As many of you may know: I have been laying low to the public. However development to a certain extent still continues. So it never was dead..
There are 3 main issues shaking up development. First off is my lack of actual java experience, and fast learning- due to this you may have noticed as the mod develops mechanics improve greatly. this results in hunks of newbie content left behind, so there's some cleaning up going there. Second thing is the preperation to beta.
Right now I have been observing the players, and watching some LPs made, a couple of aspects are a bit hard to figue out, some could do with improving and some could be removed. The third thing is the part where the newer updates coming out. (enough said from others about the problems there)
Now initially I was skipping 1.6(thinking it was only half done and 7 was easier).. being wrong about that- it gets much worse.. So the 1.6 mod version is being cleaned up and that will be released when it's ready. As for updating to 7 and higher: there are complications: I do not actually know javacode, but still have learnt about modding. the new Minecraft Forge versions for 1.7 are designed for those who do know the language. So you can see there are a few problems there. since they changed the rules, I may have to start from scratch(and re-learn some things)
When it comes to the new versions: Best bet is to remake this mod from scratch (ofcourse the new instance would be an improvement). However if this were to be made from scratch, it is wise to wait until MC stops updating first. The second option is to find someone who knows enough about both modding, and javacode to handle updating this.
In the meantime: Best option is to remain on the earlier versions. the 1.6 instance is working, and a few things are being removed. at the end of the day hopefully
there will be a more functional MF out(it may only be on 1.6 but that's probably what most mods are settling on). But expect some stray content to be removed. Note that despite there is a team set up for updating, their not actually working on the mod. the 6 version is working, and there's no real issues anymore. (one thing being a pest on a rare occasion, but theres no solution to that yet). In advance: there are some things being taken out. some might approve some may not. things like this happen.

Now why keep quiet this time?
By choice really. it's a decent thing to have time to think without bother. this way you dont have to expect an answer. (sure not the "nicest" thing to do. but whatever). My real identity and modding identity are 2 different characters. Neither will be mentioned to one another.
Now regards to what I expect you might 'Suggest' to help with improving things: Here are some
answers so you not need to bother.
1.6 forged horse armour:
I have looked at the coding there.. and that is impossible.. from a coding perspective: horse armour doesn't actually exist. hence the fact the items dont take damage. It's just a skin change and variables. (im surte 1.7 or later would add mod support, but not 6). So yeh. it's not getting added because it can't.
Minefantasy horse alternative(like hounds):
Their probably not worth it. adding my own mob would improve mechanics and allow other things as such.. but their not really that great.
Battlegear2 Hearaldy / shields:
This mechanic isn't fully implemented, and hasn't got proper mod support. Id imagine it would be out soon, but not now. as for shields. someone will be making an extention that adds them. Duel wielding and quiver support should be working fine. (doesnt apply to crossbows, so either way theyll still shoot the best bolt in inv)
Thaumcraft4 support:
Yes I know it's out, but support(in relations to the essentia) will not be added right away. that takes a lot of time. as this mod has a lot of items and blocks
Crafting book:
Now sure... Other mods might do this. But I can't find a way to do it properly, due to the fact There's no real public info in how to properly do it, and MF adds a lot of processes with all their different shapes and sizes. NEI would have support. and the plugin would update whenever it can. Long story short: it doesnt matter how many times you say it. its not getting added for a reason.
World Regeneration:
A few mods out allow their worlds to generate in pre-existing worlds.. Though it didn't work very well when it was put together on my end.. It might be working eventually. it's ready when it's ready...
Armour weight disable:
Alright I did it! if you want to mess up the tiering of things and overpower yourself be my guest!
(there's also a way to add nonMF items to a list of different armour presets)
Seperate mods to an expansion;
I noticed that mentioned some pages back.
Problem with extentions is (well for the 1.5/6 Mcp anyway) you can only have 1 mod per instance. has problems with many. so micromanaging them is a pest
and seperating the 2 mods means the standardMF will be overpowered. (as the mobs compensate for the added tiers). and there's things like dragon steel I'm not sure where they would go.
as for any out of character subjects: I don't exist..
wow... the first message I get back is the thing that takes out both common sense and the part that properly allows implementation of tiers.... (first of all it's mentioned in the post I said). second yeh. if you want to mess everything up and waste a bunch of items.. yeh go ahead
HAHAHA that first comment back made me laugh so hard. Like im just so curious on if they actually read the spoiler? Why would reading that be harder then waiting for a reply? hehe such things must be ignored. I maintain that the minecraft forum is full of relentless trolls and that nobody is that thick for real.
Anyways, great to see you back AP and very excited to see what happens as this develops minecraft is on hiatus for me until this mod catches up.
I would like to help beta test. And if you do get some people to test, would you rather have us play in a fresh survival, or look at things in creative mode?
Bit of both: A lot of stuff is clean: so there's no real need for any more testers. But if you want, support the wiki and plugins. It would be nice to see the wiki ready for a new version, and plugins to go with (the NEI plugin needs to adapt before a release.. but the creator isn't very active)
This mod seems amazing, reminds me of TerraFirmaCraft, but with more compatibility, and also like BTW, but with ACTUAL compatibility, I'll follow this closely
im thinking of making an expansion with magical loot and stuffs, which would be found in dungeons. however, i suck at making dungeons, so if any of you can make a sexy dungeon or three for me to use, that'd be amazing. same goes for mob models and textures.
Since I don't know any other way to talk to the content pack maker for Battlegear 2, I wanted to ask if there could be different types of shields. Examples would be round shields, kite shields, and tower shields scaling in that order with longer block times and slow you based on the size of the shield.
