Good to see the updates and the progress. This has always been (and likely always will be) one of my favorite mods since I found one of Proloe's first releases. Since she dropped it I was worried about its continuity, a few rookie modders (perhaps too harsh?) picked it up a few times but never really got it up off its feet again. I hope you will be doing just that! Keep up the great work so far!
Hello, 0xC6607Eo1! I'm glad to see someone attempting to update Steamcraft now. I have a question: How long do you plan on maintaining/improving this mod?
As a side note, there were a couple of things that I suggested to Proloe in the past about fixing parts of Steamcraft, I hope you'll look at them.
Cast Iron:
I know people have been sort of upset with it having the same recipe as Refined Iron in IndustrialCraft. Well, I think I have a fix for it that is inexpensive and makes absolute sense. This would require adding another, intermediate block but I think it's worth it. When researching what Cast Iron is, I found out that it's a re-melted form of Pig Iron, which is just Iron with a large amount of carbon in it. So I'm thinking that you just craft Iron Ore (the block) with Coal (which is primarily carbon) to make Pig Iron. Then smelt that to make Cast Iron.
Item IDs:
We were speaking about a week ago and that got me thinking about other ways that you can use Forge's item dictionary, Proloe. These are 2 items of which I can think of that could have the same IDs as 2 in IndustrialCraft 2 without disrupting anything, and making sense. I've looked and I don't think they can be abused if you actually apply these changes. Purified Copper having the same ID as Copper Dust and both Uranium items from the different mods.
May I just say that I'm really glad someone was finally willing to take up this task. I'm sorry to everyone for abandoning this mod back when I did last year, but a lot came up all at once, and I really couldn't hold onto it any more (in fact, I haven't even really played Minecraft since). I'm really glad you've taken control of it, and judging from how you've handled it so far, I think you'll do it justice. I'd be more than welcome to share a few of my old ideas over PM if you want. Also, be sure to pay attention to what people say, and to think about balancing. People's opinions are important in this, since they are the eventual consumers, but also make sure that nothing powerful is too easy to get, and nothing weak is too hard to get. It's somewhat difficult to get right, and I know I made a few mistakes on that front, but it's worth putting a lot of effort into, because it produces a better result. On the whole, though: make what you want to play, it will end up a lot more fun that way.
Also, I was really excited to hear you have a server port planned. Really exciting stuff. That was my eventual goal when I started this mod.
I will say, I don't particularly approve of your use of adf.ly without consulting me first, but in this case I'm fine with it, since you did recode it from scratch. I would prefer to have some more obvious credit, though, and perhaps a link to the original thread, since I did come up with all the original code and made all the graphics.

Forge isnt working for MCP7.0a for now.. sorry. but atleast i fixed the code for 1.2.5. It was so broken, I rewrote everything.

If you have been still active in minecraftforum, I would have asked you for full permission / and your own opinon on what to do, what to add to topic and everything else.

Yeah i used 1.3.2 as well and the recommended version.Also, i installed the 1.2.5 version successfully, but the blocks were not 3d in the inventory, used creative.
You seem to be forgetting the "mods" steamcraft_mod file in the download of 12w21c...

I cannot recreate OptiFine, its not under my control. talk to OptiFine creator, mabye they will make a sultion.
I think its being caused because of OptiFine replaces Forge's classes making a hole mixup.

Muskets take the Cartridges (and the Percussion with the caps) but don't actually reload the gun.
I cant seem to create many of the objects (even with too many items) shown in the screenshots and the recipe pictures are unclear to me.
The Steam oven's left part of the UI with the 0L and 1L markers seem to have no use, although i believe it uses water.
The Chemical Furnace does not seem to run although I used your smelting diagram to see what should work

Drills can not harvest most non-vanilla ores.
Aqualung gives an extra set of breath bubbles, but both sets deteriorate at normal speed, giving no advantage.
Kettles of tea have way too high durability.

Ive had the exact same problem as Copper Warrior here. This does seem to be a beautiful mod but i don't believe the installation works properly.
