forge srg obfuscation has made it so 1.5.1 mods work on 1.5.2, if they use it, theres no reason not to, mymod for example was made on 1.5.1 as were lots of mods, that now work on 1.5.2. its not as cut and dry as new mc = new mod version needed so no its not because this mod inst 1.5.2 its possibly srg failed for this mod or he used the wrong obfuscation bat on accident/for reasons
There are plenty of mods out there that it isn't that simple for unfortunately. Most should be, but that's obviously not the case for everyone as not everyone has gotten around to adopting it yet.
Hey there! I was trying to get Ars Magica to work on a custom instance in MultiMC and when ever I try to play, the startup freezes and stops. Here's the MultiMC log http://pastebin.com/Z2EyuRGT Can you tell me what's wrong and how I can fix it?

Ars Magica is not updated to 1.5.2, you are using 1.5.2...
That is what is wrong.
I am having trouble with an older version of Ars Magica for a private server modlist that me and my brother are setting up. When I checked the compatability using "Minecraft Mods Compatability Checker" posted by Scorpion_vn it said they were compatable. All mods are set up for MC 1.4.7 and I'm not very good with these types of error reports. Here is the report I got:
Anyone have an explanation for a white screen, everything is installed correctly (I think) and all the other mods are working. The last line in the log before it freezes is [FINEST] [ForgeModLoader] The mod ArsMagica accepts its own version (5.50.010).
Thanks, Coolo.
Simply as constructive feedback, I do wish there were better in-game documentation. Since spell recipes unlock through in-game items, it feels like you're waiting for the items to be revealed in a similar fashion. My friends and I have a group of about 30 mods installed (no problems!) and I checked today and after a week with Thaumcraft none of us has built anything except the Inscription Table and some Spell Parchment (and one Spellbook). We use spells, but that's about it.
With Minecraft filled with so many great mods, I wish every mod had some sort of in-game documentation. Perhaps, alongside the spell recipes, you could add items which are simply sketches of the crafting recipes for various mod items? I'm not suggesting they should 'unlock' like the spells do - but the occasional nudge toward an item, a sketchy drawing and a description of its function? (Honestly, I wish Vanilla had these - little scraps of paper you could organize into a recipe book rather than using Craftguide et al.)
I do realize that wading through wikis is (not unreasonably!) considered by many to be a core gameplay element of Minecraft, but my small group and I generally prefer in-game sources of information.
Just our feedback - it's an awesome mod, and we all look forward to seeing what's in store for future versions!
what is 1.5.x? sorry if this is a dumb question or has been adressed several times, but i did just skip over 253 pages of text
if it means all 1.5 versions, i would be confuses since i get a blackscreen trying to load this with 1.5.2
1.5.2 is the latest Minecraft version. After 1.5, the big "Redstone update", 1.5.1 brought refinements to it such as bug fixes and performance enhancements. Spit and Polish, so to speak. 1.5.2 is yet another similar, small patch. Ars Magicka just hasn't been updated for vanilla/standard Minecraft 1.5.2 yet, so it doesn't work on it, just 1.5.1.
how about you do some more alchemic circles. like some full metal alchemist stuff. that would be cool. like making a mage staff from some materials you throw on the alchemy circle. make the circle making stuff cheap though cause it would only be 1 use most likely and you need to find all the ingredients and those are used.and not like a crafting table. like make things you can only use the alchemic circles for.
Are ideas for features still being accepted? Because I have several I would like to give, and if they are good/get implemented, I definitely wouldn't mind snagging a fancy aura.

Amazing job on this mod. I can't express how much fun the people on my server are having.
I do have a "personal" concern. We are wanting to incorperate Aether 2 when if comes out. I am worried of the compatibility. Obviously we won't know of any issues until its released but I wanted to mention it.
Besides that, amazing job once again. Its been a lot of fun!
(If you don't know Aether 2 I can forward you the information)
Possible bug: leaving "the End" reverts your mage level back to what it was before you entered. IE, I entered the End a level 19 mage, but I brought an empowerment table and left a level 21 mage (take that Endermen!); when I "woke up" from the dream, I was level 19 again.
If so, is it possible to change this "feature" so that is plays better with other mods or, is it possible to change the behavior using a mod like IDResolver?
If none of this is possible how would you suggest installing Ars Magica so it doesn't overwrite other mods ID's.
Again, I am asking the questions not making accusations. I am working on a pack for myself and the LP I am planning and I REALLY want to add this mod with minimal fuss.
Thanks
Thats what I think it does. There may be problems when the mod he is trying to overwrite tries to overwrite his mod. That I think would cause a crash.
Hm, When i added ars magica, nei searching is really slow, but looking by mod is fast. I type in, say, dirt and wait about 5 seconds and finally it comes up. Is that a memory problem? When i removed ars magica it worked fast again, but i added it and it is slow

If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it.
Never mind, me and my brother switched it to 1.5.1 and haven't had any problems so far.
Thanks, Coolo.

Thank you for the apt explanation
