-Vanguard System

Is finally included: While guarding with a shield, each attack blocked will add 1 VC (Vangard Charge) to the shield. After 7 charges Players can release this aoe attack. Be warned!!! Leaving Guarding Stance will reset VC back to 0.

Why should I use Vanguard and why does it take so long to charge up? Vanguard was designed to help push back mobs when players are overwhelmed. Not only are all mobs in 6 blocks of sight are pushed back, but also will suffer knockback, slow movement and weakness.... Finally icing on the cake, All shield enchants are also applied in the attack..... yes aoe fire burst of doom is possible if you have a fire aspect on your shield Enjoy that!


-Zed Sword:

An Asgard Shield addon has been released. This provides players the ability to craft 5 Giant Swords which are also enchantable.

What is so special about these swords? Giant Swords are a sword and Shield together with their massive blades. They provide the same damage as their sword counter parts and roughly 1 and 1/2 more durability. Also they have no weakness, just slash -n- guarding!

Down side of using a Giant blade over Sword and Shield? While Giant swords can attack and guard effectively, they suffer by having no Vanguard ability, no special shield perks, and the durability goes faster then you think. Attacking and guarding will whittle down your sword if your not careful.


-New particle graphics when Guarding with a shield or sword. *Just watch your eyes for shrapnel!

-Stone Shield Recipe has changed: Now uses cobblestone rather then Stone. *Save your Coal for other stuff!!!

-Smartmoving Exhaustion has been adjusted. Down to .37 from .4 exhaust per tick. Guard More attack and better management for Vanguard attacks!!!

-Name change on Wood Shield and Gilded Wood Shield to Wooden. *Wooden shields just got more wood!

-Bug Squashedededed: I believe the sticky sword to shield ghost action bar button is gone.

Once I finished the porting from Modloader to Forge, I'll see what I can do for the rendering. Forge will allow me to do some pretty flashy things while keeping SMP intact. (that server merge with client has made Static variables a nightmare).

These flashy things, will be....
-HUD for Vanguard Charges
-Hopefully no more og.class edit
-And checking into rendering items.

NEWS: Asgard Shield is 80% Complete Finished Porting to Forge.

What does this mean? All the bonuses of Forge (Item sprites, texture sheets, ect), also a new HUD for Vanguard Charges. Also looking into various of hooks to remove the need of og.class modification (But that is a work in progress).

I know you must be busy or so with the BTW stuff but I couldn't think any of my favorite modders besides you to do this because I really,really enjoy what you have done. The shields/ giant swords mechanics are so awesome...

My idea:
A Sword based on the Stormbringer sword from Michael Moorcock's Elric novels:
It's suppoose to have this features:

Black runic sword w/ yours giant sword mechanic
Its kind of overpowered by itself: put enemies on fire and do 4 or + hearts of damage
Craftable with rare and weird materials(most of then from neather: Soulsand, bones, blaze rods and eye of ender ( or others very expensive conbinations)
It have Endless durability: but it feeds from the xp: when you hit a monster you do not gain xp the xp goes to the sword making it with infinit durability.
No passive armour
No/very low enchantability

Well thats it.

I really hope someday to see it made by you.

Yes the Giant sword you described can be easily designed. Now sadly I won't add any equipment that does not follow normal minecraft theme (hints why I made the crappy gold sword craftable XD) or any unbalanced items.

However, I'll will and have planned on releasing "Add-ons" to the Core Asgard Shield mod. So your "Black Runic Sword" (Needs a name) will be made, and other equipment that seems interesting.

But something to note: Matching sets are important. Have a matching shield concept aswell?

Yeah The "add ons" is the right thing to do. Unbalanced equipament sometimes kills the feeling of playing a regular minecraft. But addons are fun in specials adventures and stuff

Since i was being based in the universe of Elric of Melniboné - but not giving any chance to infringe copyright - I think a cool name would be "Chaos sword"

And for the the matching shield concept "Chaos shield!" something like: done with ghast tears and obsidian.
with something like that:

Durability: endless
Damage: 1/2 Heart
Passive Armor: 10% or 40% (i couldnt decide that)
Successful Block Chance: 100%
Knockback: 1 Blocks
Weakness: no enchantability or water
Special Perk:

Fire Extinguish and explosions

Dimeborg: This the sword your basing your idea on?




If so, it has to be an Ender eye or a Ruby if Mojang releases it for the middle. then as for the blade... Netherack, Netherbricks, or Obsidian.

Mostly comes down to either a Ender Blade theme or Nether Blade theme (same goes for the shield).

Feel free to make any changes you want in concept crafting, habilities, (even give up the idea), after all, is your mod

= D


And just for information about the origin of my concept (after all is a great series of fantasy books):

The stombringer sword have many different drawings. The 1961 book didn't mention a red gem in the middle, in the description of the sword but some of the pictures, have the gem (as the graphic novel's picture that you posted). As for the shield it belonged to a giant (former-god) in the stories.

NEWS: If there are enough votes, I'll release Nether and Ender themed shield and giant sword. (Ender themes are 20% complete, and Nether is still in planning stages).

So this set wiil be for the ender theme? if so , it will be awesome

As for the pics a like the evil eye kind( 1st pic in the left side that you posted but i also like the plan dark sword w/ red runes ( the last pic )

But if this will be a ender themed set i could think in the colors of the end portal frame a black or sandstone one w/ green an bluish details

the nether theme if you aloww me to sugest, a dark blade(obsidian maybe?) with red details
