You should make a treat that's EXTREMELY hard to aquire; whether it's by getting all these items in "dog dungeons" or regular dungeons; or even by making them very expensive and hard to make ( multiple steps to make them) that maxes out all the skills, that would be sweet even if it would be kind of OP. (Oh how can I put mods in my server, because there are a couple mods I would like in my server).
I like this idea, but might I suggest a few changes?
-First, I would make it so the treat is ONLY found in dungeons, maybe the same rarity as diamonds.
-Second, I would make it so it doesn't max all skills, but instead allows you to go above the max level.
-Third, this allows it to not be as OP and gives the possibility of maxing ALL skills. However, you'd have to do a lot of spelunking. I'd say making it so you really only find a few.
I'd love to see this get implemented. Especially if it came with custom doggy dungeons to find them in.

I've been considering adding something like this as a bonus for defeating the Enderdragon, but apparently that's easier than I initially thought. I'll think about it.
Adding original dungeons kinda detracts from the main purpose of the mod, just like the enderwolves would have, so that's out, but I think I have some idea of how to do this properly :smile.gif:
Also, sorry for the delay, I can't continue beyond where I am without this piece of info on how to refresh a GUI. If I don't get an answer within the next few days, I'll just flail at the problem randomly until it's fixed :smile.gif:

Can't you look at the existing code for something like the options menu? Doesn't that update when you press a button.

aaaaaand now I feel really stupid. I found the problem, and I just fixed it. I'm working on completing the system as we speak, and then I'll implement the last skill!
'Wait! What does that mean?! I can't panic properly unless I know what that means!'
'Well believe me, Mike, I calculated the odds of this succeeding versus the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid, and... I went ahead anyway.'
Alright guys, I'm considering Doggy Talents feature-complete, and now we're just in bugtesting phase before I move on to multiplayer.
My next project will be along the same general theme:
Take one of Notch's poor, neglected ******* child updates and do what's necessary to make it useful.
So next in line for that treatment is:
Maps. Maps could be so useful, but they're so shallow right now that there's really not much you can do with them. I plan to change that.
I agree Maps are kind of useless and really bastardized and most minimap mods make them completely pointless to even use. I did see one mod that lets you place your maps on a wall and copy maps that was pretty cool. You could put up an entire world map on your wall but still rather useless.

I'm planning on making it so you can change the scale value of maps, which is actually already possible technically in the code, though it's not implemented in-game.
RaustBlackDragon, I just want to thank you for making this mod! It's way WAY better than the way the original wolves worked and adds a fun new option to minecraft. So far I've run into no technical conflicts of any kind over several updates, and I like the skill-sets you created. Everything is more or less balanced to work well in vanilla minecraft, or with other mods. And you are so polite about it too!
You've done very well in improving on the pre-exsisting system, thank you!
I will eagerly await any mods you make in the future.
Well they're both canines so what difference does it make?
And furthermore dogs evolved from wolves
Except this mod is called "Doggy" Talents, and specifically says wolves get turned into doggies once you feed them the first treat.
Please click it or it will die
EDIT: might edit the Video...

The text on the BUTTONS updates, not the text on the page.
...wait a minute... what about...
Hey, I think there actually might be one that does that!
I'll check it out!

Fun thing to do:string the names of your wolves to make funny sentences :laugh.gif:

(I guess you can say they make wolves.... better.)
