Probably not, we're trying to stick to some of Minecraft's core fundamentals. There will be new furnaces and such coming eventually but nothing too complex.
Thank god i was worried there
(If you want overly complicated furnace rip-offs, go play TFC)
PS: I just realized that is the 2nd time people have suggested something that is already in TFC
The sad part is that is almost a copy and paste of how you use a TFC forge
PSS: Keep working on those upgrades for the furnaces SC

TFC is an awesome mod, but it is its own game. Metallurgy is an expansion of Minecraft, TFC is a total conversion. They aren't bound by the same design constraints I am really.
Note: You may yet see some cool furnaces in Metallurgy, just not an overly complex hyper-realistic ones. My target demographic is still at a lower end of the age spectrum and they don't always enjoy waiting for their coals to heat to the right temperature followed by properly dousing their metals in water.
Hey shadowclaimer, in 1.4 or another 1.3.? Version they made skeletons, zombie and zombie pigmen use armour and weapons rarely depending on difficulty. Im wondering if you will make them use your weapons and armour.
Just out of curiosity, do you plan on adding Titanium to your host of metals?
Also, I had an idea for one of your Sci-fi metals. I was watching the Scify channel recently, and Stargate Sg-1 was on, so I decided to watch it. The episode was about a metal from another planet that was many times stronger and lighter than steel. It was called Trinium(not sure if that's how you spell it). It was a silvery grey color.

That's a good idea, and I think its 1.4 that'll have that. I'll have to see if someone will put a Forge hook in there for it. On that same vein I might take a pot shot at Beacons using my metal blocks as well, but that's all dependent on how modifiable they are.

Sounds cool but the issue is there are a lot of metals, beginning with Tri- or Ti- that are grey or silver =P

The thing you said about TFC could not be more correct
And you read my mind on the second statement

With this amount of new metals, Iam wonder hows about the balancing.
Is there any documentation how the materials are different from each other.
Also, how the different tier-levels are set.
It's nice to have so much material which build on each other - but a diamond-sword is more than strong enough for every vanilla-enemy - how is this circumstance managed?
Base Metals covers a range of balance from Wood to Steel. Diamond is above Steel.
Precious Metals are lower strength and based around gold, high enchantability, high speed, **** durability.
Nether Metals range from mid-base to higher than diamond, but are rare as hell and hard to find in the nether.
Fantasy Metals (when its released) will cover the beginning to middle of Nether.
They're all modular so you can pick and choose which ones you want or don't want, down to the individual metals. If you don't want anything stronger than diamond you can actually disable the individual nether/fantasy ores that are better.
It's not, that Iam not want to use something better than diamond. But if Iam knowing how 'much' better theses ores are, than I have a plan how I have to adjust the dificulty of the gameplay so it still fits. Stronger Mobs, restricted healing, etc. pp.
Would be nice to have detailed charts and documentation in some wiki or anything else - but wont stop your enthusiasm working on the mod itself.
There will be a full spreadsheet available after release. We're using one to organize and balance everything.

You don't neccisarily have to keep the name, I'm not even sure if that's what it was called.
Lol, I believe your looking for Trinium, then again there was also Naquadah (which is a mineral but is also either natural liquefied or processed into a liquid to act as a power source). Sorry SG-1/Atlantis fan.
Anyways Shadowclaimer, keep up the good work. Love the mod.

are you gonna work on a distribution by biomes instead of the normal way?
Negative, Biome specific ores just.. it causes issues and its almost impossible to balance. Someday I may do like a single special ore per biome or something, but I won't be limiting them by biome.

your armor looks extremely epic, and you should add special abilities to tools, like one armor set would give you a speed boot if you had the whole set, another immunity to lava, another imunite to water, maybe one gives you double jump hieght, etc?

It gets brought up a lot, and its under consideration for some sets like fantasy metals or nether.
