So I'm trying to get IC2 ores to generate in a new world using Custom Ore Gen and I'm having some troubles. The only configs for IC2 I could find on here that were already done were pretty old so I figured I'd make my own.
I did this by copying the relevant code for Iron (presets and distribution) and then changing all the variables/functions/whatever to be named for Copper, Tin, or Uranium as appropriate. (used emeralds as a base for uranium). For now I haven't messed with the actual values for amount/frequency of the ores, they are the same as Iron.
I think that I have matched the iron generation exactly except for the obvious name changes, and I think I have the proper block name for the IC2 ores, but it isn't working. I'm using 'blockOreCopper', 'blockOreTin', and 'blockOreUran' which is the block names in the IC2 config file (also tried it with the block IDs, no help).
Every time I try to gen a new world I get this error:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Invalid parameters for 'CopperVeins':
Ore block descriptor `blockOreCopper=1.0` matches Block descriptor `blockOreCopper=1.0` doesn't match any registered blocks. no blocks. Replaceable block descriptor `stone=1.0` matches 1 blocks. Biome descriptor `.*=1.0` matches 51 biomes.
If I comment out the added lines of code then the mod works normally and generates ore properly.
Does anyone have any idea what this message could mean? My coding knowledge is fairly limited.

MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THE BLOCK ID's TO THE ID's OF YOUR ORES!
You may also want to increase the frequency depending on how many other ores you have in your game, my server has 120 different ores so the frequencies here are low so that there isn't ore all over the place.

If you've disabled the IC2 ore gen in its config file... turn it back on. It also disables the ore blocks entirely.
Well, I know what I want it to do, but I don't know who to make it do it is more of what I mean... Like I want the Water-Infused Stone to generate in smallish veins in Ocean, Ice Plains, Swamp, and Taiga biomes, but I have no such idea of how to write it into the config, or even which config to put it in...
If you would like me to explain the rest of them, I don't mind, but I really would like some help setting them up. ^-^"
You can put your own distributions in the main config file (CustomOreGen_Config.xml). Near the end there is a section marked for that sort of thing. Your basic veins will look like this:
You can find the blockID and metaValue for each ore in the creative menu if you have item details enabled (F3+H). You can change the biome for each vein, and remove that line entirely for veins that spawn in all biomes. To customize further, see the pages on the COG wiki.
JRoush is there a tag to disallow spawning in a biome?
I know there is <Biome/>, but this only tells the ore which biome it's allowed to spawn in, how would you tell an ore which biome it's _not_ allowed to spawn in (so that I don't have to add every single biome to its spawn list if I just don't want it to spawn in a single biome) ?
or does it not have this functionality? If it doesn't, could you add it?

Thank you for telling my where they go, but the thing is that I don't know all that xml stuff, and when I try reading it, I just get a head ache... D: And I already know about BlockID and metaValue, but I don't understand how to get them to have the options like the default ones and such. D: The examples in the Wiki are abit vague for me to understand how they actually work, and alot of the pages don't have a really example... .-.
Edit:
Also, is there a way to make it where a ore can generate in any biome, but in certain Biomes they would generate ether more or less? Or is there no way to control that without have a bunch of separate settings for it?
Edit #2:
Also, I see that a player can make their own MystCraft Symbol for ores with this mod... Is there a way to make a Symbol that will distribute ore veins that only appear in certain biomes (like the Water-Infused Stone) appear everywhere? Like if you have a setting for the ore to appear in certain biomes in the Overworld, can you have a symbol the kinda overrides that and allows the veins to be anywhere?
Thank you for telling my where they go, but the thing is that I don't know all that xml stuff, and when I try reading it, I just get a head ache... D:
I would suggest that you start with the example I gave and try making your own for the other ores. It should be fairly straightforward. Once you are more comfortable with the basics you can move on to advanced things like custom config options, per-biomes frequencies, and mystcraft symbols.

Ok, I think I got this, but jsut to make sure, does this look right?
I am using most of the default settings, with some stuff I added in on my own... o.o
Main thing I am worried about is the Biomes, I want them to spawn in all the biomes really, but I want them more frequent in the Biomes I typed out... o.o
Nvm, finally got it working, now I only need to find out how to make it show up like the other options (Coal, Iron Gold, etc.) and learn how to make the symbols for MystCraft. :3
Ok, I think I got this, but jsut to make sure, does this look right?
You will need to change "VeinsPreset" to "Veins" (VeinsPreset is only for establishing defaults and doesn't actually generate ore). You will also definitely need to lower the MotherlodeFrequency - something closer to 0.02 would be more reasonable. I would suggest reducing the overall size - cut BranchLength, SegmentLength, and MotherlodeSize down some. Other than that, it looks good. Those biome weights will make the veins 1/4th as common outside of the biomes you have listed. Be sure to try it out in-game (use an xray mod or enable the debugging wireframes) to tune size and frequency.

Yeah, i found the "preset" part out already. And I only had the default stuff up so I could see if it was working. :3 I already tweaked the biomes around alittle more and added one other of the ores (a bit more useless one) to the generation. :3
Here is my final result so far:
Also, who do I make the different settings show up as options like the default ones are?
And all I need to know for the Mystcraft Symbols is in the wiki, right? Not much to change what I already have? Where would they go? in the config as will?
I assume I'm making some kind of stupid mistake. I've got the newest versions of everything as far as I can tell, but when I try to launch with COG installed I get this

Options and mystcraft Symbols are defined in the config file alongside your distributions. To make an option or symbol control a distribution you need to wrap the distribution in a conditional element. For example:
I assume I'm making some kind of stupid mistake. I've got the newest versions of everything as far as I can tell, but when I try to launch with COG installed I get this
Exception in thread "Minecraft main thread" java.lang.VerifyError: (class: mod_CustomOreGen, method: onTickInGame signature: (FLnet/minecraft/client/Minecraft;)Z) Incompatible argument to function
I don't know what would cause this. Is there anything unusual about your installation? Make sure you have java 6 or 7 and then try redownloading + reinstalling Forge and COG. If that does not work, report it to the Forge/FML team - maybe they can make some sense of it.

Well, what I meant is for the different options for the generation, like the Cloud, Vein, and Cluster options... How do I get it where it actually show up.
And thank you, though I don't understand what you mean by "wrap the distribution"... o.o

Here's my IC2 config i posted on the last page.
You may also want to increase the frequency depending on how many other ores you have in your game, my server has 120 different ores so the frequencies here are low so that there isn't ore all over the place.
If you've disabled the IC2 ore gen in its config file... turn it back on. It also disables the ore blocks entirely.
I have disabled it. Could that be what's stopping the whole thing? Grr. Let me try that. I guess I'll have to set COG to strip the ores too.
You can find the blockID and metaValue for each ore in the creative menu if you have item details enabled (F3+H). You can change the biome for each vein, and remove that line entirely for veins that spawn in all biomes. To customize further, see the pages on the COG wiki.
I can look into it. Are you having problems with the Mediafire link?
This. IC2 ore is all-or-nothing, which is one of the main reasons why I added <Substitute>.
Ok, I think I got this, but jsut to make sure, does this look right?
I am using most of the default settings, with some stuff I added in on my own... o.o
Main thing I am worried about is the Biomes, I want them to spawn in all the biomes really, but I want them more frequent in the Biomes I typed out... o.o
Nvm, finally got it working, now I only need to find out how to make it show up like the other options (Coal, Iron Gold, etc.) and learn how to make the symbols for MystCraft. :3
I don't know what would cause this. Is there anything unusual about your installation? Make sure you have java 6 or 7 and then try redownloading + reinstalling Forge and COG. If that does not work, report it to the Forge/FML team - maybe they can make some sense of it.
You can find the latest version here.
Well, what I meant is for the different options for the generation, like the Cloud, Vein, and Cluster options... How do I get it where it actually show up.
And thank you, though I don't understand what you mean by "wrap the distribution"... o.o
I'm trying to get decay blocks to generate by COG.
Black decay generates just fine.
I can't get anything for the white -- not even the gold ore in that test.
I see the white lumps for the motherlodes.
But if I dig down there, there's nothing.

Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
And, the two black decay lines generate black decay (for sinkholes) at both height levels.
But the one that is supposed to generate down in bedrock does nothing. Even when I tested it at Y=8, above the bedrock, still nothing.
