The ore generation is kinda funky, at least in my opinion, considering that I find it near impossible to find Ender ores throughout the floating island. The only thing consistent is the vanilla ores, which somewhat retain their original spawn heights (like diamond being the most dense at level 12). You can, however, change the spawn heights, density, and vein size in the config. Also, go and search for the Backpack Mod for your answer for a bigger mobile inventory space.
cool, thanks. maybe ill just mine at level 25 or so.(i have plenty of diamonds)
anyone else have a problem when running this with twilight forest? some item id's are the same, and so things like blacksteel ingots have been replaced with naga scales, so when smelting black steel dust, it gives me naga scales, and i can make all the black steel stuff, but also the naga scale stuff. another one is oureclass dust and ingot; they have been replaced with steeleef axe and how, respectively. i changed the id's for the twilight forest stuff, added a 1 to the start, and i got this crash screen:

I am having compatability issues with the Metallurgy and RareOres mods.
When RareOres and Metallurgy run at the same time, all the Machines and TNT items you can craft in Metallurgy won't work. I can't craft them or even see them in the creative menu. I tested this with a clean minecraft, nothing but Forge and these two mods exactly as they are downloaded.
I am very conflicted. I don't know which mod I should unistall D:

A detailed walkthrough of the error, its code path and all known details is as follows:

Out of bounds exception means the number is higher than the game will allow. TF seems to use a "smart ID" system when generating its item IDs (meaning it skips already used IDs when adding to your game the first time). However, if another mod gets installed that uses a static ID allocation, it will likely conflict. I see this all the time because I run TF and Metallurgy together a lot.
Your best bet is to delete the TF config and let it regenerate so it will skip over the now-used IDs taken by Metallurgy. Note that if you have a ton of TF items already in your game, they may be messed up. Another route would be opening all your configs and manually changing the IDs (which you already tried but went out of bounds with). Perhaps IDResolver (1.5.2 and older) or IDfix (1.6.x) mods would help?

The config files are your friends! Get to know them, and shape your world!
Will there be Tinkers Construct support? And what are Sci Fi Alloy, Modern alloy, and elemental alloy? Great mod BTW!
i'm guessing that they are just things that have been added in but takenout, probably for stability, or will be added. also, there is a section for on the spreadsheet for sword and armour abilities, of which only some have been actually implemented, pylons, which i have no idea what are for, and orbs, which i think is for storing xp. i cant wait until these things are added in, although it will make managing your inventory even harder.

thanks, it now works fine. thanks so much. (it was really bugging me to have a couple of hoes in my metals chest.

YAY!! Also can you add TConstruct compatiblity and machines?
YAY!! Also can you add TConstruct compatiblity and machines?
I'm going to reiterate the wish for TConstruct compatability, in the specific context previously brought up of "ores that TConstruct already should understand working in the smeltery" - copper and tin, namely.
Also, IC2 macerator recipes would be great - I don't know if it's the same issue that keeps the macerator from understanding them as ores, or something else (e.g. TConstruct's gravel ores also don't work in the macerator, although IIRC they did in Thermal Expansion's pulverizer, or possibly in Mekanism's refiner), but right now they don't, one way or another; and as I'm having crash issues with Mekanism and thus can't use Electric Expansion, as it stands I don't have a way to process Metallurgy ores that doesn't involve shuffling coal around.
YAY!! Also can you add TConstruct compatiblity and machines?
Consider this my official notice on this:
There are two things going on with Tinker's Construct right now, there are the compatibility (Copper/Tin/Smeltery) issues, and there are TC Addons (which are all of our metals able to be made into tools.) We personally have no direct/personal plans for the latter, but the former (compatibility) is a "bug" we're going to be fixing. On the Addon side we have multiple, and I stress MULTIPLE people/groups working on it but none have managed to do anything yet.
For all intents and purposes at the moment our OreDictionary is broken, and its causing problems and compatibility issues with a LOT of mods, not just TC. We're working on it.

As much as I'm anticipating Metallurgy Reforged, I think fixing the OreDictionary issues is of the most importance.

Reforged is on the backburner. It is of importance but we're trying to get a lot of things locked in at the moment. 1.7's encroachment isn't helping since 1.7 will have to have an entirely new dictionary.
I haven't been in this thread for a while, so i come back to check up, and now i find out that 1.7 will take drastic measures to work with. That's just great. on the bright side, i'm glad to see that the oredictionay calls will be fixed sometime in the near future.
I've been getting a peculiar generation bug and I'm not really sure how to solve it.
After work today I decided to delve back into this mod feet first. I have the latest version and latest forge version (can get more specific later if needed).
After playing for a few hours, I thought it odd the way ore was spawning (or lack thereof). I was getting way too much of some stuff, and too little of others. After playing with the config file I decided to test the generation out a bit. I put on the spawn in the air cheat, then I turned off ALL ore generation except for precious metals (because I couldn't seem to find much of it, except for zinc). I noticed something odd, after flying around for a few thousand blocks just looking at ore, I could not find ANY silver. Some platinum, and tons of zinc of course. Okay so maybe I'm just not seeing the silver, I think to myself. I turn off everything but silver, and what do you know, the silver spawns everywhere the zinc would have been. If I turn both silver and zinc on, only zinc spawns. If I turn all 3 on, some plat and tons of zinc. I'm not sure why this is happening, but I also tried to find other ores using the same method and had some of the same results.
I think that the ore generation has some overwriting problems going on, I'm not sure what's causing it because I have no idea how it works. But that might explain why some people have said they can't find certain ores, and some other peculiarities.

I'm not entirely sure how Metallurgy handles the oregeneration, but I can assure you that Silver can spawn with all the ores enabled. I've encountered every ore at least once in my current playthrough, and I've spent quite a few hours on that world. Silver (along with particular Fantasy metals like Carmot.) are one of the least occurring minerals I have; I've only three and 1/3rd stacks of Silver dust, and I never use it to craft or smelt anything.
Now I'm not sure if my results are the same for others. With me, I can never find any Ender Ores and I didn't get any response on said ores. Regardless, if the generation is glitched, then that can definitely explain why some (or a good double handful) ores never seem to generate, and may actually be overwritten by other ores. If not, then you just need to look harder or just strip mine, or maybe even check if Metallurgy is installed correctly and just get a fresh batch of configuration files. My two cents; sorry if it didn't help.
cool, thanks. maybe ill just mine at level 25 or so.(i have plenty of diamonds)

its not a game breaking bug, but its annoying.
Perhaps IDResolver (1.5.2 and older) or IDfix (1.6.x) mods would help?
i'm guessing that they are just things that have been added in but takenout, probably for stability, or will be added. also, there is a section for on the spreadsheet for sword and armour abilities, of which only some have been actually implemented, pylons, which i have no idea what are for, and orbs, which i think is for storing xp. i cant wait until these things are added in, although it will make managing your inventory even harder.
thanks, it now works fine. thanks so much. (it was really bugging me to have a couple of hoes in my metals chest.
I use both on my server and we rarely ever find anything besides copper iron and coal, the other ores wont generate in the modded stones.
-We're no longer on the "don't suggest" list for FTB.
-Direwolf is going to be doing some spotlights for us in the future.
-We're working on consolidating our focus and bringing Metallurgy to the forefront.

YAY!! Also can you add TConstruct compatiblity and machines?
Also, IC2 macerator recipes would be great - I don't know if it's the same issue that keeps the macerator from understanding them as ores, or something else (e.g. TConstruct's gravel ores also don't work in the macerator, although IIRC they did in Thermal Expansion's pulverizer, or possibly in Mekanism's refiner), but right now they don't, one way or another; and as I'm having crash issues with Mekanism and thus can't use Electric Expansion, as it stands I don't have a way to process Metallurgy ores that doesn't involve shuffling coal around.

Scroll down to "Curse Link" on the right hand side, and make sure you also download keithyutils as the mod WILL NOT work without it.
