the guys who make BoP don't want to make a mini-mod, that's perfectly understandable; I just thought I'd ask and hope maybe they would.
I'm trying to use the Biome Radar to locate an Enchanted Forest in the Twilight Forest, but the log keeps spamming "[Server thread/WARN] Biome ID is out of bounds: -1, defaulting to 0 (Ocean)" over and over again with the Biome numbers changed to stuff like "19250" and other numbers for like 10 mins, and all the entities freeze (I can't do anything with them, I just walk right through them) and chunks don't load.
if there is no download button, what should i press in the forge flie page?
I had a little bit of trouble getting the download page to load but it did eventually. Once you get it to load, you'd click on the "Universal" link to the right of the version you're trying to download. Or, if you absolutely can't get the page to load (and you're after 1.7.10 latest) this is a link directly to the Adf.ly page for that download. (2.1.0.1004-universal)
Wait the 5 seconds, then click "Skip Ad" in the top right corner. <-sorry if that bit wasn't needed but, you know.. I'm sure most of us clicked some junk on that page the first time we tried to use adf.ly
What, seriously is this mods obsession with mushroom islands?!
75+ different biomes and its going to generate HUGE mushroom island biomes and set you off in the middle of them!
i play alot of games ... some of them im good at ... some of them ... not so much, well no ... i just plain suck at the latter portion ... you'd think that in 20 years of gaming, id learn ...
I can't find any information about this mod... I only see links links links links and links. No crafting recipies, no information on the mobs, no info at all!
It adds biomes. The biomes are listed in the first post. No mobs and no crafting recipes I am aware of (except the old ones extended to new woods and such).
Just what the first post says.
It actually does add a few mobs and recipes (besides the extended ones.) Though a few may not be able to get from in game. Ambrosia comes to mind. BoP also adds some low-tier armor, such as flower bands and mud armor. It also adds a few tools and weapons. Scythes allow you to clear out areas of tall grass more quickly. There's actually quite a bit in the BoP mod, though the main focus is adding a variety of biomes.
I am wondering about the big trees that grow in certain biomes. I cut one down and got some saplings, I planted those saplings but it did not reproduce the big tree. So then I tried planting it in the biome it came from and again no big tree. So if we cut these big trees down they are gone?
Are you planting just one sapling, or many in a grid? I can't say for sure, since I don't know which specific trees you're talking about, but several larger trees require more than one sapling. Kinda similar to the big jungle tree, the big oaks, and the dark oaks.
Those dang annoying little jungle spiders lol. And the phantoms in the Nether. The config file also has Pixies, Wasps, and Globs, but I personally haven't come across them yet.
On another note though, I'm so bummed about them removing the Promised Land. I hope they find ways to add in some of the beautiful materials/blocks found there - perhaps some new biome in the overworld.
I'm getting this crash as well, going from version 955 to 1004 of the mod and loading an old world. I've tried letting it regen the configs as well- makes no difference. Going to try another version of BoP before 1004.
