I really love this mod. I enjoy using the trees in my surroundings and turning them into beautiful tree houses. They look like trees on the outside, but inside it's cozy and pretty. <3
They're so big, I can set up different rooms and not have to change/expand anything on the outside.

It's a very cool Mod, you deserve a DiamondAxe:
But i have a Question:
is there a way to install the mod on a Server and don't have it to Spawn Trees random,
so that there will only be BigTrees if you plant them?

If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 99% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 1% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
Yeah. I believe it was either the 1.3.2 or one of the earlier 1.4 versions (or both?, maybe) that were doing just fine with the Forge compatible version of BWG3. I had them installed together at one point.
I have been using them together since 1.4.5. (non forge version prior to that for ages)
KS_HTK: Thanks for the axe! (grin) I forgot to add an easy option for that. Here is a configuration file that sets all big trees to not generate naturally, sets the jungle back to the unmodified jungle trees, and sets all the original Minecraft trees back to their default heights. Just copy this file into the same folder as minecraft_server.jar. http://www.mediafire.com/view/?hjbsijgkagsiiuf
Grugsy: Are you saying the patch works with Forge BWG for 1.4.6? (I guess I could try it myself...)
Piu: Nice video. What was the giant creeper face about? It took up half the video!
So, is this supposed to be Forge compatible? Because it's not working for me. Just a black screen after putting the files in minecraft.jar. Unless this messes with ore generation somehow, I can't think of any of the other mods I have installed that might conflict with it.

SPAAAAAAAAAAAACE!

damedsky: If you open up a mod zip file you will see all the class files it overwrites with names like "abx" and "yz". You can tell from that if two different mods overwrite the same classes. BigTrees and Forge both modify several tree generating classes (and another class), which are in Minecraft Coder Pack called WorldGenForest, WorldGenDeadBush, WorldGenHugeTrees, WorldGenTaiga1, WorldGenTaiga2, WorldGenSwamp, WorldGenTrees. I don't know what changes Forge makes to those classes, but it shouldn't affect most mods. I should investigate to see if there is a way I could do tree generation with Forge instead of modifying these classes myself. I prefer to keep the ability to override classic trees with BigTrees as that seems to work really well in keeping BigTrees working well with many mods that modify the world generation.
630tiger: It should work fine with Forge. Did you delete the "META-INF" folder in minecraft.jar? What does your crash log say? (You may have to run Minecraft from a Command Prompt / Terminal to get a crash log.)
This looks like a great mod! I am messing around with tree generation but it was nothing like this! I could not figure out how to make the trees large like this!

As to the first question, I did when I installed Forge, but Forge has its own META-INF folder, and I copied it over just in case. I don't know how to run it from a crash log. I had a look at the Forge text files in the .minecraft folder, but either they don't have logs of the latest failed startup (which I just ran) or Forge isn't seeing that BigTrees is in minecraft.jar. Speaking of which, for Forge, the mod class files are still supposed to go in the jar, right?
Just tried running it having deleted META-INF. Nothing changed.
EDIT: Would this mod happen to be incompatible with the Highlands mod?
I just downloaded it with the BWG3 mod, and the worlds freeze as they load- both when I'm creating a new one and loading an old world. I deleted the META-INF, and unzipped the BigTrees zip, then dragged the .classes into the minecraft.jar. Am I doing something wrong?
630tiger: Oh, sorry about that. I don't think you have to delete Forge's META-INF, but I can't remember. What mods are you running together? Have you tried just BigTrees and Forge without any other mods to see if it is some other conflict?
By "Highlands", I assume you mean this mod. BigTrees should be 100% compatible with it.
BlockApes: Which version of BWG3 are you using (and client or server? forge or nonforge?)? Which bigtrees zip file did you get the classes from (client or server? regular or the BWG patch?)? Make sure to install BWG3 before installing the BigTrees patch.
Amorai, and anybody else using BWG3_FORGE: It seems the BigTrees patch for BWG3 does not work with the Forge version of BWG3 for Minecraft 1.4.6. (It worked with previous versions.) I could just create yet another patch specifically for that case but I'm trying to find an elegant solution.
Thanks for the quick reply Karob. I would love to see a new patch for BWG as I don't think that BWG will be releasing a new version just for 1.4.7 as it is byte compatible.
I am in the process of setting up a minecraft server and I would love to incorporate BT into the map before it gets used. If you know of a work around (omitting specific classes from the patch) or have a quick fix, let us know.

Thanks, I just didn't use the BWG patch. Great mod!
Lightkeks: It looks like you are getting a class conflict between mods that modify recipes. You'll probably just have to keep trying different combinations of mods until you find which ones are not working well together.
Grugsy: Well, I went with the quickest fix I could think of- just making another patch.
I've updated the BigTrees 1.4.6 zip file to include a patch for the Forge version of BWG3 117:
BigTrees-146-all.zip: (direct) (adfly) 469kb - includes client version, server version, BWG3 client patch, BWG3 server patch, and BWG3 forge patch.

Ack, it's actually a pain to describe how to get an error log in Windows. This might help you: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Crash#Windows
