If you would please take the time, and read through some suggestions of mine, that would be really cool.
Now, i understand you are just starting this, so this is for future reference.
Colonies and villages need food, so maybe, if you are the head of this village/city/colony/whatever, you could assign some citizens to do work, such as becoming guards and farmers, hunters, and so on?
But, thing is with that, it would be VERY cheesy to be able to allocate all villagers to guards, because not everyone is okay with that, or has the build and such.
So maybe make some NPC chars be born with traits, like a thin/big build, wise farmer, quick witted, and such.
Just a suggestion.
I could easily have probably have around a forum page or two filled with suggestions, anyways, nice mod.
Despite that being REALLY hard, Java is very flexible and that is easily possible, but however, that would require Notch-like java knowledge :\

Sounds interesting and I'd like to offer some suggestions that I'd love to see added to this.
First off, don't build a block that spawns a house. I feel its more believable if we have to build their houses for them, or they spawn on world generation. I'd personally like to see this work more like Terraria. You have to build a room/house for the person and if it meets certain criteria, then an NPC will spawn and move into the vacant house.
For instance the criteria could be:
`-Must be a completely enclosed room, no smaller then 4x4x2. no larger then 16x16x16.
`-Must have a minimum light level 8.
`-Must have a door.
`-Must contain a special spawning block (that will attract an NPC if all criteria is met)
Meeting these 4 would attract regular villagers, with a small chance of a specialized villager.
You could attempt to attract specific specialized NPC by adding other criteria to the room such as:
`-If the room contains a bookshelf, it attracts a quest giving NPC.
`-Forge attracts a weapons smith.
`-Iron block attracts armorer.
`-Gold/diamond block attracts an eccentric rich man (maybe useful for item quests?)
`-Plants attract a crop farmer.
`-House containing 2 like animals attracts an animal breeder.
`-House made completely out of wood attracts lumberjack.
`-Workbench attracts a builder.
`-House made out of cobblestone, attracts a miner.
Other jobs that'd be useful.
`-Doctor/healer/nurse/Alchemist. (creates potions, heals wounds)
`-Animal/mob spawner. (summons good or bad mobs)
`-Mercenary for hire. (a friendly fighter that follows you upon payment)
`-A redstone engineer (copies pre-made templates).
`-Chief. (Cooks food)
`-Vendor/Merchant (sells items created/harvested by other NPCs).
`-Courier (Transports items from other NPCs to merchant?)
`-Thief/Gang member/Trouble maker (When a NPC becomes dissatisfied or necessary criteria is missing ie: Creeper blows a hole in their house, they become this character, which steals, kills, and vandalizes, which in turn can cause other NPCs to become one of these characters.)

Hmmm.... The housing thing is a good idea, I dunno how I would do that though.
Jobs, however, are a GREAT idea!
I could do almost all of those!
hey i love the mod but it just updated right how do you breed i want to see how funny it is like in 1.9 with baby animals
Look in the 'blocks and items' section for the crafting recipe.
All it does is, if you right-click on a Female Villager, a child will spawn, nothing else.
Once 1.9 is offically out, I'll add the Hearts and stuff breeding.
Right-clicking the air with it will play part of the 'Yello - Oh Yeah' music.
I see the people but they have got the weird skin thing that happens in mods sometimes, their all white and have a line on their heads :tongue.gif: i need help
i have a problem. a BIG problem. i put all the files from "male" inside my jar, and when i had started a family, i went to a nearby village, and a MALE guard followed me everywhere
Why not make it so , when the night comes, the girls/guys look for the nearest bed and lay in it, and if you sleep in another bed near or beside them, then you wake up with the kid standing there or something?
EDIT: The breeding gear only works on the female villager, and not the female guard, is this intentional?
ps. Didn't test playing as a female so not sure about that.

I don't think so.
I totally agree with you.
Hewwo :3
I really want to get into this modding stuff, java class and such, but i'm a great learner when it comes to seeing things done.
Still, it is a pretty hard thing to do.
I'm sure there is a way, I'll look into it.
Updating in a minute.
That'd be awkward.
Breeding adding!

Added Video! Doesn't showcase everything yet though.
Why not just use Millenaire? Millenaire has buildings that are more interesting than just

Haters gon hate.
