Open the minecraft.jar in something like WinZip, WinRar, 7-zip, etc
Open the HardcoreToCreative.zip file
Copy the .class files from HardcoreTocreative.zip into minecraft.jar
Delete the META-INF directory in minecraft.jar

I play vanilla Minecraft, if you use additional mods I suggest creating a test hardcore map and killing yourself to verify it works before relying on this with your installed mods
If MCPatcher shows conflicts and/or this does not work for you, please list all installed mods and modifications you have made to Minecraft while reporting the problem so I can do my best to reproduce it
I will do my best to monitor this thread for issues/suggestions and keep up to date with Minecraft updates, I will not monitor other sources
If you would prefer a version that does not stop you from breaking and/or placing blocks after death let me know and I will create a version for that.

This is wonderful, wonderful, absolutely magnificant. This is great for youtubers, who do hardcore LPs and they can just do a tour after the die, I support +1
Sadly, about 10 minutes after I did so I died on my long running hardcore save. 1x1 lava pit i didn't see, which wouldn't have been a problem if my water bucket were in a slot like it normally is... Oh well, the mod did its job ; )

With this mod, when you die in hardcore mode you don't have to lose everything you've worked towards.
Upon death your world will save, and then is changed to creative mode, and the name of your world gets prefixed with [gameover]
