I use Mo'Creatures. My villages are usually surrounded by walls to protect them, and I personally tend to take good care of and protect my villagers. Then again I also play in hardcore mode so dying means losing everything, so between defending my family, villagers, and doing my best to keep the village a safe place to rest (and not taking chances I don't need to) I always have some sort of defenses up.
If it 's too much of a massacre for you to get defenses up for, have you considered NOT using those mods? I personally have yet to have any problem losing villages unless I royally screw up. MC's villagers are the equivalent to mideival peasants. It was rare for them to fight back, but rather flee in terror. Guards seem to do a good job though
You can also increase their health and dmg (for both guards and normal villagers) if you go to Minecraft's main menu > mods > scroll down to MCA on the left and select it > config.
But the challenges, man! and dem bosses! :v Those mods add 'spice' to my world. Nonetheless, I will build walls next time. Obsidian this time!

This is by far my favorite Minecraft mod ever. One issue I have noticed, however, is the inability to use the Special category while interacting with villagers. I'm using the latest versions of both MCA (v5.0.6.1 for 1.7.10) and RadixCore. (v2.0.2 for 1.7.10). The picture below shows that there are no options when choosing Special.

Yes. I have. and named an heir. I play 1.8 now though, because of the improvements to enchanting, and the fact lapis is worth something. I am aware that if you have kids in hardcore you could in .1.7 continue as your child. Personally I didn't bother. I just enjoy the challenge. if I die the world is gone for me, that's alright. It forces me to play smarter and more cautiously.
Speaking of which. Still having issues with guards going inside and staying inside, and not patrolling like they did in 1.7

Feature: Guard spawning is less intrusive and is more natural. No more guards in caves, in your home, etc.
Changed: Tweaked height and girth factors. Villagers will be less oddly shaped.
Fix: Issues assigning home points, sleeping in beds, suffocation while sleeping, etc. have all been resolved.
Fix: An ignorable yet annoying error message has been removed.
Fix: Male childrens' ages were not appearing correctly.
Fix: Archers will no longer continually shoot at a creature that is no longer present (such as Endermen who teleport away.)
Fix: Overridden villagers did not have the max health you define in your configuration.
Fix: Textures for the tombstone, villager editor, and whistle were missing.

Odd. Must be a conflict with one of the others, then, because it didn't happen until I added MCA. I guess I'll try to find my mod list and see if I can post it here, and see if I have any mods installed that are known incompatibilities...

I love this mod and all, but its a little laggy, and needs some more realistic features. Here are my suggestions;
When you reach 5 Red hearts, you can now date an NPC. This is required to Marry an NPC.
More colors of Villager beds and (With permission from mod creator) Decocraft 2 models. There are still the original models, but there are now 2 bed types if mod creator agrees.
Lag fix
Baby carages <--- Spelled wrong I know.
Baby models. Right click on ground to set down. Baby's can only move 5 blocks from there spawn point. Baby carage is spawn point or where you placed them from Baby boy/girl item. Interact to pick up and set down. Right click carage to put in. Right click again to take out.
When NPC's die from a Zombie, they turn into Zombies with that Villager Skin. (Except green.) This one might be hard, but I'll be happy to help with the Skinning of this.
NPC's who have weapons in there inventory now fight off mobs (This one might already be in )
That's all! You don't have to use these, there just suggestions!

I applaud your hard work especially when I saw the option to start with a family in the recent 1.7.10 version.
I was thinking maybe there could be an option to start as a child and grow older? Maybe eventually leading to death by old age?

I tried using three different versions of Forge and none of them fixed it. It might just be a bug. I'm just glad it's not too big of a problem.

These logs don't seem to be pointing to MCA as being the problem here.
Odd. Must be a conflict with one of the others, then, because it didn't happen until I added MCA. I guess I'll try to find my mod list and see if I can post it here, and see if I have any mods installed that are known incompatibilities...

I love this mod and all, but its a little laggy, and needs some more realistic features. Here are my suggestions;
When you reach 5 Red hearts, you can now date an NPC. This is required to Marry an NPC.
More colors of Villager beds and (With permission from mod creator) Decocraft 2 models. There are still the original models, but there are now 2 bed types if mod creator agrees.
Lag fix
Baby carages <--- Spelled wrong I know.
Baby models. Right click on ground to set down. Baby's can only move 5 blocks from there spawn point. Baby carage is spawn point or where you placed them from Baby boy/girl item. Interact to pick up and set down. Right click carage to put in. Right click again to take out.
When NPC's die from a Zombie, they turn into Zombies with that Villager Skin. (Except green.) This one might be hard, but I'll be happy to help with the Skinning of this.
NPC's who have weapons in there inventory now fight off mobs (This one might already be in )
That's all! You don't have to use these, there just suggestions!
Managed to get it working, somehow. It wasn't linking to forge and I did...something that made it.
