Development News:
I've been a bit sick lately, so I have been taking a break from coding. I hope to have the update ready soon, but I don't have an approximate release date yet. So far, I have the following features done:
Manual Reload
Improved shotgun ammo-switching (now you only have to press the button rather than holding it and right-clicking).
Improved the firing code to make faster guns (such as the LMG and Pistol) work properly.
Fixed gun racks not working if their block IDs were changed on the config file.
Once again I will attempt to add sounds, however whether or not this will be successful has yet to be discovered. After I either get sounds working or grow tired of trying, I will try to do the impossible and fix gun racks deleting ammo.
Also, I've rewritten the legal info section of the OP to make it more straightforward.
i have been working on trying to fix the problems like you said but nothing is working any more ideas
According to your error report, my mod was loaded correctly. Have you tried asking the creators of the other mods? Most of the errors occur during the Animal Bikes texture overrides, and several of the other mods (but not mine for some reason) have "null" next to the name. I would highly suggest asking the other modders as I cannot help you here.
Okay, I feel like a complete idiot. After all this time flailing around with sound files, rewriting code, and begging for forgiveness when it didn't come as-promised, the problem with my sounds is that they had numbers in their names. Seriously! Of all the reasons for things to not work, it was because of the names I used for the files! I am simultaneously ecstatic and full of rage, but either way you guys are getting sound next update.

Development news: Just got gun rack ammo-count-remembering working. Next, I'm going to try and cut the block ID count down to a less ridiculous size. Once that's done, I will release the update. I'm hoping to get it done today, but if that doesn't work then it will be no later than Monday.

Well, I've got good news and bad news:
The good news is that the update will be coming out today with ammo-remembering, manual reloading, sound, and fixes for fast guns. The bad news is that, due to the limitations of the Minecraft engine, there will be no reduction in block IDs for gun racks.
Also, just to let you all know, I've decided to stop adding guns for now. I think ten is a reasonable number and I feel that it would be better to make the current ones work well rather than simply piling more semi-working guns.
EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention: The sounds I have are pretty bad, so if someone knows where I can (legally, of course) get some good weapon sounds, that would be great.
An hour or so of post-editing later, version 3.3 is out! See the release notes for full details. Also, due to the addition of sound, the mod must be installed differently than before, so go to the "Instructions" section of the OP to avoid errors. Posts complaining that the mod doesn't work because they installed it the old way will be ignored.

An aspiring modder wanted help with something, so I made a little mod to demonstrate what he wanted. I've decided to release the finished product, so without further ado, here it is:
Redstone-Powered Fire Block!
It does exactly what you think it does: make fire when powered by redstone. Here's a few screenshots (spoiler'd because they're pretty big):
The powered fire block in its on and off states.
The powered fire block with Glimmar's Steampunk texture pack. The mod is automatically compatible with texture packs. No additional images required.
The crafting recipe.
The mod isn't posted on MC Forums, so you can get it from Planet Minecraft by clicking this link: FIRE!

hi!
do mobs use/craft the guns? (I miss this on all ranged mods Ive seen til now..)
it would be cool also if then they have poor condition guns (almost breaking).
thx!
Suggestion- Change the wording in the OP to simply say that the ammo boxes are abstract representations of ammo in order to save you the trouble of making a different magazine, clip, or speed loader for every gun. Than change the name of the current Ammo Box to Pistol Ammo and have a similar Ammo Box texture (perhaps a contrasting color) as Rifle Ammo, thus making the concept of loading an LMG with rifle clips(not magazines, mind you, but stripper clips for a bolt action rifle!) and sparing you from making the player's ***** and moan about how they should be able to keep non-fired revolver rounds when reloading.

So you're wondering if zombies and skeletons will suddenly learn how to use a crafting table and start carrying guns? No. Do I plan on making a gun-wielding mob at some point? Yes.

Interesting idea. I'll keep that in mind for later updates.
Also (this is completely unrelated), I've been working on another mod lately. It's an idea I has a while ago and started coding but never finished. I won't tell you what it is but I'll give you a hint:
It involves exploration and survival.

Just did some work on the OP. Cleaned up the crafting section significantly and organized the recipes by category, as well as added an FAQ section that should hopefully reduce the number of stupid/repetitive comments. Also, while playing on a friend's server, I discovered a rather nasty bug:
If you press the reload or shotgun ammo-switching keys in SMP, the game will crash. This includes pressing them while typing in the chat window, unfortunately.

If ypou place a gun on a gun rack, then close and reload the world, then take the gun off the gun rack, it will magically be transformed into a bolt action rifle.
The images for the LMG and gunblade are switched when on gun racks.
I will be releasing a bugfix update with no new features either today or tomorrow depending on how hard the bugs are to fix.

Okay, v3.3.1 is now out! It's just a bug fix update so there aren't any features to go over. However, I strongly recommend that anyone who uses this mod update to this version, as it is far more stable than version 3.3. PLEASE NOTE: Due to changes in the gun rack code, any gun racks placed before version 3.3.1 will lose the gun loaded onto them and may crash the game. To protect your valuable firearms, collect them from your gun racks before updating to version 3.3.1.
I've also added two new questions to the poll in the hopes that I can get a feel for what parts of the mod you guys like/dislike, so go ahead and vote up there. Seriously, do it. It helps me and will only take a minute of your time.

In a future update you should add gun enchantments (if that's possible).
My Minecraft Maps: coldfusionmaps.com
I've considered this, but I don't know if it could be done without modifying vanilla classes.

I only have two mods: SimpleGuns and the Powered Fire Block one on PMC. I think you're confusing me with someone else.
