I see. Yes threads are bad. A game I made required threads. In the end I couldn't run the program at all because it froze the game, the environment, the compiler, the taskmng, and in the end the shutdown.exe. I had to cut the electricity. (Solution: removing the threads)
So you don't know how to use multithreading, therefore it is bad. Want some proof otherwise? Open Task Manager. Compare processes to threads. How about knowing it's generally good design to have the UI and any backend processing on different threads to improve user experience? Did you know that the Paulscode SoundSystem that Minecraft uses does multithreading? Oh, and here's an example screenshot for Task Manager by the way to make it easier to compare for you.
For Windows Applications I had used WinAPI till a company told me it's hardly used. Since then I started using VC++ and .net framework. Also WinAPI is not required to make a simple Console Prompt program. (well maybe to pause it or to make it wait some time before closing if you use no <iostream.h> for input). And as much as I know by "WinAPI" is meant <windows.h>
You are correct, WinAPI is rarely used raw. But everything still uses it backend. Next time you code something for the .net framework, decompile it and look at what it uses internally. WinAPI IS required to do it since you need to call AllocConsole, whether you do it or the framework you are using does it doesn't matter.
I know an programmer writes software. I also know you write instructions in a language that will be translated to a language the computer understands and can run. Still you can't modify the non-existence. I never said you don't write code either. I only said you edit or add to something already existing. In this case: Minecraft.
~Thanks for reading, YoshisIsland~
I don't get what you mean by "Still you can't modify the non-existence.". Can I have some context to what you are talking about? Are you saying I can't modify code that doesn't exist? If so, that completely obvious. Just a tip, I'm a Programmer first and a Modder second, as are a lot of modders. As for the rest, a quote will do.
If you're a modder you're a person that makes a modification for a Program, a programmer or developer has developed/created. (changing source)
If you're a programmer you make your actual own game or a revamp/solution/remake of another game (requires the license in most cases). (creating source)
This is making me laugh so hard, NO ONE is going to use your mod EVER if you don't use ModLoader, REASON; It doesn't WORK with 99% of the other MODS that exist. If you're gonna keep saying you hate APIs/ModLoader then you must be pretty.... not gonna say that word.
You foolish fools will never defeat me! You are far too busy being foolish!

Edit: For those who don't get it: I think this whole conversation is foolish. Let him make his mod. He has indicated he won't use modloader. If it fails, it fails. All you're doing is making publicity for him. All publicity is good (for him) publicity.
The download link is broken probably because you're using dropbox and went over the 20GB a month bandwidth limit. That's my best guess. Try finding an alternative host, like, say, filesmelt or mediafire.

No, I purposely messed it up because I was scrambling to fix the bad release.
I played though the latest version and had a lot of fun. I also noticed a few thing.
When playing with the extra WorldHeigth.class file the level generation took along time (at least 20-30 mins). When the world finally loaded there were a lot of lighting bugs. I also noticed that the inventory squares are all out of place and don't line up with the GUI. I continued to play this world but when ever the game generated a new chunk it froze. After about 20 minutes I remade my minecraft.jar with out the extra WorldHeight.class file. This time the level generation took about 5 sec and no lighting bugs to be seen. However, after exploring a little I found a correction chasm and they had lighting bugs. I played for about an hour or so and ran into some problems with the game saving chucks the going black. I closed minecraft and went back in. Here's a few other thing I noticed.
Chest textures
Raw and Cooked chicken texture
Beef and Steak texture
Music Disks texture
some gem textures
Gold tools still suck
Cant smelt new ore
I'll let you know if I notice anything else. Also, I took some screenshot so if you would like them let me know and I'll send them.
Made a new world into a freshly new minecraft.jar, then after like 2 min. i got this:
java.lang.NullPointerException

A few comments, and maybe I'm missing something obvious. I've read the opening post and watched the two videos and skimmed most of the thread, but I can't really find out what this mod claims to do besides add vines underground and very tall chunks. After skimming the thread, I saw Terrraria references. Also, I see a lot of comments about it not using Modloader. I've picked up that it really, really, really doesn't use Modloader. But..
Am I missing it? What does this mod claim to *do* (either now or in the future)?
Also, I think you should remove the little top tail on the last "t" of your logo. It really looks to me like "Terracraff"
ummm the mod is not working right for me all the inventory spaces are unaligned and the steak and chicken are mixed up too.. i have raw chicken as the corrupion ingot and the coocked chicken as the hellstone bar. am i just scewing up installation?
i think it might just be that all the textures are in the wrong place
In case you are interrested, I made a multi-platform java based jar modder, can add files to .minecraft and minecraft.jar, also every mod file is stored inside the launchable jar (One file to launch, no bundled folders). It also loads banner for the installer from the jar. If you want to use this/request features, drop me a PM :smile.gif:
umm that sounds weird why wouldn't you want to use modloader?
i mean why wouldn't you use modloader or at least make it so it works with it just so people wont complain about not being able to use other mods but i don't care just saying. :biggrin.gif:

Whether you prefer it or not doesn't mean it's right. And from what you've shown me, you guys both need to relearn how to program.
I had to ask since sentence structure seemed to be odd, and I wasn't sure if it was a translator or second language.
