I have made a temporary replacement for the SafeChat mod that works for 1.7.2,
It is called CleanBean, all it does is block the message if it contains any of the words listed in the config file. It was made by decompiling the old SafeChat code and making some of it work for the 1.7.2 Client.
1. download the zip and unzip it to your appdata > .minecraft > versions folder (inside the versions folder there should be a folder called cleanbean and inside the cleanbean folder there should be two files called cleanbean)
2. Open Minecraft
3. Click "New Profile"
4. In the profile name, type it as "cleanbean", all of it lower-case.
5. In the "use version" selection field, select "use cleanbean"
6. Save
7. Make sure in the profile dropdown list, "cleanbean" is selected
8 All done, click play. You may add or delete words in the config file that is located in the "config" folder of minecraft. The config file is called "cleanbean.properties".

This mod would not have been made at all if not for:
Colecf, the creator of SafeChat
bilde2910, the creator of ChatLog and the author of thisincredibly helpful tutorial
Beany, motivation and inspiration
And lastly but in no way least: Jesus who gave me compassion and love for all the kind-hearted people just wishing for simple things in life.
Using colecf's original 1.6.4 code, I went ahead and made a Forge-compatible version of this mod for minecraft v 1.7.10 (tested with Forge v 10.13.0.1180). Note that the initial time minecraft is launched with this mod it crashes (at least for me). However, this only happens once and then seems to work fine thereafter.
You can download the jar here (place in your mods folder)

Thank you SO much for making this mod. I have three kids that each have their own PC Minecraft account. I hated to make them turn off chat completely because they enjoy chatting with their friends. A few bad users ruin the entire gaming experience for kids with their foul language on some servers. I even wrote to Mojang asking them to please add a profanity filter for the end user (rather than relying on the server to do it). Your mod works PERFECTLY. Again, thank you so much for making this! Mojang/Microsoft needs people like you working for them! :-)
Hi Colecf! I have a question to ask. Before on my favorite factions server, I small text came across the screen as shown in the 1st picture below. But when i installed the mod with forge and ran it, it looked like as shown in the 2nd picture. Why is that? Can it be fixed? If so, can you release an update for safechat? Or is it fixable with your help?

Seems like several people did this, which is cool, but noone forked the github repo / created a pull request

I just logged onto that server with the new 1.10 version and didn't get that. Could you try it with the new version?

Thank you sooooooo much! I love this mod, it's one of my favorites, and I thought it was dead forever! I cannot believe it's back! You have made me very happy, in case you can't tell.
Oh, by the way, I thought you may want to know that the download link is broken. For some reason it leads to an HTML page which you have to download (at least for me, in Firefox), and you then have to open the HTML page in your browser to get redirected to the actual download link.
One last thing... would you mind linking me to the official repository? I can't seem to locate it on GitHub, and who knows, I may want to submit a pull request at some point... or someone else could.
Edit: Never mind, I found the link. For future reference, it's:
Yes, I'm one of these guys: If I say something that offends you or just seems wrong, please let me know. I was almost certainly just making a joke or a pun, or something really dumb like that, and didn't mean anything by it. Don't take anything I say too seriously!
So I love the mod. There is one problem tho. In certain games, it spams chat super badly. To where anything that would pop up above the hotbar it would put it in chat. Please make an update to fix it. That would be greatly appreciated! This mod is handy for making videos on big servers, but annoying because of the issue.
Just wondering, would you be able to make it so that it wont delete the whole message? Like safe chat does, I will try it out anyway though.
P.S. If you could make it like that just send me a download link or post it here again, as I think this mod is unfortunately dead
Or is it just dead

Nice I recently joined a factions sever and it was terrible. People were swearing everywhere. I can't wait to use it.

So your download link currently leads here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2223161/Safechat/forge.html
But I'm pretty sure it should lead here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2223161/Safechat/Safechat-1.10.jar

Edit 2: I'm not very smart. The link was on the front page of this thread the entire time. Heh.
May the ores be with you.

Is this a server side mod or does it require to be both server and client side?
And 4 years later, here's an update to 1.16.1.
Feel free to message me on github or discord (colecf#7917) if there's ever demand for updates in the future.
