I do have some questions regarding World Gen'd stuff.
Right now, the way that the various structures work is that the blocks are added, but no other blocks are cleared out. or filled in. The result is that the basement levels of some of them are completely filled in, which, while an interesting idea and a niceway to make it a bit archaeological, is a bit grating considering that the ladders survive. Or, with practically any structure that spawns in the forest, trees have grown up inside them, with snow on the floor, etc. Also, the towers made of enderstone... what are they for? I've encountered half a dozen of them and all of them are empty on the inside with nothing on the top.
The trees and filled in parts are purposely used to signify abandonment; the enderstone towers are mainly for show.
Yes, those spells do pull items and mobs to the castor, but I was thinking they could be pulled into a stationary gravity well that disappears after a amount of time. Maybe it could be triggered like a runic trap?
The next update will bring some pretty cool things to the table, so that might be worth checking out. You won't have this exactly, but with a little know how you could pull off something somewhat close.
I was thinking that it could provide maybe just a minor speed boost, so I could have a castor setup that increases efficiency. Maybe the same could be done with plant growth, as now it just acts like a rather insane, mildly op aoe growth spell.
Accelerate has already been nerfed somewhat in the next patch. It does more than growth, as it makes all blocks tick faster, but making it tick tile entities is simply far too OP and just isn't happening.
There’s knock-up in gust and breath of the open sky, but as far as I know there’s no wind spell with knockback. Maybe the knock-up is a bug?
Most attack spells do knockback as it is - plus there's also shockwave that has knockback. I think the ability to keep an enemy away, chained, while doing damage might be a bit much.
The trees and filled in parts are purposely used to signify abandonment; the enderstone towers are mainly for show.
The enderstone towers also like to float on top of grass blocks. All the buildings for that matter like to spawn half way into villages and their buildings, or even other ars magica structures.
I have a question: when I updated the server to 1.4.7 all of the Ars Magica blocks disappeared. All players are level 0. I'm assuming this has something to do with the config file, but I don't know how to stop it from happeneing. I kept the same ArsMagica.cfg file. What am I overlooking?
MineFantasy mod has just got updated. Sadly, something in it makes it incompatible with Ars Magica. I get this error from Ars Magica when I have both of them running

I hope both these great mods are compatible one day.
A look into what Minecraft could become when you add a splash of magic.
1.4.6 Is Here! Please review the changelog on the wiki to see what's new! Hotfix released - this should solve the issues with crashing, magic level loss, and several mod incompatibilities.
.
It might be just me but I think the 1.4.6 may be a clue on having issues with Vanilla 1.4.7 and other mods updated to version 1.4.7
This mod seems to have serious issues with the newest recommended version of Forge, most likely due to the Coremod. I actually had a world unload right before my eyes while exploring haha. That was new.
I love this mod exceptionally, so I eagerly await for the update.
I found bug or at least i think it is bug. If I have in my spellbook spell that has long cooldown I cant cast any chargeable spell. Animation looks like im waving my hand.
To all guys who think that this mod is overpowered when ure high lvl. Do you think that archmage would have hard time digging 3x3x40 m tunel? Because i dont think so. And you are good mage when you are >25 lvl.
Maybe you feel like adding some "archmage" spells? That would only work with Augmented casting and require LARGE amount of mana, something like 15 000 or more. Maybe Meteor spell that would summon falling meteor that will create 10x TNT explosion?
And can i suggest something? Many spells require Essence to cast. What you think about adding mechanism that would allow to cast them but i'll eat 5x more mana than cast with Essence.
The affinity system in the game will allow you to cast spells of your chosen affinity while not consuming essences, but as a penalty doubles the essence costs on spells of your opposing affinity.

Is the Google Doc bug reporting still a good way to send in bugs? I just want to make sure they get through.
Yep, I check it before every release. If your bug report requires a response, just post it here. Be as thorough as possible - the more information I have, the more quickly I can fix it. Posts that are just "it doesn't work" get ignored.

The next update will be entering the closed beta state soon, and will move to open beta a short while after that...so not too too long!
Is there a way to add magic defenses to "regular" armors?
I ask because I'm toying around with the "fantasy metals" portion of Metallurgy, and the running theme for those metals is "middle-to-low durability and defense, high enchant capacity". So I'm thinking having a set of "normal" armor that has "fair" physical and magic defense at the cost of having lower durability would be right up this mod's alley.
I found a way to feed the nexus very quickly, open the spoiler if you want to know!!!
Build a dirt structure over the nexus, and then find some jungle saplings, after that, put the sapling in a 2x2 square and give them some bone meal or use the grow spell on them, (if you have tree capitator or timber installed, it will be very easy to cut the tree) then destroy the dirt base and see how the nexus eat every wood block
i would love to play this mod but i like redpower and thermal expansion but i stink at fixing config file but that sound be an easyish fix all you need to do is change the block IDs but i am not sure about optifine but hopfully you can
Might want to add Mystcraft to the incompatibilities list. Traveling from one age to the next resets all your magic levels and you cant gain any levels after that. Just wasted 77 experience levels...
Edit: Okay, quitting the game and coming back in restores your magic level.
I noticed a while back people really wanted a server for this but none were around I am not sure if that is still the case but I just made one if anybody wants come play http://www.minecraft.../#entry20360287
Alright, I'll give it a a try. Thanks.

Optifine occasionally will give the "Already Tessellating!" error with Ars Magica. Not sure what specifically causes it.

Plant Life, Trees, Flowers, Food and Farming! Pam's mods.
Only the Greater, Epic & Legendary pots are brewable right now I believe.
Arcane Ash is pretty cheap, I just use that for epic pots. You can craft Arcane Compounds for them relatively cheaply and you get 2 ash for each one.

1.4.7 was, from what I read, supposedly just bugfixes for crashes in 1.4.6.
