It is still broken, on both the copy, and the main download. Still pops up a warning saying that it could harm my computer. I click keep, and it says corrupted or broken.
I just tried all of them and they work fine. Perhaps something in your firewall is sending that message since it's a jar file and not a zip.
Last week, some things developed in real life that prevent me from continuing with my commitments regarding Minecraft and gaming, in general. It is with a heavy heart that I have spent the last several days working with MisterFiber to transition the mod's development assets to him.
Completely by coincidence, we recently added Exterminator Jeff to our team. Jeff shares my philosophies on mod development and MisterFiber has selected him to replace me leading the development effort. Jeff and I have discussed the plans I had for ExtrabiomesXL and I know he is capable of fulfilling the vision. Please welcome and support him the way you have me.
I doubt much will change, as I heavily relied on my teammates--most of what you see day to day is them. The team is committed to success and I look forward to seeing what they produce in the future.
I have been very verbal about my appreciation for this community. As I exit, I hope that many of you will recognize the efforts that those on this team make every day and that you will have respect for the examples they lead. This thread is different than others because of their commitment to patience and politeness. I would ask you to follow their lead.
I realize that this announcement is rather dramatic. I personally hate drama and apologize to you for that aspect of this. I can assure you that my reasons for leaving are actually rather banal.

Wow, that's quite the announcement, man. Your work on/with this mod has made Minecraft a ton more exciting and interesting! I've actually had more fun on this forum than any other, sometimes just screwing around. Even though the team that is running this will do an excellent job, your personal presence will be greatly missed. Thank you for your hard work and putting up with my mind-numbingly stupid questions through the (MC) years. Take care of yourself first and foremost. Thanks again.

I don't see that happening...at least not in the near future. We are more a biome/terrain focused mod...not a creature mod. There are already several creature based mods such as Atmos Mobs and Mo'Creatures just to name a couple that work really well and their creatures spawn in our biomes.
I thought I'd post a status update for the upgrade to 1.5. There's 176 errors currently but most of these are duplicates of the same issues. I'm not too familiar with the code at the moment so I don't want to rush things are release something that's buggy but I don't expect this should take too long.

Heh, I'm also working on it. Mostly fixing modified and removed subroutines and fields and adapting to work with the new texture system. Same as always, but it's the first time I've done this in a while. Nice to be back! *lean back*

Well, Scott's resignation shocked me to say the least. I wish him the best and hope he's still able to occasionally make an appearance. He will be missed.

The reason that I have not been able to play since swamps is because I simply hate them. I'm not one of those "The current terrain sucks" people, but the swamps are just stupid. They are ugly, pointless (besides the rare witch) and go on forever. It is like a sickening spot in my world that makes it ugly.
I have been trying to counsel myself (lol) to make myself like them, and am working on it. Granted, basically every biome in Minecraft can be considered 'pointless' I suppose, it just adds to the variation and exploration (although this mod is what makes exploration worth while).

worrying is using your imagination to create things you don't want to.
They're usually pretty small unless you have it on large biomes. Depending on your mod line-up they are where you find most of the rubber trees which are invaluable. They're the perfect place to find slimes which again are a valuable resource..mushrooms are fairly common, I believe some ore types are more common there.. Don't get me wrong, you don't have to like them, but they really aren't pointless. Turn them off in config if you don't want them to exist

Ive just about worked out now that you are part of the EBXL team (sory it should have been obvious but nearly all threads have a wannabe team meber [not saying your a wannabe] I just didnt know any better).
For what its worth ive decided to post to say I dont think youll be able to prevent that kind of spam. I think you shouldl take it as a compliment that your mod is very popular. Not to say that pointing people to previously asked questions/page 1/the search function shouldnt be the norm, I do it when I see people posting in a thread I like.
It seems like MisterFiber is working on the code ? For so long (and again exscuse me for not knowing better) it seemed that ScottKillen was EBXL. (Im a latecomer to the party). I was very excited when I heard about Undergroundbiomes and EBXl merge/collaboration. Ive not actually used Underground biomes because im deep in the middle of a server build/mod test but it looks awesome. I wanted soemthing like that for a long time (relatively) and could only find terrafirmacraft, which is awesome but I wanted soemthing simpler that could work better with other mods.
Anyway I hope you guys arent duplicating work, and have found ways to work well together for the future of this mod (non coder, dont look at github apart from your wiki and scotts blogs). I was slightly concerned about the race coment (im sure it was flipant and tongue in cheek).
I hope for the best for this mod. It is already my defaulyt (and only) biome mod, highlands and BoP look good but I think EBXL 4 will kill other biome mods (in the minds of the sane and certainly mine).

Yes, Mister Fiber is working on the code as well as Exterminator Jeff who taking Scott's place on the team. Yes, Scott was a huge part of EBXL and is greatly missed. He not only did amazing work for our mod but wrote a lot of hooks for Forge and helped other mod makers when they needed help. I am sure Exterminator Jeff will do a great job as well and will keep EBXL moving in the direction it needs to go and we will get Underground Biomes and Forgotten Nature merged in with v4. =)
What racist comment are you referring to? I've not seen anything racist said...and if it was I'm surprised a moderator didn't remove it.
I'm not sure as while I have always wanted to try that mod...we play with so many mods on our server that we could never get it to work. EBXL normally works with most Forge mods and even ones that aren't since we don't modify any base classes.

If I remember correctly someone asked this some time ago and Scott said that they could use the mod and then just turn off all the biomes. Of course there are some vanilla biomes that can't be turned off as they are hard coded and part of how MC generates the world. If you do turn off any of our biomes, make sure that you also turn off the village generation to that biome as well as it can sometimes cause crashes if you tell it to create a village in a biome that doesn't exist anymore.
I hardly ever find swamps...ofc with 5 mods that generate biomes...it greatly reduces the chance of ever finding one. However, when I did come across one they were never very big....although I wish I had as I love the swamp biome both vanilla and the one added by EBXL. I don't find them ugly and you are right...almost any biome could be considered pointless. Everyone has certain things they like and don't like....personally I hate the Nether and never go there and they could remove it from MC and I would never miss it...lol. The only biomes I find that go on forever are oceans and snow ones...and I hate snow ones!
The race in question was the dev's joking that they would beat each-other to finishing the 1.5 port. There was nothing in any way negative about it. Unless I was completely misreading. They were just having fun
The biomes that drive me nuts are jungles and snow. The jungles take so long to traverse, and everything is trying to stop me or trip me. If I spawn in one I just make a new world. They are useful I just hate being in them. Decent to be outside and just looking at them though.

So I simply have to place this jar file (which I now have 10 copies of XD ) into my mods folder as it is?
Yes, just place the jar file in the mods folder. Don't extract it.
