This mod is in open beta, but I don't think it's for 1.4.2/1.4.4 yet.
Relevant self quote:

I ment for the 1.4.2 version of it sorry if i was unclear like i said had just woke up ha. And again not trying to rush em just cant wait take all the time he needs
I'm playing it with Buildcraft, forestry, IdustrialCraft 2, REI's Minimap, Balkons weapon mod, Minions, Invtweaks, Computercraft 1.43, Modular force Field add-on for IC2, Optifine, IC2 Nuclear control, gregtech add-on for IC2, the Gravisuit add-on for IC2, Compact solars Add-on for IC2, Railcraft, Tree capcitator, tree Capacitator add-on for IC2, and universal electricity. I needed universal electricity for ICBM, but i got rid of ICBM cause i had no use for it. But universal electricity helps to convert IC2 energy to Buildcraft energy and back.
And i know, i have a lot of add-on's for IC2 xD
That sir is alot of mods! Thanks though was wondering about a few of those an if they worked with Ars magica.
I have an idea for the jump spell:
Using the spell would toggle a jump buff. Space would jump normally, but double hitting space (like to fly in creative) would make you super jump. The spell could cost mana each time, or grant a limited use/time buff, or a combination of all.
Eg: Diminished gives 3 relatively small super jumps, normal gives 7 normal super jumps, and augmented gives 15 mega jumps.

Lol, you should see the load time for my client The first time i loaded it i thought i broke it xD Luckily there were no ID conflicts. But when i tried to install the portal mod, i suffered
Kudos man, great mod. Im slowly dying until this updates to 1.4.2. I've been craving a good magic mod for a while, specially after playign with the Heroes plugin in bukkit. This is proper awesome muffin sauce.

Lmao awesome but not to the portal part though lol
Edit: Well now i gotta get away from this thread for a couple days or i'ma start bugging Mithion ><
Anyways keep up the awesome work Mithion and thanks for keeping this mod going! Cant wait.
I may be totally off base with this, but hear me out. I don't think you should lose magic levels when you die. All other experience expendetures are more or less permanent investments, so I don't like that magic levels don't follow suit. This is especially true as you reach higher levels, because of how long it takes to make up those five levels you lost. I almost never have to worry about losing an enchanted or repaired weapon or armor piece, so why should I have to worry about losing my hard won magic levels? To put this exactly on par with the other experience expendatures, you could make the five lost magic levels appear as orbs like experience does; therefore, to get any experience expenadure back, you need to return where you died and retreive the item. Honestly, never have I been more depressed when I die than after I got Ars Magica; simply, it's unfair for me to be scared to leave my house for fear of dying in some unexpected way because of this mod. What do you people think?

You can configure how many magic levels are lost upon death, though there is a minimum.
There are also other ways to protect yourself when you get to the higher levels, such as archmage armor and chrono anchor if you have found it.
As I've said, this mod encourages exploration and rewards proper preparation...it's meant to give you that edge to the game. If there's no risk or penalty in dying, you might as well play on peaceful.

Download the Godly and always wonderful Ars magica! http://i.imgur.com/PsNMK.png

Next drag the files in forge into your minecraft.jar located in the bin folder, DELETE META INF FIRST THEN DRAG FORGE FILES, LEAVE THE META INF IN FORGE FILES ALONE AND JUST DRAG IT TOO. Then start minecraft, next, go back to your .minecraft folder and go to coremods, go into ars magica until you have a resources folder and an ars magica folder, drag the fodler in resources to your resources folder in .minecraft, and as for the Ars Magica folder, put it in core mods, next open minecraft, and go to controls to set them. http://i.imgur.com/2NgaL.png
And as always, thank your local modder, Mithion.
Recognition!Also I hope to see some of my towers in the next release! By the by, need any more towers for your mod, you know who to call, me.(Even without a number XD) How about a rainbow that leads to a big pot of glowstone or gold? And the rainbow can have chests on it with mages, the pot itself will have high level rewards!

Where can I change this setting?
In resonse though, that 'edge' is already counteracted by more powerful mobs and dangerous places to explore to attain that knowledge. I never said I didn't want to die; I said I didn't want to die and be punished more than I would normally be in Minecraft. With the idea I stated above, I'm recieving as much a penalty to my spent exp for dying as I normally would in Minecraft. As is, when I die, I just get mad and farm up the magic levels I lost anyway, which is not very fun. As far as advantages the mod provides, I don't like the mage armor this mod introduces, and I don't use it. However, this is a discussion for another day, and it will most likely be reduced to a matter of personal preference. As for Chrono Anchor, I haven't found it, but, from what I gather, it must be cast before the event at hand, has a duration, and consumes a large amount of mana when cast. Basically, it would be worthless against the come and go surprises of Minecraft; however, that's the nature of balance and I understand that much. With that in mind though, it is utterly random whether or not I'll find the Chrono Anchor spell or any other spell for that matter. Personally, I dislike the notion that securing the tools for my survival is left up in the air. Sure, the rest of the Minecraft universe is randomly generated, but it's not difficult to secure any resources besides diamonds, which are not a necessity. Now, I'm not saying the player should be given any spell they desire; that would heavily defeat the purpose. However, your response suggests that the fix to my anxiety is a randomly provided and limited spell, which does not sit well with me.
Please don't misunderstand me; I love this mod and I eagerly await its 1.4.2 release. However, it is not free of its own unique frustrations, one of which I've decided to bring to the forefront. This was not intended as a personal attack or anything of the sort. I'm simply expressing my opinion, which you may do with as you please.
I was just wondering if you saw the PM i sent you. You haven't replied and i was just wondering if you saw the ideas i sent to you. But if you did read them and are just ignoring me then thats all right too. I'm sure you get many PM's a day and are very busy.
Also, is the 4.0.0 release still for 1.3.2? And all of your new spells, will you please includ them for the 1.3.2 versions? I am using quite a few other mods and don't want to update to 1.4.2 till they are updated too.

In the config change what I've bolded there:
general {
Death_AffinityLoss=true
Death_Mana_Levels_Lost=1
GFX_Level=2
IsDebugging=false
IsRecording=false
NPC_Spells_Destroy_Terrain=false
Hes working on it as fast as he can
Happiness is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth.
Actually, it seems he's working on it faster than he can, since he's ended up with a repetitive motion stress injury.
