They credit covert jaguar, but they put their own links in... They also seem to have a 1.6.2 version... This may be why I dont trust external sites to the minecraft forums page other than modders hompages...

They can advertise all they want, but the only way to get this mod legitimately is to come here to the forums. I've read about people downloading so called "mods" from other sites only to end up with viruses on their computers. That's not the case here. We have the advantage of the mod authors themselves answering questions and giving advice to people who use these modifications to Minecraft. This is why I will never visit any other site to download mods.
That being said, here is some advice to all newcomers to the minecraft forums: If you want the latest and greatest mods for Minecraft, come here first.
(By the way, thanks Covert for making such an awesome addition to Minecraft)
block.hidden is really REALLY annoying.
I am unable to till fields if I walk on them. I've been unable to place buildcraft pipes in slots where Ive just removed them. Ive set their id to 0 now and a whole lot of weirdness has gone away.
A different point however: The Hobbyists Steam Engine has a really strange power output profile:
I can run a BC quarry using a plain BC stirling engine - or a Forestry Peat Fired Engine - both output 1MJ/t. Its not fast. But it goes.
Powering a Quarry with a Hobbyists Steam Engine however - the Quarry does its startup, and builds its frame. And then - nothing. The crossbeams never appear. Which is odd as, with 1.6MJ/t output it should run it faster than a 1MJ/t engine.
I hooked up 2 HSE's in multiple configurations - two engines directly attached to the quarry - an 'inline' arrangement with one engine inputting to a directly attached engine, two engines connected via conductive pipe to the quarry - and found that two engines directly hooked up to the Quarry mined about 50% faster than the conductive pipe solution. And this is with BC 3.7.2 and RC 7.3.0.0
Guys, I'm surprised, but on 9minecraft.net is fully working Railcraft 7.3.0.10 to MC 1.6.2 Where did they get it? On the Railcraft official site and here is no such version.

note that the hobbyists steam engine only outputs 1MJ/tick unless you're feeding it steam externally.

Prove it. The site is not reputable and most mods ARE NOT UPDATED!

1.6MJ/t (as per its own UI) as the basic, and 2MJ/t with external steam is what I read.
Even 1MJ/t however should be capable of running a Quarry.
Actually Ive never understood the rationale behind BC engines power delivery at all anyway: Why MJ/t? It should be MJ/cycle - i.e. each piston action should emit a constant amount of energy - the speed of the engine would be its effiency. We have however the unintuitive situation where the (BC) engines are more efficient when cold as they deliver larger bursts of energy that can more efficiently saturate devices inputs.
I'm having the 7805 Issue when I try to connect to a LAN game on my network.
It's weird though. because the Modded minecraft was made on my computer and then just copied over in it's entirety to the other computer for us to play on. Fresh Map generated too.
the Minecraft install did previously have an older railcraft installed, but I made a new map so...
No files have been changed, we were playing fine last night. shutdown, went to bed. Started up today and now it won't let me connect to the game stating that 7805 is missing.
We Don't have industrial-craft so I guess I can just wiggle things about in the configs and it should all still work... (we haven't even started railcraft yet actually. just finished getting a wheat/carrot farm up, TinkersC smeltery and a slime room.)

If it does go all wiered on you, just copy the contents of the config folder on the server, to the client: It won't matter what mods you are using as, by definition, you will be setting the client to the servers 'working' config with all the item and block ids as they are in the game file. Standalone games might be corrupted, but synching config from a server is always the 'safe' option.

because for me a github acount will be a waste of time to make, can some one post a bug on the railcraft issue tracker for me please? her's the bug:
the water tank inside the hobbyist's steam engine, when hovered over, gives the tool tip:
fluid.tile.water 0 / 4,000
when empty. the amount works fine, it's the name that is the bug. it is supposed to say water, but in this case it gives the name from the code. thanks in advance.
Argh! today the 7805 came back again. I just keep using an NBT editor to remove the 7805 from the world before I load it now, as when the host starts up the map without my having done so it complains that it's missing 7805 as well, but then offers a load anyway option. So strange. but as I haven't moved up from 1.5.2 ... Bugs are to be expected.
There isn't a Single railcraft item on the map aside from a couple of creosote oil bottles we found in a mineshaft... so the only railcraft stuff would be that which can spawn. I delete 7805 from the level.dat every few hours... eh. I can get it to load and play so can't complain.
i don't know about the site, but there IS a 1.6.2 railcraft; it's on IRC, as stated in CJ video series. which i recommend.
I have yet to find this 1.6.2 version you speak of. All I have found from searching through the forums and Google are 1.5.2 versions, nor I have a seen a 1.6.2 Railcraft spotlight from either the mod creator, Direwolf20 or other, so... ?
