Question for you (and anyone else): Would you be interested in the ability to change the colour of the text in the Hit Number add-on? I was briefly playing with the idea while updating last night, but I didn't want to force a certain colour on everyone. You would be able to specify just about any colour you want using HTML colour codes (eg. 0xffffff => white, 0xff0000 => red, 0xffbb11 => orange, etc.)
How to I deactivate or uninstall this mod? I've lost my backup of the original "minecraft.jar" and now all I see when the game loads is a black screen.

There are a few ways, but you can only go back to a fresh copy of your minecraft.jar. The first is to delete your minecraft.jar and start up Minecraft - it will download a new one for you. Alternatively, go into "Options" in the launcher and do a force update.
Is there any way to minimize the size of the hit number? Diamond tools' durability number overlap the item next to it on the hotbar. Other than that this is a very handy mod to have.
Is anyone using McPatcher with this mod? I have both the main mod and then the durability counter in my McP list with the main mod before the counter but I can't seem to get it working.

Can you clarify what you mean here? Are you getting a black screen, errors, or are there no messages showing up when you start a game?
Hello, the server I play on utilizes a server plugin for Super Pick and for some reason whenever superpick is enabled, this mod does not recognize the tool you are using.
This is the plugin, I was wondering if there is some way to easily add support for this because I really love your mod.
Also, I could not get the plugin to install using MCpatcher either. minecraft would boot up fine, but the mod never created its preferences file and did not give the message upon logging into the game. I got my friend to send me his modded client which generated the preferences file for me, but I dont like his other mods.
In the end I had to patch my other mods in with MCpatcher, then manually put in Durability Warning to the .jar file and delete the META-INF folder
I might use this, but I'm worried that mods like EE and IC2 (which use 'durability' for other things) might end up spamming me with warnings when they're on low power. Would that happen, or is it coded to only do it with the selected vanilla tools (which, sadly, is again less useful, as mod added non infinite tools like RP2 gems won't warn me, but still useful)?
I haven't tested this mod with many others, other than some "game enhancers" like OptiFine and TMI. However, it should only give you a warning if the item's name contains "wood", "stone", "iron", "gold", or "diamond" (also dependant on your config file). The Hit Number add-on will display durability for anything that has durability, though.
I'll do some thinking about adding toggle-able support for specific item IDs, though I think some mods are using dynamic IDs now for compatibility...
I'll see what I can do.

Outstanding! Working great.
Are you planning to update "DW: Hit Number" or has it been folded into the main mod somewhere?
Great idea.
I hadn't noticed that MCP was updated, so I'll update this (and the add-on, kind of forgot about it last time) later today.
Are you sure you're on 1.1? Did you get any error messages? Do you have other mods installed?
Downloads
Durability Warning
DW - Hit Number
