Hi Sushen
I try your mod today, i realy like the overall idea, you did a great job
But i'm not sure how to use your mod with what i want to achieve :
Timelapse video of a construction building.
I don't understand how to use the cam third person and record my self construct the building, i've activeted all option but i always end up with my own view.
How to set a camera for the thrid person, or, am i thinking wrong and this feature is only to our self like when you press F5 ?
Here some suggestion :
- No show fps by default - Being able to record by frame (jpg 100%compress, no need for png since there no alpha)
- May be Change the feature Video speed by something like being able to record 1 every 10 (or what ever with a slider), for me it's more innate, you clearly what you want to do.
- Also can you explain how to use third person, where is the command to get the cam for 'cameraman', i searched on your topic but i didn't find anything. (i know you didn't change the log, but if we could get a very small sneak peek of what are the command/process.)
Voilà, merci.
Thanks for the suggestions.
Why do you want a jpg frame recording ?
If by that, you mean write a jpg file for every frame, I'll never do this (it's performance killing).
I'll have a look at other codecs in the future..
Video speed slider is exactly what you say : 10x speed means 10 seconds in game equal 1 second in video.
So if you have set a video at 30fps, this means you're going to grab 3 frames per second in game.
(this means also your overall perfomances will be good)
Ok now the most interesting part :
Third person recording works along /cam features...
This means you have to register some points, then use '/cam start' with a timing, and voila.
Oh and also another suggestion :
Can you avoid to make a text message in the general chat, i mean, every time i load a map i'm getting flooded by message, it's a bad habit from develloper. i know it's a good way to know if you installed the mod, but when you start to use a command you know you have installed correctly. Also, you could put those information (version and blabla) inside of the 'o' gui interface (wich is simple and for that, awesome)
And and i agree for windows 8, for me this version is big fail.
Happens only when you start the game (first load map).
No, I'm not going to change that, sorry.
(you'll be glad to see the key you must press to access the options if you don't use it for a long time)
Have you seen any software supporting windows 8 so far ?
No sensed developer would do a patch for an OS that is not even officially released.
Also, new graphics technology => new bugs from Microsoft developers = wait a month or two for WindowsUpdate patchs.
Also, maybe your bug has nothing to do with w8 : wait for new CameraStudio release, it will enhance its recorder error logging capabilities. (because now, I'm like blind for any error that doesn't occur on my machine).
Finally, if you want to dig into code, good luck.
But I remind you that you're not authorized to modify its content...
I have seen quite a lot of programs being supported for Windows 8 as my self I am a developer and I am upgrading all my current software to Windows 8 (.Net Framework 4 - 4.5/5) and It is hard work as C++/C# ect.. Is quite a code to understand. And my Java skills are excellent as I create my own Java Apps. Also to add on its your mod which has the issue as Windows 8 runs on a different Framework the current "App" or ".dll" file that the mod uses to record does not work in the same way as the code has to "call" for the correct files and that Windows 7 does not use this new type of "Code Calling" so don't tell me to wait as I have been running Windows 8 for just under a year now for testing and developing apps for my users so the can experience no issues on the wide range of OS platforms.
I have found the issue with the mod but im not going to change anything as its yours and I will leave it up to you to find the problem so I am going back to only using the "Camera Movements" feature and I will continue to use "Fraps" as my recording device. To add on don't worry Im not going to "Release" or "Modify" your code as I hate it when people edit my codes So don't worry about that. I hope that you will be able to support Windows 8 at a later date, and good luck on when you hunt for the code..
My next question will be, how do you create only 1 cam. To use the third cam i need to create 2 positions, of course my trick is just not touch my mouse and do /cam 1 then /cam 2.
The reason for the jpg is mostly to avoid any codec from video because it can create problem with editing software sometime, plus, you have more control on the flow of the frame rate and other stuff. For me it's a professional way to record, and probably a habit i have when i do my 3d render (kinda usefull when it crash and just restart to the last frame ).
I didn't know it was a performance killing, i wish you could integrate the Minema mod.
for the speed, well, i intiatly didn't know it was recording at 30fps, so i guess now my suggestion is no more needed indeed.
Well, remember when i say i would like to have frame instead of 1 movie file, my minecraft crashed =/
So i lost the timelapses i was making (no big deal)
But if it was frame i wouldn't care about this crash, and since i'm at 30x, i don' think it's a performance killing (HOPE NOT !!! lol)

Marvelous mod. Recording with this is, mostly, vastly superior to recording with any program, free or paid, that I have tried, resulting in at least 3x the FPS.The only problem I get is that the image gets "staticy". However, I think that is my computer, because Bandicam occasionally had the same result, albeit less often. I commend you on writing such a wonederful mod, especially via modloader. It is compatible with my plethora of other mods, 14 other modloader mods, 1 liteloader mod, and 11 jar mods (ok, so 9 of the modloaders are essentially one mod and seven of the jar mods are MCPatcher, but that is BESIDES the point ).
Just so ya know, My specs are:

Hello there, this mod is awesome, but i don't know how to record with the comand "/rec", it says that is unknown command, and how to record with the camera third person.
Sorry for my English
Thanks from Spain
I updated the first post. Look at the RECORDER FAQ

Your bug must come from a chunk being unloaded while you pasted data.
The weird thing you noticed is a side effect for using the third person entity. Minecraft internals tries to update it's chunks according to both player and entity, but he thinks there is only one entity (the one who's looking). Since I'm doing offline rendering with the 'cameraman', it changes it's chunk according to it's position.
It will be pretty hard to fix this, so I suggest your player stays close to the cameraman (at least, not at the limit or outside the view range!)
Regarding performances, I don't think the hard drive will be able to save 30 different files in a second without lags - hard drive is a performance bottleneck. Every time your hdd saves a new file, there is a time overhead due to writing the file in the master table index, along with head repositioning so.......
Oh, I forgot.
I updated the version with gui cosmetics and more debug for me (well, not for me directly, for you!)
Also added new video file type support : record is now available with mp4, mov, flv, and asf files.

Why do you want a jpg frame recording ?
If by that, you mean write a jpg file for every frame, I'll never do this (it's performance killing).

Video speed slider is exactly what you say : 10x speed means 10 seconds in game equal 1 second in video.
So if you have set a video at 30fps, this means you're going to grab 3 frames per second in game.
(this means also your overall perfomances will be good)
