Cool, new uses for dirt. Maybe you can use 'em to make buckets and such (as people did indeed use the earth to make vessels, although more like clay, but clay in this game is rarer than dirt).
I only really want easy-to-collect building blocks, like the hardened dirt and I REALLY like the Adobe - that's a really cool word!
PS: The dirt cooks quickly, right? The longer it takes to cook, the less likely people are to use this mod since... we're talking about a lot of coal to cook enough dirt to build with it! :tongue.gif:

I think that is part of the author's main intent for the mod, to have the tools. You could just not use it, and use the rest of the mod, why not leave it in so everyone else could have their fun?
Just started using the mod. Your textures are beautiful, and gave Minecraft a MUCH needed expansion. Up till now, all the materials seemed so exclusively geared towards castles, it was losing its draw. This allows for rustic farms, and goes VERY well with the Baby Animals Mod by Cocoavalley. I'm shocked at how little attention this mod has drawn. I have to say, Adobe is a PAIN to make, and probably needs a new recipe, but it's a great mod, with very good prospects once it adds the 1.2 content it has listed. I think you should rename it, though. Honestly, for survival, Cobblestone is just much more reasonable. But this makes for a wonderful quaint farming village. I think you'll draw alot more interested players if you take out the over-used "Survival" from your mod name and apply something more relevant to your content. Honestly, none of your added content is easier to get/use than the default stuff, so it's more of a luxury than a survival thing.

Okay. I've tested this mod out thoroughly. The content you've added I find a perfect fit for Minecraft. It's about time we got some variety added with new blocks. HOWEVER, Thatch and Adobe are HORRIBLY imballanced. Certainly not "survival" in the least. It took me 2 months (in minecraft days) without sleeping to get enough reeds from my farm to do the outline of my roof in thatch, and that was for a SMALL house. The Thatch makes a very very nice cosmetic block, but is more annoying to build with than iron blocks. If I may, I think a better balance would be 8 thatch out of every crafting set, and change the adobe to 4 hardened dirt per 1, instead of 9. With nine, ti takes more than one piece of coal for every one block, which is frankly, ridiculous. It took me 2 nearly full Real life days to make just two structures with the blocks of your mod.
On the completley positive side, those pots are amazing decorative blocks, and go with most every structure I have very well. Might I suggest in the future you implement a chest interface to the jars so you can store cactus juice in them or some other kind of food item?
Edit: As a side note, I did some edits to the textures in this mod, as a kind of re-visited insight into what they are for higher rez (up to 64x) texturepacks. In particular, works VERY well with Ovo's Rustic pack. I'll post screenshots as soon as I get permission from Ovo to distribute them, as one of the 5 textures I spliced in is merely a re-touch of one of his. The rest are either re-touches of the default SurvivalPlus textures, or original works entirely.
I got to agree with the dirt tools = why? I can't think of many times I'm underground with sticks and wouldn't have cobble or planks/logs/iron. If my pick broke, it likely because I was mining cobble.
Harden dirt is nice and the new wood. Hay, theres already a hay mod that adds only the hay block.
Since you've got harden dirt. You could try petrified wood, maybe compost (Maybe dirt + wood chips)

"What the ****"
And now I realize that it's a pretty cool mod. Nice work.
Edit: Oh and the recipes, how could I forget...
It'd be useful for when you first start, and don't have much cobble to waste. I know I've been there a few times.
The tools were made on the following thought:
You get stuck in a cave, only a few sticks and some dirt, maybe some coal and cobble, you can make the tools from those materials and leave said cave.
Though at some point I might change the tools to be between wood and stone.
Edible and drinkable cactus food item, fills one food bar. An actual reason to farm cacti other than walls and dye!
Would you consider removing this feature?

Here's another idea, be able to craft a 2 by 3 of wood and turn it into wooden panels. It acts like glass panels but is a little bit weaker then wood

Could you possibly make a Millenaire version of this mod? either without the thatch in general, or make it craft Item ID I82 : 2
