FOR EVERYONE GETTING CRASHES WITH Sonic Ether's shaders AND ExtraBiomesXL!!!
I've been forced to play with tiny view distance and trees on fast to experience the beautiful combination of these two mods without crashing with "Already tessellating" or "BufferOverflow". And even with those terribly restrictive settings, I still crash periodically. Like a handful of you with the same issue, I have been struggling with every combination, every setting, and every version of every mod.. for longer than I want to admit. So frustrated that so many members with weaker PCs are able to run the combo without crashing, a handful with stronger PCs are getting the same crash, and no one seems to have any answers.
So I gave up on shooting in the dark, spent the entire day mucking around in code and asking questions on IRC, and I FINALLY came up with a dirty hack that STOPS THE CRASH. After a month of frustration, I have been playing for a few hours now, on far view distance, all details on fancy, with a 128x128 texture pack, waving everything, DOF, Sonic Ether's beautiful water shading and dynamic shadows, and walking through lush redwoods and rainforest, with no crashing at all. There are a few rendering glitches when there are an excessive amount of redwood trees in the scene, but hey, It's a lot better than the alternatives.
I won't be publicly distributing this since its a dirty work in progress, and I don't know anything about the Minecraft modding rules yet.
PM me or catch me as volDeus on any major IM for the fix. I hope this puts as big a smile on your faces as it has on mine.
A thousand thanks to Sonic Ether, Daxnitro, ScottKillen, MisterFiber, and the guys at #minecraftforge on esper that helped me dive through this today.
I'm running an ASUS G75C GR series
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660M . 2GB (Up to Date)
Installed Everything just as the Mod requested
The shader works beautifully, however after about 2-3minutes of play, minecraft freezes and presents me with a black screen. It doesn't seem to matter what version of the shader I use (ULTRA-DEFAULT-LITE) they all result in the same disaster. If someone would be willing to work with me I could provide me email and any debug report that is requested. The mod looks beautiful and I really want it to work.

HUGE thanks to the above for helping me out; No crashes at maximum settings! Proof is in the pudding...
Little project I made, in sunset with mod. TXT pack was 256X btw.
Is GTX 550Ti 1GB good enough for this mod? I'm building a computer for my brother and he wants this mod. I don't want to spend too much money.
The GTX 550Ti is about half as good as an AMD 6970HD, and the AMD 6970HD plays this mod at 60fps solid, so any worse than that and you could see poorer results.
Also, Nvidia cards aren't fully working with this mod, the developer created it on an AMD card so if you want the best working version then you'll have to go AMD until all the issues are sorted out with Nvidia cards
can you please somehow find a way to fix this blue void, nothing is unsolvable!
I'm afraid the fix is buy a graphics cards, the blue void happens with integrated graphics chips on Intel, and to put it bluntly, those are really, really bad. They have a hard time showing 1080p videos, this mod requires a lot of graphical power.
Sorry, the fix is spend £80 on a graphics card

Why "dirty work in progress"?, and, "you aren't sure about the modding rules". Why not just post your fix? It won't be "illegal' if you don't distribute private property. The only thing I can think of right off the bat is that you can't distribute minecraft.jar, and other mods without the author consent.

Simple. It's "dirty code" or a "hack", because I haven't found the bug, just worked around it temporarily. It's a wip because I intend to dig deeper and correctly it appropriately. Daxnitro posted that redistributing modified .class files is against the Minecraft license agreement. Although most all mod authors do it anyway, the correct way to distribute is through a patcher. Even if he was mistaken, the class file I modified contains changes from three other popular mods. I won't even be bothering the authors of those mods for permission until I have the bug nailed down. I had a very difficult time even coming up with the workaround and have no idea how long it will take me to get closer to a real solution. The only reason I posted right away was because I was very excited to be able to play with the mods combined and wanted to share with others.
This has been my first foray into Minecraft code and I don't think I'd like to start off and make any mistake or offend anyone.

Are you some sort of programmer type of modder? Btw, is this fix solely for ExtraBiomesXL or could this fix be applied to other resource intensive mods? I'm asking this because I get the same out of memory bull with a mod call Trees+.

All mod authors are "some sort of programmer" Although I wouldn't call what I've done a mod. More of a bug-fix, and at the moment, a hack.
I would think it would help you as well, I personally experienced a few crashes around clusters of Redpower 2 rubber trees as well as the ExtraBiomesXL trees. The large number of leaf blocks, and the way leaves are rendered, is what causes the crash.

That's great. I really want to use the shaders with Trees+. This mod is a bit similar to ExtraBiomesXL but, even though it also has new biomes, it concentrates more specifically on different types of trees which are more creative than in ExtraBiomesXL.
Ok so here's my issue; I have tried the newest version of this and the v10 pre-release and I have the exact same issue with both. No matter what settings I change (in-game or in the jar files) I CANNOT make a difference in fps. The only way to get it to run smoothly is to have the small default window that minecraft starts in. If I go fullscreen, no matter what I change I cant get more than 25 fps. My computer isn't a monster but I can run most modern games just fine at max settings.
Is this mod THAT demanding or is there somehting I can do? Thanks in advance.
Also; is anyone else having redish spiders and endermen with v10?

You can disable SSAO for a small performance increase, search the thread, someone mentioned how to disable it a few pages back. It really is very demanding though. If you can bear it, play true fullscreen (hit F11) with a lower resolution that still matches your display's aspect ratio. That gives a big FPS increase but obviously at a cost of contrast with a lower resolution screen mode.
And I think quite a few people are getting the red spiders. I've seen them a couple times when not in daylight.

Wow, can't wait.
Sonic doesn't make the mod, he just write the shaders.

Feel free to post it wherever you want. I plan on doing a much higher quality review when the next version for nVidia cards is released.
