In 2.1.6, the max is 24000. In 2.1.7, the max is 36000. That might be your problem. Keep in mind that changing the lava value alters more than just the Magmatic Engine - it also changes the cost of melting rock in the Magma Crucible.
1.4.7 and 1.4.6 are interchangeable. The posted version works.
Really? Oh... I usually play with only Redpower and Mystcraft, because I don't like the imbalance of IC and BC, but when I saw your mod I really liked it, so I decided to try it out. When playing it though, I realized that there was practically no early game way of getting passive MJ energy since Blulectric engines can't hook up to conduits/cells(Are you/Elo going to change this?) and I don't have Forestry/Steve's carts so no early game tree farm for charcoal and I don't have any renewable lava accept in the magma crucible... Do you think you could make a config to change the lava for only the Magmatic engines? Thanks in advance!

there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.
bug report:
you can still put lava cans into magmatic engines using hoppers and they land in the depreciated slot instead of filling it, to boot.
Just by the nature of how inventories work, you could use a Hopper to put diamonds in there as well. I could probably throw a quick hack into prevent it - not sure I consider this a bug so much as a quirk.
Honestly, I feel that the wiki does a pretty good job of explaining how to install the mod, and the mod itself is complex enough that people really need to be familiar with the wiki - as incomplete as it is - as well as NEI. I won't say no to an installation video, but I just don't see it as a huge deal myself.

Blulectric Engines work fine with both Cells and Conduits - the graphic issue on the conduits is entirely on Elo's end. You *may* have to temporarily place something else down next to the conduit that the engine is powering in order to change it from blue to orange (and see the change). You can then remove whatever powered device that was and it'll work fine. I believe Elo will be fixing this in the future.
I'll have to think on the Magmatic engine thing - the main point was that I wanted to prevent Cobblestone from being a viable fuel source; that's just too easy.
sounds like a simple enough fix then as far as the cobble -> lava, don't allow the magma crucible to do straight cobble to lava, it is a bit too easy for me to ever feel good about using to be honest at least personally and not only that it makes the magmatic engines a pain in the butt to automate cause of the not being able to overstock their inventory slot with cans.
maybe a good compromise would be allowing the magma crucible to turn cobble into nether rack and then turn that into lava, would be a lot more work and the MJ cost would be a bit more too since it would require two runs.
and yeah i agree on the quirk/bug status, just thought you should know about it just in case either way.

Oh! OK, that's great, now I can use my Blutricity with TE and have passive energy, thanks! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, not many modders do that! Good luck in the future with Thermal Expansion!
i hate to say it, but i think at least temporarily my magmatic engines are getting taken down, bit of a shame they used to be so perfect for charging my machines line and redstone energy cubes, now they're constantly shut off, with absolutely no way of ensuring they run long enough to be useful without running tons of piping or liquiducts all over the house.
i suppose i'll have to replace them with electric engines or something to that effect, too bad too i was doing really good about not setting up the more obnoxious IC2 machines.

This is not an answer. One of the reasons to implement my system is to cut off magma crucibles which eating all the incoming energy untill it gain 24000 MJ each, and shuts down all other machines untill them fully fills. So switching few hungry crucibles with one hungry redstone energy cell is not an option I'm just don't have enough time to wait them fully charge each time I want to pulverize some ores.
The only option for now is to running back and forth with the crescent hammer and manually destroy one of the redstone conduit to kill the flow of the energy.
Besides, I think it's some kind of a glitch, becouse it's works perfectly with the power engines directly connected wia buildcraft energy pipes.
Unfortunately, that method does require 600000MJ to fill up the energy cell, as the redstone signal disables the cell's output but not its input. However, once the cell is full it does act like a switch and doesn't waste energy. You can even set the exact amount of energy you want to go through the cell. You're right, it is a glitch that moving the conduit doesn't break the connection.
Perhaps try a combination of both. Make an energy cell, set the input and output to the exact amount of energy you want to go through (so it doesn't store any) and then use frames to move the cell.
try using a block breaker and deployer as an interim work around until redstone energy cells are fixed or the breakers are added guys, not positive it works quite yet but i can't think of any reason why it wouldn't, may have to test it once to see the direction the conduit gets put in by the deployer and then setup a redstone pulse to a omni-wrench in the deployer to pulse it the right amount of times to re-orient them but hopefully they'll be placed correctly dumb-firing it.

cool, i wasn't sure about the orientation thing but i had a hunch the conduits would figure out what was up.

You should add something similar to the recycler from IC2. I want something to do with all my junk other than just throwing it away but I'm definitely not installing IC2.
I cant seem to install TE 1.4.7.3... cant seem to get it to work. Either way, the only reason I wanted to install it was to find out more about
"-Changed: Magma Crucible has been rebalanced a bit.
-Changed: Netherrack to Lava conversion is more expensive - this new default value IS enforced upon updating. You may still change it in the config file."
parts. Can you go into a little more detail?
If the default Netherrack to lava conversion exceeds 19k MJ, I may as well be using cobble, since theres no profit. I understand you dont want cobble to be a fuel source (too easy), but if Netherrack gets to this point, lava generation is nigh impossible. Anyway, can you let me know what values exactly were changed? And what the "re-balancing" involves? My idea is to get a fully automatic lava generator going. The only thing I need is a better way of getting soul sand than scrap boxes/ tunnel bore. Once passive soul sand is in, I can cook it to vile dust, combine it with glowstone dust (witch soul shard) for corrupted essence, which I can use to cook Cobblestone into Netherrack using a soul forge. Output that to a Magma Crucible and we would have passive Netherrack generation, without requiring power for recyclers for scrap boxes or a tunnel bore loading ridiculous amount of map in the Nether. Of course, if the default requirement is above 19k MJ that entire idea goes ut the window. Regardless, really enjoying the mod, and can't wait for those tesseracts ;-)
Netherrack now costs 12000 MJ, and cobblestone/stone/obsidian 24000 MJ. You still make a profit from netherrack, but it's 3/4 of what it was before, assuming the energy you get from the lava in a magmatic engine is still equal to the energy needed to make the lava.
I hope someone can help me. We have a Server with A LOT of mods. Everything (we tried until now) works fine, but some guys was trying the thermal expansion out and now we have a crash. Probably something with the magmatic crucible and Hoppers or maybe a combination with the Stacks of Netherrack inside the Hopper. Here the Crashlog:

Hi KingLemming!
I'm using your mod in the FTB Mod pack but I cant figure out how to use liquiducts, and I cant find a mod spotlight of the version with liquiducts.
So basicly... How do you use them?
they need a redstone signal is the problem, i've been hoping to get that flopped around too but kinglemming said they don't want to because it would break old worlds.
