Ok, I was going to do the 'growable blocks' thing in the config file... but there isn't one.
Oh, wait. After reading through the thread, I checked my desktop instead of the .minecraft folder. >.> there it is.
Why does it generate the config file on my desktop? o.o
Also, I don't see a 'growable blocks' or anything - all the config file has is this:
Torches=true
MassiveTree=false
That's the whole file.
Do you have an example file with whatever other things we can change?

(edit to add: and can I move it to the .minecraft folder, into my config folder, where modloader sticks all those, or does it have to stay on the desktop? :/)

Yay, the pre-release works. Although, what's with the ring of glowstone at the base of every tree? lol
Also, with the pre-release version, I didn't have to change anything to be able to stick a sapling on an obsidian block. It works out of the box. Thank you!
I have tried treecapitator, it doesn't recognize the huge trees as trees. I mean the one with just wood and leaves - not recognizing pumpkins as trees makes sense. :smile.gif:
I seem to remember Timber having no difficulty with it, but I think that was on a server with the bukkit version of a giant trees mod, so it might not be this one.
Ooh a request from my son (the one I'm building these for, he's four so needs help learning how):
Can we get trees that utilize more than one type of material? Like, a randomizer of some sort?
To get the idea across, he wants to be able to build a tree with red and blue glass (from Pam's mods) and spruce leaves and glowstone - as a Christmas tree.
I know, it's a big request heh. He'd be thrilled if we could manage it, though. :smile.gif:

Edit to add: This is the forest we've started - Yay! (and yes, the one on the left is the star right now - it's a WATER tree. Gold blocks on the bottom, water on top. We've not started it flowing as a waterfall right now).

Has anyone else tried? :smile.gif:

Yes. Don't do it. I tried on one of v 1.5.5's largest trees, and ended up just deleting the map, due to the sheer amount of lag that wasn't going away, pretty sure it was due to the despawn cycle of the leaves, and the amount of blocks the tree dropped.

Hmm, maybe just make a new config file option, for amount of leaf block types, and have it setup like you currently do, but with 2+ spots for leaf blocks instead of just the one. so, like
[sapling]
[obsidian]
[leaf]
[leaf]
[trunk]
It's normal Minecraft blocks! why the hell not?
the only thing that will happen is that they won't spawn naturally
Thanks!
Infinite! Any combination works!
You just lost the game.
I tried disabling roots but still.
I will fix that today...
HOW do you get the game to allow you to put saplings on obsidian? I can only put them on dirt...
Same with flowers (My son wanted a tree with flowers as the leaves) - can't plant them in anything but dirt.
?
I even tried on Creative mode, but it didn't help.
....go figure.
Make sure that "Growable Blocks" has the obsidian block ID... Otherwise, try reinstalling. Tell me if that doesnt work

you must be using an old version? O.o
Lol I just downloaded it today, to be sure I wasn't.
oddly, I just reinstalled it and it put a config into my minecraft folder. That's really weird. Maybe I managed to get an old version after all....
Did this just get updated?
*boggle*
Going in to play with config now, will let you know what happens.
(edit: ROFLMAO it generated the same file as before, just in a diff place - still need parameters.)
....go figure.
Download the prerelease... It's stable at this point.

How would you suggest I implement randomization?
[sapling]
[obsidian]
[leaf]
[leaf]
[trunk]
Obsidian
[leaf]
Obsidian
[trunk]
and if it cant find obsidian within say 4 blocks deep, it just does:
Obsidian
[leaf]
[trunk]
