Hey! I'm not the fastest coder, but slow and steady wins the race, and I managed to succeed in returning the Skylands to Minecraft! But, I took it one step further, and did what they said they were going too. Your bed is now a doorway into the heavens..
Currently, v0.3 is NON-MODLOADER. And to be honest, even if it was it wouldn't be compatible with any terrain mods. But I have no reason to see why this would interfere with other Modloader mods as long as they don't deal with large scale terrain generation. Just compare classes in the zip with your current mods to look for a conflict. (I know it's alot of classes but this versions changes too many things to get the Skylands working again.)
I do not take credit for the generation code, alot of it was copied from 1.7.3, tweaked to work with 1.0.0, and plugged into my code so you can actually get there. Skylands version does include v0.2, but they do not currently spawn in the Skylands. (I think..)
Note: Sleeping in a bed will not take you to the Skylands 100% of the time, currently it only takes you 20% of the time.
Hey all, I'm fairly new to the modding community, self-taught java, and just messing around with Minecraft. I figured I would start to make a real mod. Something I don't see alot of are basic terrain mods. The kind that can be added to a server and clients don't have to change a thing. Well, I'm not there yet. But I do have a single player variant ready for feedback! Again, I'm a noob modder, so don't hate. :3 Works for version 1.0.0.
Installation v0.1 (No Modloader):
Download the zip.
Add all files except ariaconfig.ini to a clean minecraft.jar (Will work on compatibility later)
Add ariaconfig to your .minecraft folder. (Here are changeable settings for the mod, such as which features to use, or change the crater size or rarity!)
Make sure you delete your Meta-INF!
Installation v0.2 (Modloader):
Normal Modloader installation. You can get Risugami's Modloader here.
You can choose to remove the acj.class from the zip if you do not want creepers to be able to
spawn in dungeons. Same with the ym.class if you don't want any trees to spawn in
plains biomes like vanilla.
The other classes are for spawning Bomb Trees, and can be removed if
compatibility issues arise. Mod should be 100% compatible with other terrain mods
if you only add the WorldGenCrater/Pyramid/StarterHut and the mod_AriacTerrain
classes.
Config now found in config folder in .minecraft folder.
Initial Release!
Added Craters
Added Starter Huts
Note: Chests can contain random tools, things, even an extremely rare chance on a diamond!
Added Bomb Trees
Added Creepers to Dungeon spawner choices. (Bwahaha)
Thanks for the kind words! I think SMP is going to be my first step, Modloader after that. Not sure how Modloader works yet, especially with terrain. (Since all added terrain is secondary to normal generation from what I've read). And to be honest, the TNT tree is not my idea, I remember seeing it in a Youtube video, but I did think it would be awesome for the world to naturally generate them.
Also, if anyone has any good ideas for other tiny features I can add, I can consider adding them if it's not too hard!
Hey, kinda stuck right now with SMP compatibility. I get everything to work just fine, except for the fact that not all chunks want to cooperate with the new terrain generation. Like a crater will generate, but a side of it will act like the terrain was never changed. (See pics below) Anyone got anything on this? Still works fine on single player.
i really like this! once you can tell me if this is compatible with modloader and so on.. i will totally use this!! your ideas are very creative!and you must have some talent if you taught yourself java. amazing jobb!
can I choose between this? example: I wan't everything except for the creeper in dungeons (I have a mod for that)
It's modloader compatible?
sorry for my English. awesome mod!

My only guess on that would be the chunk generation differences between SSP and SMP. It looks like it's only generating to the side of the chunk that the actual meteorite/asteroid/fallen space object is actually in, and gets cut off if it overlaps into another chunk. I'm not as familiar with SMP, but my guess would be that the world generator handles chunks differently to ensure players in different areas are loading everything correctly. No idea for a fix though...
My only real guess is that because the craters takes up multiple chunks (They can be upwards of 60 blocks in diameter by default), and that the call for when the crater is made is completed before the outer chunks are loaded, so when those chunks are loaded, they aren't affected by the new terrain changes. Is there a way to force Minecraft to check to make sure the surrounding chunks are loaded before spawning the crater?
Craters created by meteors without any actual meteors ever falling and ruining your world and creations!
Now, I'm only wondering how this will react with other terrain altering mods!XD
Also, diamond farming from this will be insane especially when combined with the Equivalent Exchange mod!(lava immunity and Obsidian converted to Diamonds)

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the Modloader version is completely compatible with other modloader mods if you follow the instructions in the modifiedclasses.txt file I have in the zip. You won't be able to spawn bomb trees, but the craters and everything else should still work. As for the standalone version, you may have some compatibility for any mods that use these classes, az.class, fo.class, ym.class, ql.class, acj.class, and xj.class. Again, slight modifications may need to be done using the txt file I included. Hope that helps!
Also, Updated Non-modloader version to v0.2, to include Pyramids! (Still WIP)
ariaconfig.ini no longer included in the zip file. Minecraft will automatically generate it when you play the game for the first time. If not, just make a notepad file called ariaconfig.ini and put this into it.
volcanoes would be cool. One thing i found with this mod was that trees's above a crater would be floating, thus removing the illusion of the impact. Not all that important but I was wondering if its either fixed in the latest version or if there is a way to fix it.
If its not fixed you could just set the crater to generate air blocks (block 0) to remove anything above.
PS: I cant seem to find any tnt trees. maybe that's just me.
The code does generate air above the crater, so I don't know what causes it. Probably an issue when a tree and a crater is generated at the same time, and both form at the same time. I think it happens more often in the modloader version than the standalone version.
Also, TNT trees only appear in forests (Not pines) and mountains. And sometimes can be quite rare. And make sure it's enabled in your config file!

Thanks for bringing that up. Sorry about that. Fixed now, just redownload. You may have to manually delete the existing towers though.
