Ever wanted to add more music to your Minecraft, but every mod that does it isn't satisfactory? They use up all your sprite indices, take hours to download, and/or are shabbily made by novice modders who don't really know what they're doing?
This mod is here to help you. Currently, the main download is ~24 megabytes, which shouldn't take longer than a minute on a below-average internet connection. There are no plans to make it bigger, either. It uses the Forge sprite API, so you don't have to worry about running out of image space. And the records actually display correctly -- no "C418 - NeverGonnaGiveYouUp" here!
And to top it off, you can add an UNLIMITED* amount of custom discs to play your own songs, and create albums of discs to share with others!
Here's a short, outdated mod summary by setosorcerer of version 1.0. quick note: as far as I am aware, all those songs in the "Copyrighted" chest are under Creative Commons Share and Share Alike license. I gave credit to the original authors so it should be fine. If anyone complains, I can add links or remove them if neccessary.

Better video coming soon, I hope.
*: in reality, you're limited to around 12,000 discs because of item IDs. No sane person should be able to reach this limit on a sane computer. Download and Installation
Note: v0.7b is not by default compatible with Better than Wolves! However, I have created a patch for it. The Portable Disc Player is the ONLY expansion that can be used with Better than Wolves.
Download v0.7b Patch for Better than Wolves compatibility: Here
[Why are there no downloads before v0.5? Because those versions were buggy, did not use MCForge, and were outdated before this thread was created.]
Simply open up the ZIP and copy the contents to %appdata%/.minecraft and it's installed! No messy editing of minecraft.jar! It can be uninstalled at any time by deleting the KBI mod folder from .minecraft/mods.
Recipes and Other Stuff
After installing, you probably want to know how to get all these awesome new discs (and all the awesome old ones, too). Well, there are three ways to do this.
1: Use Creative Mode, Not Enough Items, or Too Many Items and scroll towards the bottom of the list (or the middle if you use a lot of mods like Industrial Craft 2 or InfiCraft).
2: Find a dungeon and raid it -- there's likely to be a disc or two in there, especially if you're using expansions.
3: Craft some blank discs, some music sheets, and then combine them.
Blank Disc recipe:
(In case you can't tell, that's obsidian, glass panes, and iron ingots.)
Once you have blank discs, make music sheets for whatever discs you want to obtain and then combine a sheet with a blank disc. Example for C418's 13:
Vanilla Sheet Recipes:
C418 - 13: Paper, Dandelion Yellow, Bonemeal
C418 - Cat: Paper, Lime Dye
C418 - Blocks: Paper, Rose Red
C418 - Chirp: Paper, Redstone Dust
C418 - Far: Paper, Dandelion Yellow, Lime Dye
C418 - Mall: Paper, Purple Dye, Light Blue Dye
C418 - Mellohi: Paper, Purple Dye, Bonemeal
C418 - Stal: Paper, Ink Sac
C418 - Strad: Paper, Bonemeal
C418 - Ward: Paper, Cactus Green, Lime Dye
C418 - 11: SECRET!
New Disc Sheet Recipes:
Qwertygiy - Stewed: Paper, Mushroom Stew
Qwertygiy - Where the Forest Meets the Rapids: Paper, Sapling, Water Bucket
Qwertygiy - Axel F Quick Rock Remix: Paper, Blaze Powder
More on the custom disc: Put a .wav or .ogg file into /KBI/albums or a subfolder, then go to /config/KBI, open up More Music Discs.cfg, and edit the required lines. You can set up an unlimited amount of custom discs; only 1 is enabled by default.
In version 1.1, recipes are as given above. In version 1.2, however, you can specify the recipe. Paper is included automatically. Here's an example custom disc, from one of the albums:
This mod has achievements [that work again in v1.2, yay]! There are two paths added, one for sheets and one for discs.
The path for sheets goes: Airplane Time (make paper) -> Composer (make a music sheet)
The path for discs goes: DIAMONDS! -> World's Worst-tasting Donuts (make blank discs) -> Set a Record (make a music disc) -> Eleven (find the secret disc recipe) OR -> Out of Tune (uncover the hidden feature of the PDP)
Albums: How To
Replacing the old "expansion" system is a much, much better one -- albums of custom discs! Similar to Flan's Mod's vehicles and guns, you can create albums of custom discs and publish them for others to use.
How to install albums:
Run Minecraft at least once after installing this mod.
Once you have downloaded an album and the game has created the folders necessary, extract the folder from inside the .ZIP archive and place it inside the folder located at .minecraft/KBI/albums. Then run Minecraft, and all the new discs and sheets will be available for you to use. All albums can be fully configured through the text file inside each folder.
How to create albums:
The mod will search /KBI/albums for any subfolders. Once a subfolder has been found, it will search it for a text file which name matches the name of the subfolder. For example, if you have a subfolder titled "Beethoven", your text file needs to be called "Beethoven.txt" or "Beethoven.cfg". Run Minecraft once after doing this to generate the basic format of the file. Then, increase the "Number of Discs=0" variable to the number of discs you wish to include in your album. (To add songs, put them in the same subfolder as the text file. WAV and OGG files only! Make sure not to share the same music name as any other songs in other albums.) Run Minecraft again, and it will add the lines to create each disc. Customize each line the way you would a custom disc.
If you need more information, check out one of my expansions and figure it out that way, or check out this post
List of Albums
All official KBI albums can be found here. If you have created an album, PM me to get it added here!
BUGZ!
No known errors for v1.2; please report any you find!
Compatibility
Is it compatible with Minecraft Forge? If so, then More Music Discs should be compatible. If you come across an ID conflict and items are being overwritten, there is a configuration file at .minecraft/config/KBI/More Music Discs.cfg (.minecraft/config/mod_kbidiscs.cfg and mod_kbidiscsRadio.cfg in versions prior to 1.1). You can change IDs there, and any albums will have similar configuration options inside their text file.
Inter-Compatibility
In v1.0 on forward, MMD takes advantage of the Forge Ore Dictionary to provide alternate recipes for the blank disc! Instead of iron, you can use other metals from Forge mods such as RedPower or IndustrialCraft or Orizon. Here's what you can use:
Tin - 4 discs
Silver - 8 discs
Refined iron - 6 discs
Steel - 5 discs
Aluminum - 2 discs
There is also a little feature those of you with Equivalent Exchange 2 will enjoy: As of version 1.1, ALL discs and sheets, along with all the vanilla discs, have EMC values according to their recipes. The PDP can also be put into a Transmutation Tablet or Energy Condenser for some quick EMC. If you don't have EE2 installed, no worries; it's just an extra feature and not an essential part of the mod.
Changelog
v1.2: Major update, part 2. The Portable Disc Player's base-class edit was eliminated, allowing me to bundle it into the main mod like I wanted to do months ago. Sounds are no longer in /resources/mod/streaming, but inside a new /KBI/albums folder. Custom content packs, or albums, can now be created by creating a subfolder inside /KBI/albums and making a text file sharing the name of the subfolder.
v1.1: Major update. Changed the configuration system to Forge instead of MLProp, moving it to config/KBI/More Music Discs.cfg. This system allows for infinite custom discs. Also fixed the Ore Dictionary recipes (I accidentally had the recipes replace obsidian instead of iron! >.<) and added Aluminated-compatible recipes for blank discs and the PDP. All expansions can now be fully configured in the same file as the main mod, and Forge features will be disabled in expansions as well as the main mod if set as such in the configuration file. EE2 EMC values were also created for all discs and sheets in all expansions except custom discs.
v1.0: Updated to Minecraft 1.2.5. Added EMC values to all main-download discs and the PDP; added alternate Ore Dictionary recipes for the blank disc; added a config option for Better than Wolves compatibility; added an option to have up to 5 custom discs instead of just 1; and added a pitch-altering function to the PDP when another PDP is anywhere in the inventory. Also added Jemmzy's Axel F Remix to the main mod, taking over the old custom disc's item ID. 1.2.4 expansions are compatible with v1.0 and do not require an update.
==END OF ALPHA==
v0.8: Updated to Minecraft 1.2.4 and added MUCH more configuration for the custom disc. All expansions have been updated. The source code should not need an update; if I'm wrong please let me know and I'll fix it ASAP. Enjoy!
Between Updates: Finally got out that Portable Disc Player; however, I had to edit a base class to do it, so it's an expansion and not included in the main download. Also, created a patch for Better than Wolves compatibility for the main mod. The Portable Disc Player is the only compatible expansion.
v0.7b: Updated to Minecraft 1.2.3 with the update of Minecraft Forge. Also updated the source code and all of the expansions.
Between Updates: Added another expansion, Qwerty's Favorites. 8 expensive new discs of some of my favorite non-copyright songs.
v0.7: Added 6 achievements to the main mod. 3 each come after "Time to Farm" and "DIAMONDS!".
Between Updates: Added the second expansion, NASCAR '98 Soundtrack. This adds the 4 rock songs used as the background music in the PlayStation 1 game "Nascar 1998" by EA Sports. It was so long ago, the songs was originally stored in a .WAV format so huge that each song was larger than 25 megabytes! Fortunately, technology has changed a lot since then, and the whole expansion is less than 6 megabytes.
Also added the Aether Expansion, which adds the 6 background songs from the Beta 1.7.3 and Minecraft 1.0.0 mod, the Aether Collaboration.
v0.6: Very minor adjustments, including changing the sprite of one of the discs to a more fitting color. Also fixed the bug mention below in the expansion.
Between Updates: Added the first expansion, C418's Background Music. There was a bug with the sprite for the last music sheet, however; it appeared to be a disc instead of a sheet. Also added the source code so that other people can create expansions.
v0.5: Rewrote the mod to use Minecraft Forge after looking into iChun's PortalGun mod to see how he made records; also created this MCF thread
Planned Updates
Sprite Update! I spent hours making the current spritesheet; however, it's only about halfway done. It's all complete for the current mod, and then some; but I want to be able to add expansions without updating the base mod.
Aluminated integration! Currently I am maintaining two mods. I plan on trying to integrate the two into one cohesive mod, which will probably be renamed "Minestro". I will attempt to make better versions of note blocks and jukeboxes, and also some sort of radio system. Nothing is guaranteed as it's all going to be quite complex.

This mod, excepting some of the songs included, is the property of Key Bored Industries and Qwertygiy. It may be downloaded, installed, and/or decompiled without extra permissions. Redistribution of any part of this mod, source code of this mod, or modified versions of this mod requires written permission from Qwertygiy to do so. You may PM me here at MinecraftForum.net or email me at [email protected]; however, I do not check my email regularly. Texture packs and content packs [albums], requiring the mod to be installed but not consisting of actual material included the mod, can be uploaded and shared however you wish, although I would like to know about them so I can see if they're good enough to share in this post.
couldn't you make it less expensive, so instead of using obsidian maybe coal? or ink sacks?
I didn't want to make them too easy to obtain; after all, in Vanilla they are some of the hardest items you can get without going to another dimension. Besides, once you get a diamond pickaxe, you can make and get almost unlimited obsidian. 2 obsidian blocks = 4 discs. It's not very cheap, but it's not end-game content.
And let's face it -- records are definitely not made out of coal or ink sacs, and to get "plastic" would require a whole nother tech tree. Obsidian is the closest realistically to actual records.
Second!! :biggrin.gif: oh and I imagine this mod is going to get very popular. The next step? Making an API where you can make your own songs! That would be AWESOME! Oh and yes, kinda expensive, but originally you have to get a to kill a but that's not very easy anyways. And when that happens, you usually don't get the song you want. And I also like that you can make some songs already added. Nice job!
EDIT: Oops, I took so long typing this I wasn't second anymore :sad.gif:

I forgot to mention that there IS a custom disc. I'll add it into the post later, but putting a song entitled "CustomSong." [wav or ogg] into "/resources/mod/streaming" will allow you to use the custom-disc-whose-recipe-I-forget-at-the-moment.
However, there is already an API of sorts in there. I'll put up details on how to add your own music discs once I make the first expansion pack.
Everytime i download it winrar says the archive is damaged. help?
7Zip and good-ol' Windows can open it just fine. Technically, you shouldn't need any specialized program to install it -- just open up the ZIP, navigate inside "In .minecraft folder", open up your .minecraft folder in a seperate window, and drag "mods" and "resources" into .minecraft.

Added link to the source code, so you can make your own expansions to More Music Discs! A better tutorial text file will be included with the source soon; for now, set up MCP for Forge,
then copy the source files into the folder containing the rest of the Minecraft source code. records.png is there so you can find an icon for your discs, and Example Expansion shows you how you should set up your expansions.

I have added the first expansion! C418's Background Music is approximately 23 megabytes -- larger than the main mod itself! -- and consists of all of Minecraft's background music, except nuance1 (Key) and nuance2 (Oxygene) (which are too short and quiet to be records, in my opinion). The music sheets for this expansion can be crafted by combining Rose Red Dye, Paper, and any two wooden tools. For example, calm1 (Minecraft) can be crafted with Paper, Rose Red, a Wooden Shovel, and a Wooden Pickaxe.

We have our first Mod Spotlight! Granted, he mistitled the video, accidentally tried to use a wrong block to craft a disc, and the game somehow crashed at the end, but other than that it's pretty good. A note on that crash: I have not been able to reproduce that bug. I'm using not only AudioMod, ModLoader, and Forge, but a whole load of other mods too -- RedPower, BuildCraft, IndustrialCraft, HarvestCraft, RailCraft, ComputerCraft, EquivalentExchange, and Twilight Forest. It runs perfectly for me, as evidenced by my really short demo video.

Wow. For a 2-year+ Lua programmer I sure know very little about ComputerCraft...
ANYWAY, I'm adding v0.6 to the main post now. Basically, nothing important changed here except more sprites were added to the sheet, and the sprite for the In The End -- Electronic Remiques disc was changed to one of these. It's made with an Ender Pearl after all, it should be blue, not red! The wrong sprite with C418's Background Expansion has also been fixed.

All official KBI albums can be found here. If you have created an album, PM me to get it added here!
No known errors for v1.2; please report any you find!
In v1.0 on forward, MMD takes advantage of the Forge Ore Dictionary to provide alternate recipes for the blank disc! Instead of iron, you can use other metals from Forge mods such as RedPower or IndustrialCraft or Orizon. Here's what you can use:

==END OF ALPHA==
v0.8: Updated to Minecraft 1.2.4 and added MUCH more configuration for the custom disc.

I'd put up an alternate download on Mediafire but Mediafire hates it and gets stuck on "Verifying"; that's why I switched to my website anyway.

then copy the source files into the folder containing the rest of the Minecraft source code. records.png is there so you can find an icon for your discs, and Example Expansion shows you how you should set up your expansions.

It will, computercraft disk drives plays portalgun disc, it works with any music disc :smile.gif:
ANYWAY, I'm adding v0.6 to the main post now. Basically, nothing important changed here except more sprites were added to the sheet, and the sprite for the In The End -- Electronic Remiques disc was changed to one of these. It's made with an Ender Pearl after all, it should be blue, not red! The wrong sprite with C418's Background Expansion has also been fixed.
