Well, obviously, I do. Now, I had horrible problems with broken forge builds so I only got it verified working with the bukkit builds but there it works very well. Did you download server 2.1a or server 2.2? There was a very important fix because server 2.1 was broken when there were other mods using the ore dictionary. I suggest getting server 2.2.
Glad to hear bukkit works well! I've not tried a bukkit server yet. For versions. I've tried both. Just tried 2.2 and still have the same result.
Here again on single player, I show the new item upgrader; so it's installed correct there. Even though modloader (with a clean build) still titles it "loading ironchests 2.1"
here's a clip from my modloader.txt after putting in 2.2

sadly though.....still doesn't work. trying to "give" 181 (iron chest) says no item with that ID.
Now I do notice that in SSP I have 2 config files, but in SMP there are none for ironchests. Was it supposed to make a config for server?
I'm curious since the backpack mod is similar and their smp; they have you put files into .jar instead of a zip. Would that help or is there a way to do this?
I'm not sure what else I can offer for information. I'd hoped to get it working in SMP, since it's a bit more needed there. But I do like having diamond chests in SSP and the colors help to discern

Hi, so the version number thing is a fubar by me. I'll have to watch my version numbering a bit more closely. But the reality is, it's working fine in SMP too. I just created a brand new vanilla server, and it came right up.
I used MC forge 1.3.2.29 (page 208 of the forge thread for a link).
There is a config file generated- it's path is config/IronChest.cfg
Note that the path is relative to where you start the server (as is everything else).
But it sounds to me like there is something wrong with your server setup, and I have no idea what it could be. It works fine for me.

Ty for checking on your vanilla and letting me know of a new forge. I know 1.3.2 was pretty well broken for everything.
I'll see if RP2 will get along with the new forge (running 1.3.0 now). 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 were showing version mismatch.
I'll report back if I can get the new forge in and try chests. Also I have another PC I'll try doing only chests mod and see what that turns up.
Finally, ya I thought there should be a .cfg file. I do not have that currently in SMP.
Well I got the new forge version you mentioned, and the mod is working now! Yay!
It also fixed an RP solar panel bug and allowed installation of IC2 SMP, finally.
Tyvm for letting me know of that patch! I'm so happy to have these chests now in SMP also.
An interesting problem has occured, I am seeking opinions.
I just implemented Equivalent Exchange support into the mod: basically, the ability to convert all chests into EMC so that they can be turned into other things, like alchemical chests. This has presented me with an interesting issue: it appears that these items are seriously out of whack with Equivalent Exchange: a diamond chest is worth almost 4 alchemical chests in raw EMC value. Which is a bit whacky. Partly I think this is the very high overvaluing of Gold relative to Iron, and Iron relative to Stone. I think I'm keeping it in, because it's useful, but it skews the appearance of the mod a bit. I know a lot of people have this mod for SMP and they won't care less, but I would welcome others' thoughts on what I should do:
1. Keep it pure, even if it looks a bit whacky. (My preference- I can strip a diamond chest for every part using a transmutation table then).
1. artificially reduce the EMC value of diamond (and gold) chests relative to the absolute value (you can't strip them for parts in the transmutation table then, but maybe they match EE better- 1 alch chest for a diamond chest for example).
2. don't support EMC. Use a recipe to convert between Alchemical Chests and Diamond chests.
3. some hybrid approach/another suggestion?
1. Keep it pure, even if it looks a bit whacky.
2. don't support EMC. Use a recipe to convert between Alchemical Chests and Diamond chests.
I'm inclined to lean one of these ways.
Then again, a diamond chest truly does require far more in the way of material than an alchemical chest! And it has more space - so if someone is wishing to transmute to alchemical chests, they are doing it for reasons other than space.
The "proper" way is to give the items the exact EMC value of the materials used to create them - after all, the point of the mod is the concept of "equivalency". I wouldn't recommend altering the EMC value itself. If you don't want someone to get 3-4 alchemical chests by transmuting a diamond chest, then you're better off making a separate recipe.
For instance, take the standard alchemical chest recipe, but if you replace the wooden chest in the center with a diamond one, it yields 2 (or perhaps 3) chests. This way, people can convert their chests, which is the idea of the change - but they can't just tear them down for parts.
Kinda with Hunter here, diamond chests cost a minimum of 8 iron bars, which = 1 gold bar, 8 MORE gold bars, which = 2 diamonds, then 4 more diamonds, so yeah....6 diamonds 1 gold = 51.2k EMC, not counting the chest of course, or any of the copper if you went that path. An Alch Chest only costs 1 diamond, 2 iron and 1/40th of a diamond....which is about 8909 EMC.

how can i fix this problem? thx
OK, this mod is not directly compatible with IronChests1.0 chests deployed into the world. If you have the chest, as a block where you can access inventory, then you cannot upgrade your world to IronChests 2.0, directly.
You have to take an additional couple of steps:
1. break the existing iron chests, so that they're now items instead of blocks.
2. upgrade your world.
3. collect and replace your iron chests.
The items are compatible, the blocks are not, you see. The problem was to make blocks compatible required a lot of fragile code that didn't work very well in a lot of cases so I decided to go for this compromise- it's only once you have to do it, after all.
Not sure why and maybe i'm the only one having this problem but any recipe involving diamonds is not working for me. mp or sp ... could another mod override the id's for just the diamond chest?

New version now available: IronChest 2.3 supports EquivalentExchange, also a new chest upgrader Copper to Iron, finally many thanks to PieceMaker from the IC2 forums for the excellent new Item sprites...

I don't understand? You can't fabricate Diamond chests? You can't make other stuff using diamonds with my mod installed?
Both of these sound very odd- diamond chests are definitely craftable.
The recipe for diamond chests is slightly different than the others: I didn't want them to cost 8 diamonds, so they only cost 2: one either side of the gold chest. The rest is glass.
Also, cpw, whilst doing them for some reason the items_textures.png will only be read directly from the mod archive and not from the actual texture pack. Whereas all the chest textures pull quite happily from the texture pack.
Is this something in the coding or a weird Optifine issue?

P.S. Keep up the good work :smile.gif:
Thanks for the bug report. It's fixed now. Uploading a new version of the client (it's client side only) to fix that. Turns out you need a leading / (slash) for texture pack path support. The blocks work because they use a custom renderer.

We could not make a diamond chest. We looked through all of the documentation, I thought, very carefully. Can you point out to me where I missed the Diamond chest being a different recipe from the rest? Other than this post, of course.

You can see it's loading 2.2 but (I assume) the class file still refers it as 2.1.

sadly though.....still doesn't work. trying to "give" 181 (iron chest) says no item with that ID.
Thanks
PB
Thx
PB
Well I got the new forge version you mentioned, and the mod is working now! Yay!
It also fixed an RP solar panel bug and allowed installation of IC2 SMP, finally.
Tyvm for letting me know of that patch! I'm so happy to have these chests now in SMP also.
Thx
PB
Awesome! Note that next to the current 4 upgrader items there will be a fifth: upgrade copper to iron. Just need to get round to releasing it...
Thoughts? I welcome them please.
This way, people can convert their chests, which is the idea of the change - but they can't just tear them down for parts.
old world server:
Server #1597 - MC 1.0.1
using ironchests v0.96
I am try to copy my "old world" to MC1.1 Server and run it with "Ironchestsc2.2",
but when the world has already put some "old version ironchest"(iron,golden..etc)inside ,server was fail,
and the error message below.
(p.s if I remove the old version ironchest in the world ,it work fine)
error log
how can i fix this problem?
Thanks for your solution
I don't understand? You can't fabricate Diamond chests? You can't make other stuff using diamonds with my mod installed?
Both of these sound very odd- diamond chests are definitely craftable.
The recipe for diamond chests is slightly different than the others: I didn't want them to cost 8 diamonds, so they only cost 2: one either side of the gold chest. The rest is glass.
Oops, I should have checked here first if you were doing stuff for it.
Erm, for those interested I did a Sphax version here:
http://www.eclipse-project.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=386
Also, cpw, whilst doing them for some reason the items_textures.png will only be read directly from the mod archive and not from the actual texture pack. Whereas all the chest textures pull quite happily from the texture pack.
Is this something in the coding or a weird Optifine issue?
P.S. Keep up the good work :smile.gif:

Fine by me (and tbh I didnt even start it yet lol) but one less modpack to maintain is fine by me. :tongue.gif:
Thanks for the bug report. It's fixed now. Uploading a new version of the client (it's client side only) to fix that. Turns out you need a leading / (slash) for texture pack path support. The blocks work because they use a custom renderer.
We could not make a diamond chest. We looked through all of the documentation, I thought, very carefully. Can you point out to me where I missed the Diamond chest being a different recipe from the rest? Other than this post, of course.
