The new texture system really isn't that hard to use. You're just using it wrong. Open Photoshop, or a similar program, and configure the grid to be 16x16 pixels, then turn it on. Boom. Instant squares that you can fill in to your liking for more textures. All you have to do from there is know what number space it is and assign it to a block.
Little help. I want to make a new fuel heres my code:
id: 100001
itemname: Dense Coal
maxstack: 64
texture: My Items[0]
recipe:"CCC,C C,CCC"
mapping:C:263
itemtype:coal
fuel:64
EDIT: I want to use a new texture page
Can you use trigger item and just only one item and not have a second item? I want to right click a block with an item and have the block change, but not have another item pop out of the block or be added to my inventory.
is learning to code hard? i looked into it for a split second and it scared the **** outta me and i quit cold turkey.
I personally find Java quite easy, but I've had experience. At first, I had no idea what I was doing. I had to decide to learn to mod several times before I actually learned. I actually got started modding using a tutorial on YouTube. I found looking at only a small section of code at a time useful, unlike picking the biggest file there was and trying to figure out what was going on.... Since I like logical thinking, I visualized the code as logic in the form of words, and now I can look at a string and think "Oh, that's saying to do something in another file with these values" or "so, add 1 to this variable every second". I used a similar technique when learning redstone. I just pictured everything as physical logic. This might not work for you, but it did for me, and I bet this is a much longer answer than what you were hoping for.
how can you make the texture of a block smaller? i want to use the texture of a block from another texture pack which is 32x32 but it obviously won't fit.

i'm not sure but isn't this just a recoded customstuff?
Yeah, Thats what I'm thinking. There is already a mod for this by Cubex2 named "Custom Stuff 2". Also you can make liquids, grenades, and more! plus it has been in development at least since forge for 1.2.5 came out (Thats when I learned about it.) so it is more up to date
