You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!
Hey! I have been getting rather frustrated due to a similar issue, except in my case it crashes the client as opposed to just lagging it. only vanilla functions are mentioned in the top, but once you get down to the list of everything going on at the time, you see several TF naga segments at 0,0,0 while I was in the overworld(where that obviously shouldn't be happening. Did you find a fix to your problem(might help me with mine?)?
Seems like that would kinda defeat the purpose of using a ranged weapon...

I think you are replying to me, even though you don't make it very obvious. I haven't found a fix yet, as I think it can only be fixed in code. I haven't researched the issue much, because I am not even sure that it influences the tps or fps at all. It definitely does not crash me.
Have you noticed that these elements stop being generated and stop being counted by the client once you open any gui? Whether it be the chat menu, game menu, inventory or any other gui? (the F3 menu not included)
Does this happen with only TTF installed by the way? I haven't had the time or need to test.
Alrighty, so I did a little bit of testing. (Hopefully this makes it more obvious I am replying to you.) I actually removed TTF from my server, and got the same crash, so it can't be related to TTF. I guess I thought it was since it seemed odd for parts of a twilight forest to be spawning at the origin of the map, but that is not what has crashed me. What makes my crash a bit more frustrating is that I have like 200+ mods and the crash report doesn't point to any of them as the culprit, so I can't do what I usually do(remove the mod) to fix it, and once I get that crash, I am required to delete my Player.dat to let me re-enter the server. haven't tested to see if I can re-enter the region I was in, will test that soon enough.
I've always loved the twilight forest. I just wish you could have an config option that has you start in that dimension. That way, you can make it as a mod pack that starts out in that dimension, and you could create a portal to get to the real world. I think that would be cool.
I don't know if this is the correct place to post this, but I will, anyway (just in case). I just installed Twilight Forest and made a portal. Everything was fine until after I went through the portal. My twilight forest seems to be infested with tons of particles flying everywhere. The only thing that seems to fix it is going into creative mode. I've tried sphax and vanilla texture packs but nothing seems to fix it but going into creative, which is disappointing because these particles are really annoying. I've attaching screenshots.

You need to follow the progression of the mod to get rid of those. Follow the achievements to find your way.
In other words, the particles are the mod's way of telling you: "You should not be in this area of the Twilight Forest yet. You should go somewhere else first to unlock it."
I think this "path of progression" can be turned off in the config files somewhere?
It's not there, but it's also no longer a gamerule. I think you can disable them individually, though I don't see why you would personally. (I like the progression, personally).
I noticed with your Wiki hosting it seems like you exceed the bandwidth limit quite often. I have an unlimited space/bandwith
plan that's yours to use if interested. This is no more than a thank you for your work on this amazing mod :D. I PMed you my contact info.

I've only just caught up on all the updates that TF has had since 1.6.4 and I'm pretty impressed. I'm creating a personal modpack and keep it super close to vanilla. It's for me use on a server. I don't want use more than 20 at max and keep it to slightly enhance vanilla. I don't want something that massive alters the terrain or adds any tech or complex systems. TF is supposed to be the only big thing in it. Here's my lineup so far. Mind you, this is just all the mods I need compiled in one spot. I know some of these are only client-side and others are server side. :3
I wanted to know, will the vanilla armors be enough to progress through TF without too much difficulty? And if not, is there something that is super close to vanilla or just a little bit better than vanilla to use?
I just found out about the various books for the areas...very well done. c:
At first I thought the Kobold had stolen a book from me but then I realized I didn't have any enchanted books...had to lure him back out of the snowstorm to kill him for it. Little bugger.

I'd also look at rail craft. doesn't add anything crazy, maybe try battle gear 2 mod, and/or the dynamic sword skills mod, it adds LOZ style sword skills to the game.
and also smart moving, I almost can't play without that mod.
I guess vanilla armour should be enough. Some TTF armour may come in handy as well. You'll just have to be strategic and not rush the Hydra head-on like I do while wearing full Draconic Evolution, Thaumic Tinkerer or Redstone Arsenal armour.
Taking a look at your mod list:
-You need CodeChickenCore for NEI, the correct CodeChickenLib will automatically be downloaded by CCC.
-It's not really "fair" to count the core mods as separate mods when going for less than 20 mods total. For NEI, you need both CCC and CCL, which means that this mod would count for 3, which may be ridiculous as some other mods may be bigger, but downloaded as 1 mod.
-I am missing OpenEye and some of these other mods. If this server is going to be big, you also may want to include Forge Essentials. There are some plugins for Waila (Harvestability or Wawla) you could consider as well.
TTF? I'm not sure I'm familiar with that/don't know what it stands for. xD I don't want anything that has technical/power/energy tech requirements.
Well, I may go over 20 mods then, but I don't want this to be a heavy pack, you know? I installed Obsidian/Emerald armor and tools, I also put in a few of the utility mods you already suggested. And yeah, I just don't it to be massively different from vanilla. TF was supposed to be the biggest non-vanilla aspect with that vanilla adventure feel. I'll report back with some more experiments.
Also, this is supposed to be a modpack for just me and my SO. c:
count the actual mods, not any of the mod files nor the mods list, forge itself is counted in there and has 3 parts, Forge, Forge mod loader, and Minecraft Coder Pack.

I'm wondering, in the TwilightForest.cfg file, there is listed an option to change what item is used to activate the twilight portal. But when I changed it to "arsmagica2:essence:5" (the nature essence from Ars magica), nothing changed in game and the portal was still activated with a diamond.

It's from Red Dwarf. Means something like "buffoon".

ender bow isn't a ranged weapon, it is a longer ranged version of ender pearls.
It might be intended for utility/ease of travel than combat..which I think could be useful
Bla bla bla gimboid

Ok! Thank you for your help. I was unlucky enough to spawn in a snowy forest next to a swamp, which are the 2nd and 4th biomes, apparently.

TTF = The Twilight Forest.

What is the proper syntax to use for that option?
