I have played it recently, and it has change alot, but it does still take alot of resources and time to effectively create stuff...
No, it really doesn't. Once you get a Mark 3 Collector you can make anything from Vanilla MC with ease (thus making TC2 Vis/Taint production too easy). Once you get a 'Collector Array' set up, you get everything else from EE with ease. The only thing that takes time is the Red Matter Gemmed Armor. Even then, it's not that long- Less if you make more Arrays.
While EE and TC2 are both great mods, and are both 'magic' based- they don't work well together. Too many exploits.

Really just depends, EE2 is great for ThaumCraft because ThaumCraft is heavily reliant on Vanilla Item which EE2 can make, but EE2 requires alot of time and resources to even make any of the Items in it...

One of the Highest... Right above Diamond....
EE allows for infinite free Vis/Taint through the fact the mods are not balanced together. (And can't be. Furthermore, EE goes too fast. It's amazingly easy once you get collectors.)
Oh, and I'm totally going to start my Record Farm again. Always got a ton of records on my old world with one.
thoes are cut and paste right from my configs. if you use thoes, they will work (as long as nothing else takes up the space)
now that that is delt with, i would like to ask for help adding items to the tc2 config. i cant seem to get it to work. i have asked a few times before (like 10 pages ago).
EDIT: forgot my reason for posting, i wanted to ask for help with some of the graphics. i am using optifine (i KNOW about the visual glitches but that not what i mean) to improve my fps, but it seems that no matter what i do i cant get past 11. as a possibly related side note, optifine seems to have resolved my out of memory screens, now it just lags me to the point where i axidently walk off cliffs and into lava pools. i THINK the lag has something to do with the conduits. i had a lot of them running all over the place, and by a lot i mean atleast 256 conduits. (i made 4+ stacks and used em up).
(sorry about my spelling, i KNOW i suck at it.....)
EDIT 2: i have an NVIDIA graphics card and it seems that the control panel crashes when i click the X button..... (with the not working popup and everything)

I believe it was already posted by the dev that there is a bug preventing config-added items from working. Azanor has stated it will be fixed.
how are those vis puryfiers working? they should work like a filter, but then just deleting the taint, right?
how can i place them efficiently? because they don't seem to work... (or i'm doing something wrong XD)
thnx
Once you've disabled the crystal's aura regeneration, is there anything left besides concentrated vis that can replenish it? I know silverwood items do, but I was under the impression they required taint to do so. I guess that makes it renewable in a roundabout way using mob drops -> crucibles -> filters, just curious if there's a more straightforward option.
Excuse the stream of consciousness.
The Totem of Dawn replenishes the aura slowly (and will work a bit better in the next version)
I will also eventually add a block that will work like a filter, but that will pump vis into the air instead of taint.
We already have the Arcane Singularity. I don't feel we need much more then that.
What, no Taint Bomb that maxes out taint, and corrupts the entire chunk- Every block? What, no Vis Bomb that maxes out the Aura, and causes a bunch of wisps everywhere?
I like explosives that do more then explode.
(I know of the Concentrated Taint... It doesn't do much.)
I will also eventually add a block that will work like a filter, but that will pump vis into the air instead of taint.
I have better idea... How about filters just separating Vis/Taint?
And a new block to evaporate the flow with some efficiency. Probably destroying a part of it in process, for balance reasons.
If you are aiming to return "lab accidents" (that's really a good gameplay mechanics), evaporators would help preventing overflow in the system, as well as work as Vis/Taint generators, if chosen to.

make a big cube of them and put the crusible on one side and the machines on the other side. you will not notice any taint!
Amazing since I don't touch MC's lightning system.
You are right about this. I wrote thousands of lines of code that is only aimed at breaking texture packs. All the people using (or even creating) texture packs must be using some kind of dark magic to get it working.
We now know what that little laser gun is for- Headshots.
The jellyfish don't take no lip.
I agree with what you are saying. Currently the aura will steadily grow in unused chunks so there is little risk of draining a chunk completely.
I'm considering removing the ability of vis crystals to increase aura and taint. This way the only thing that can alter the aura (apart from the flow as nearby auras flow into each other) is player created stuff, Silverwood trees and tainted areas.
Unless I can find another solution that is.
Trying to achieve a natural balance at world creation won't be doable.
I know you said they'd work normally if Aura dropped below 10%, but that still seems a little weak to me- It doesn't seem likely the aura would crash if you removed all crystals (I could be wrong). By this, couldn't you just remove all cyrstals, and leave the chunk be from then on, and It'll sit at it's current aura level, and only crash if you start depleting the aura itself?
So true, The thread is crazy busy these days, though It's died off a bit since the release itself.
I imagine when the 1.2.5 version is released, we'll see 50 pages the first day, then 30 pages of error reports, then back to what we have here- idea discussions and scattered errors.
Just use SSC/NEI/TMI, why bother?.................
Oh yes, because the first thing one should do when something seems a little too difficult is start cheating (well, some don't consider it cheating, but it's hardly survival if you do it). I disagree with the issue, and needing to duplicate items just to afford research means you're probably doing something wrong, but I see little need for such a dismissal.
Seriously though, research is not hard, it is not even really that time consuming. You just have to do it intelligently and stop throwing super valuable items at it when it is just sitting there 90% of the time. Quantity > quality. Having it run constantly on low value items will yield more results overall then throwing diamonds at it then running out after a few researches.
I'm not completely sold on quantity>quality. Now, I'm not saying you should start throwing in your diamonds, but I prefer researching using books, not cobble. Especially when you hit the fragment stage, where losing them can be a pretty big setback.
-Snipped stuff about EE blocks not smelting right-
EE and TC2 really don't seem to play very well together- EE totally breaks TC2, because you can instantly produce massive quantities of valuable objects to smelt/research with little to no effort (And don't give me that "it takes time to get there," the EE wiki states that it should only take like an hour to get to that stage (if my memory is holding))
EE blocks may be devalued to show how badly EE devalues everything, diamonds included, by making them so easily accessible.
Or it could just be spite. What's a little spite between competitors, hmm?

Oh good, I was actually going to suggest that.
Will it be a new block? Because I could also see you adding a "slot" to the filters like most machines have, and have it spit out vis when inserted with a concentrated evil (if it's "vis" mode filters taint, then it's "taint" mode would filter vis, no?)

lol ya i know but i dont rly dont know how to fix it so lol
Both have a block ID conflict.
Change the IDs of TC2 or IC2.
Also, do records have a Vis/Taint value in TC2?
Really just depends, EE2 is great for ThaumCraft because ThaumCraft is heavily reliant on Vanilla Item which EE2 can make, but EE2 requires alot of time and resources to even make any of the Items in it...

It isn't a big problem, it just makes vis in conduits and tanks look strange.
I couldn't find the vis texture and even if I could find it I don't know if simply upscaling it would fix the problem.

Ah, cool. Their effects tend to get overwhelmed by the underground crystals' effects, so I never could pin down what exactly they do.
