I need some help. it didn't crash but I looked in the modloader.txt and it doesn't look like it has been loaded.I put the files in the correct place.
Make sure you're copying the files from the "jar" directory in "TheGunMod.zip" directly into the base directory of "minecraft.jar". It seems to be working for others, so if you have any more problems I would suggest asking for help on the ModLoader thread.
QUICK TIP TO ANYONE THAT THIS ISN'T WORKING FOR!The .Jar doesn't save the guns as .gun, you have to find the file after it is saved and rename it with .gun at the end.
Thank you for pointing this out, I will make sure that the gun files are saved as .GUN automatically in the next version of the GunCreator.
When i put it in the folder your said to put it in it doesn't work and gives me this error:FINER: THROWjava.lang.NullPointerException at mod_Guns.initItems(mod_Guns.java:75) at mod_Guns.<init>(mod_Guns.java:53) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Class.newInstance0(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Class.newInstance(Unknown Source) at ModLoader.addMod(ModLoader.java:275) at ModLoader.readFromClassPath(ModLoader.java:1114) at ModLoader.init(ModLoader.java:825) at ModLoader.AddAllRenderers(ModLoader.java:186) at aam.<init>(aam.java:61) at aam.<clinit>(aam.java:10) at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.a(SourceFile:259) at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.run(SourceFile:629) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
The mod appears to be having trouble loading the gun file. I will add some logging options to be able to see what is wrong with your file, but I do know that if the file was created properly it would load fine. Something must have gone wrong.

And inb4 MetaINF or some other installation ********, Ive been using mods since alpha, I know what Im doing.
It may be a mod conflict, but I doubt that, as this worked BEFORE I threw a .gun file in the respective folder.
I use internet explorer. i would also again suggest making a mirror, i know sometimes some sites act tarded and refuse to work. i personally dont care to use mediafire but whatever works. (i tried again today, same problem, DOWNLOAD does not show as a link.
I'm not sure about if it would work and stuff, but is it possible you could make a diffrent version instead of a .bat? For some reason .bats just close as soon as I open them.
You can also use the command I supplied in the original post (for non-Windows users, "java -jar GunCreator.jar"). I only provided a bat to make it easier for Windows users who don't like to type commands into command prompt.
Your problem may be that you don't have Java added to your PATH. Follow this article to find out how.

I don't know about everyone else but this works fine for me and I'm enjoying it, the only problem is the outside of the gun is meant to be transparent but for me it is either white or black, how do you make the outside of the gun transparent?

then dude, help us out :biggrin.gif:, i really want to use this mod, Im using windows, so do i save it as :
ExampleSniper.gun or ExampleSniper.GUN or ExampleSniperGUN ? and also where do i put the png files?
EDIT: Also the reason your gun's outside is white is because you probably used paint , didn't you? Paint does that, use either PaintNet or GIMP .
The IDs you choose should not be the same as any other items you might be using from other mods or the original game. But they shouldn't be causing errors like you're getting. I can only suggest reinstalling the mod on a clean minecraft.jar
I added a FAQ for creating guns that may be useful for you to check out. You can set the icon of the gun and the gun's bullet by going into the GunCreator GUI and clicking on the buttons (see the FAQ for which button is which).

DjGyarados answered your question, but I'll reiterate: using MSPaint or other simple image editors may leave a white or black background where you want a transparent background to be. GIMP is the most commonly used and free advanced image editor, so I would suggest going with that.

Save it as the name of the file with a ".GUN" extension (or ".gun", the capitalization doesn't matter). If you have the latest GunCreator, it will automatically add the ".GUN" extension if you forget when saving it.

Awesome, I used Paint.Net to make a transparent background also people that use Paint.net when you save as a .PNG don't tick Auto-Detect that will leave a black background and you will lose colour, choose 32-Bit.
P.S. I made a Proper Intervention, M4A1, and edited your tommy-sniper to just a tommy, im making a USP.
P.S.S. I would love these features in;
1. Able to configure Rate of Fire
2. Able to configure how many bullets it takes before it destroys a block =) (would love this one the most)
Heuristix , what i meant was, after i put them into the gun creator and what not, where do i place the png files? like in your folder, or does it automatically place it?

What do you mean by id path? Here is a screenshot of my guns folder (you should be able to see the path):
The error that you are getting is indicating that you are most likely missing some class files.
What is the problem you are having with it?
I mea the IDs I'm using also still same error
