Still having this issue, installed the dust mod into the mods folder as per the usual mod-loader mod installations. Not sure if its a compatibility issue or what.

me to it worked for a while after i reset my jar but now its just broken i can not make a void i guess we just wait tell the next update and hope he fixes it
Have you tried other designs like bomb or teleportal the void is the only problem i have.

His problem is that it crashes. When using any dust/rune. You have a different problem, I think. Though I can't really help with this =P
This is probably the most intriguing magic mod I've seen so far. It's actually pretty well balanced compared to most, where they kind of just give you free, though usually cool, stuff. It works pretty well with better then/than wolves/buildcraft as well. I had to change the block ids, but despite common belief BTW only uses around 45 block ids. Unfortunately I can't play this alongside the your golems mod as I run out of terrain.png when I try.
Anyways I've found small bug/coding issue found. The teleport rune seems to have gotten it's range by saving the location of portal. However, it seems that it doesn't currently have a way to differentiate between portals in the overworld and the nether, or even other worlds you have running. So it tries to teleport you to them, and you often end up in the middle of nowhere and underground.
Now for ideas
-Vortex rune: Pulls in drops with a range dependent on the dust used
-Conversion rune: Made with 4 variable dust in the center and 8 gunpowder dust surrounding it. Changes the block it's on to grass/water/magma
-Mine track rune:makes mine tracks with the length dependent on dust used. 4 gunpowder dust on each side, 2 plant dust as rails, and 2 variable.
Also, what's a good way to get images on this site? I've got a few pictures, though I have no clue what the larger arrays would do.

However, that being said I have tried (for troubleshooting purposes) to install this mod directly into the JAR Via MCPatcher and according to the logs there have been no conflicts/overwrites with any of the currently installed mods that I do have. This leads me to believe that there probably aren't any direct conflicts with any of the mods that I am currently using (although wth do I know, lol).
Again to re-iterate the issue, I can make the dust, I can make the book that you use to activate the dust. I can even go so far as to place dust on the ground although there is no texture to it its just invisible on top of the block - I can even break it after I have placed it down. I cannot place it in any sort of a pattern (because its invisible) and from what I can tell when I break it it looks as if it were the same animation/texture as regular redstone dust breaking although still there is no texture it just looks like a shadow with only black/white color. When I try to activate the tile with the invisible dust using the book, the game crashes with the original error I supplied.

I to use most of the mods you are using and i have the same problem but i just deleted my whole jar and its still there so it has to be the dust mod its self.
how i installed the First time

i opened mcpatcher (i am on my school laptop so i have limited privileges i can not manually install any mod.)
i put modloader on then dust mod
patched and test
i get an error when i use my book on the void image
how i installed the Second time
deleted the minecraft folder
opened fresh jar with mc patcher
put modloader on
patched, tested,exited
opened minecraft folder
opened mods folder placed dust mod in
same thng happened what am i doing wrong
ps it worked for awhile after i installed the older version for now i am using that

Sometimes when I place dust on a block from a distance the block lights up as if it were there (all dusts give off a low light level, ~2) but nothing appears. I have to get closer to place it down. It is unlikely that that's your problem, but, food for thought.

I appreciate the feedback, unfortunately it doesn't seem to matter how close/far i am to the rune.. I've tried laying them down and going to a completely different chunk area and still nothing changes. I'll keep plugging away at it, in the meantime if you think of anything else please let me know! There's already a fire sprite rune, which is like a helpful navi, but if you added those sound effects, my eardrums would hurt. Also, the new OoT is the same, they just added more glitches. :tongue.gif:
I really like the mod, however some of the runes aren't working for me. For example day/night runes, spirit tool runes and obelisk runes are only a couple. I am sure I am building them right.
Also the dust doesn't seem to connect across blocks, I don't know whether that is affecting it?
As well as this, I had to change some IDs of the dust mod, as it was clashing with my other mods.
I'd really appreciate some help, and If I get this working it is more than likely that I will do a review video :biggrin.gif:

that would be cool cuz you could set up a cage rune in someones house while their collecting wood or something (not mining) and then when they come in they get trapped then you steal then run to your secret base. *goes to server owner and sayys "hey i found this cool mod to add to it wana try it once its multiplayer?"* hehe i cant wait till i get to make sure noone gets anywhere near my diamonds
