heh, DatWorldGen, please can you give your opinion on my post I made a couple pages back?
Hey! I got a new project for you if you don't mind! XD Could you enable an option to take tall grass away from 1.7.3 and earlier worlds? It could feel even more like beta 1.2-1.4 or 1.5 (which had the best worlds in my opinion) if you really don't want to do this you don't have to by any means. And it would be possible to make it so seeds can be obtained from tilling grass like it used to, right?
Oh, and an edit on top of that The old light gen would be basically impossible to add, correct? I think that was a big part of what made minecraft feel the old way it just "was" when it was in the previous versions. But the light gen is probably lost and will not be able to be restored again. So, if you really dont want to implement these, PLEASE do not go through the trouble doing so. It just kinda irks me about getting the old worlds, but having the current light, or for the 1.7 getting the tall grass (which I really did not like about the 1.7 update)

Sure, I could probably add a tall grass option.
You can get seeds by tilling grass if you play on the alpha or indev generators. Did you mean you want that ability in 1.7.3 as well?

Square instead of smooth lighting? This can be achieved by turning off smooth lighting in the game options.
I see. In that case I don't think there's much I can do about it, since it would require editing RenderGlobal.java.
It's a shame light_normal.png isn't used.
Nope.
EntityRenderer, WorldProvider(Surface) and World, if just tweak current light system, like in ClassicLight.
Restoring old one will require editing almost all Render* classes.
light_normal.png allows to make light white (MCPatcher allows to use it), but it will not remove smooth day/night transition and blocklight flickering.
is there a incompatibility with forge? it wokred fine, but when i installed a mod that needed forge, it didn't work. the game ran fine, but if i created a alpha or indev world, it would generate like normal
EDIT: nevermind, found hte problem. they both modify the ms.class file. but if you download forge first, THEN generator ports, it works just fine
Would it be possible to add an option stopping Alpha worlds from overriding tree and grass textures for the old bright green ones? It looks really odd how they override the texture pack i'm using.
That was added in the latest update. You can turn it off in GeneratorPorts.cfg which you will find in the config folder. Just set both options to off.
I downloaded it I did everything it said to do and it wouldnt work for me at all! Help
I need some more information:
Which version of minecraft are you using?
What other mods do you have installed?
What's the problem like? Is it a crash, black screen or something else?
Do you get an error message?
I installed this mod and i generated an alpha world. I then placed it in my server world and started it up, but soon after i encountered a jungle. Is this suppose to happen? Or did the server generate 1.2 biomes?

Alpha chunks will only be generated when the mod is installed. If any chunks are generated without the mod then those will be 1.2 chunks. There is no server version of the mod so anything generated by the server will be normal 1.2 terrain.
the mod looks pretty cool. but before I download this, will it 1. Overwrite currently existing worlds?
No.
The only exception is if you force the mod to load a world as a specific world type. This is done by adding a text file with a specific code in the save folder for the world. More info is in "readme for old worlds.txt". It won't just happen out of nowhere, if you're worried about that.
2. Will every new world generate like that or can I choose it in World Options>World Type?
You choose it in World Options>World Type. The built-in world types, default and superflat, are not affected by the mod.
3. Does it feature all world types from Indev (Hellworld, Woods, Paradise, Deep, Floating,...)?

I knew there wasnt snow, but I never saw taiga, sorry
pd: I actualy liked more 1.8 than 1.7 (I started in 1.6) because there was not snow, and better hills (for me).

I will have to see what the API is like first.

Yes.
If you choose default or superflat you'll get normal 1.2.5 terrain. The mod isn't active when those are selected.
