ok after a little more testing i have found that harvesters only work while facing east or west i am gonna try a few more configurations though to see if i can come up with something else.
The hell? I'm sure I tested that. A screenshot of the bad configuration would be of an immense help still, though, since obviously you're doing something different than me.
(You're using sun rising as east, right?)
Ok problem seems to be solved, first off i was still under the impression that the harvester had to have constant power like the original which didn't work. It has to be pulsed and secondly i was using wireless redstone to do that, which is ok if you run a lead of three blocks with redstone wire before connecting it with a receiver. All seems ok now.

Good to hear. I'll add some of the notes about redstone into the OP so that hopefully anyone else will be less confused. Thanks for the effort testing the problem!
Make it forge compatible!
Uh, well, it is. If you want me to USE forge, well, I won't until it's compatible with Optifine because I need that to play and I'm not going to make a mod I can't play. That's just silly.
Yeah i need Optifine too but I'd rather have buildcraft with lag then going into tmy deep old boarded up mine that i haven't been in since 1.3, with no torches in it and possibly flooded from finite liquid...

I'm still using buildcraft 1.7.3 because of optifine; it seriously takes me from like 20 to 120 fps. Minecraft without it is just unbearable now. I really hope they and forge can figure out how to make the two work together soon.

Yeah i like 2.0.1 just because you can have faster quarries so i have less and get the same amount of stuff in less time.
Conveyor belts not cancelling vertical movement (this looks especially hilarious when items fall off one onto another)
Maybe fertilizers for sugarcane/cactus
Forge compat at some point
I also have other mods I want to do (which will use this thread). Don't want to say anything specific as my plans often change, but right now I'm looking at some stuff to improve automated minecart networks.
If you gonna be doing other mods i have a suggestion for a mod, i always wanted a Mining robot, something you could place deep down in a mine shaft next to a double storage chest and it would just start mining and collect everything and return back to the double storage chest and unload everything into it then go back and mine some more. This in conjunction with allocators, minecart elevator and a few other mods will take mining into the automation age.
1.0.3 updated. You can now trigger more than one machine off of one redstone pulse. Dear god I learned way more about TileEntities than I ever wanted to know.
When you load a previous world into 1.0.3, your harvesters almost certainly will be misrotated even if they appear fine. Re-rotate them. This is a one-time fix; after that they will work correctly again.

That is.. difficult, to say the least. BuildCraft and IndustrialCraft both have automatic miners (albeit in a limited area; BuildCraft's is much more powerful as well). That kind of automation is as of right now far beyond me, sadly. The suggestion is appreciated though!
I was thinking what might be nice is if we put a chest next to a harvester it dumps the stuff in the chest and not on the ground
That sounds reasonable. Do you want it on any side, or just the "exhaust" side? (The latter is much easier to do).
I also found a really minor bug where on SMP it doesn't properly send notification to players that it tilled a field, but all still works fine so I'm not going to bother patching that one until I have more stuff to go with it.
You can also use the Pfaeff's Allocator mod and that would feed directly into a chest plus you can filter objects as well.
The Problem there is Pfaeff's mods aren't for SMP
Edit: I should have said they arent modloaderMP compatible as I believe they are buckit compatible but since none of the SMP Mods I am using are Buckit compatible that option is out of the question.
Well thats not a problem for me i only use ssp but i can see where it would be a problem for the SMP players. But since you didn't state ssp or smp when you first suggested it i thought i would toss the idea out there.
I've actually done private SMP ports of a couple more well known mods, but they aren't mine (and were buggy in a couple edge cases) so I'm not going to ever release them.

Huh, I thought he was compatible with non-bukkit SMP. Guess I was wrong.
For SSP there's also.. magic chest? I think, that will let chests collect items on collision. I'm actually using buildcraft pipes personally, if you stick an obsidian pipe directly behind the harvester it will collect on collision without needing to be powered.
There will be an update today for the tilling thing I mentioned and the chest thing, and maybe one or two conveyor tweaks. Since the horrible bugs are dealt with it probably won't be until later this evening.

Real life happened; no update tonight. Should get it done tomorrow probably. I'm sure you can all wait a day :tongue.gif:
Ok, power crystals, in SMP, the leaves of 'fertilized' trees is invisible. Upon re-logging the leaves re-appear.
And, as far as i have tested, multiple harvesters on the same patch do not speed up the process. This doesn't seem necessary if the clock signal is fast enough.
For the rest it works seamless with Eloraams redpower mod.
The hell? It should be calling the exact same function as when you rightclick on a sapling with bonemeal. I'll make sure nothing else is different, but it may just be related to how trees in SMP randomly get invisible leaves when they grow up normally sometimes. Regardless, I'm not sure I can actually fix that one, but I'd like to at least see it happen to myself.
I'm also kind of confused why multiple harvesters aren't speeding it up, but that's not an intended feature so I'm not really concerned if it doesn't work either. I suppose I should at least figure out why it's doing that.
And thanks for testing with redpower!
(ps you seem to have forgotten to link to the full size versions of your screenshots)

In the part that says can your fertilizer be aimed down...it says download instead xD
Obviously Running from a Creeper =O
