Um... what? You're using modloader so you're not editing anything that deals with brightness... Which means you're stuck to 0-1 for brightness. You set a 2 in there instead, it gives you something (exactly) like this:
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 30
at net.minecraft.src.ChunkCache.getBrightness(ChunkCache.java:75)
at net.minecraft.src.Block.getBlockBrightness(Block.java:152)
at net.minecraft.src.RenderBlocks.renderStandardBlockWithAmbientOcclusion(RenderBlocks.java:1943)
at net.minecraft.src.RenderBlocks.renderStandardBlock(RenderBlocks.java:1922)
at net.minecraft.src.RenderBlocks.renderBlockByRenderType(RenderBlocks.java:125)
at net.minecraft.src.WorldRenderer.updateRenderer(WorldRenderer.java:148)
at net.minecraft.src.RenderGlobal.updateRenderers(RenderGlobal.java:1073)
at net.minecraft.src.EntityRenderer.renderWorld(EntityRenderer.java:553)
at net.minecraft.src.EntityRenderer.updateCameraAndRender(EntityRenderer.java:430)
at net.minecraft.src.EntityRendererProxy.updateCameraAndRender(EntityRendererProxy.java:23)
at net.minecraft.client.Minecraft.run(Minecraft.java:514)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
Unless somehow you got around that. I really do want you to be telling the truth, because if you found a way to bypass that its freaking awesome, but I just don't see how. Unless you're being sarcastic with saying you're completely serious.... its very late and my internet sarcasm detector is pretty crappy even when I'm energetic.
Perhaps a demonstration of its potency is in order? A screenshot, one might suggest, of glowstone in a large room, bereft of windows or natural light. Within the center, yes? And a second screen shot, with this "firestone" of yours. Perhaps then we would see the difference between ten and eleven.

Here are the screenshots:
Qualitatively, it's easier (for myself) to depict Firestone (as shown right) over Glowstone (as shown left)
Firestone has a light radius of 14 blocks...
Which is the same as Glowstone.
[justfornarwhals]However[/justfornarwhals]
Just because they are the same quantitatively doesn't mean that they are identical. I myself have an easier time seeing Firestone over Glowstone because of it's brighter hues.
Also, I will edit the description of Firestone in version 2 making it's "superior" brightness a legend.
I'd say light yellow is easier to see than light yellow embedded in dark red, but I suppose the yellow spots contrast with the dark red and that makes them be perceived as lighter...

At any rate, next version will feature a bumped-up hue, so all of it will be brighter. Because that screenshot was from an edited test-texture I made and forgot to switch back.
I can confirm that this mod works with the aether. it also takes about two hits to kill something from the aether and obsidian armor is superior to firestone armor.
Once I get around to finish tweaking v2.2, it will be 100% independent. Except for ModLoader, of course. Right now it messes with the dx class. :tongue.gif:
Also, that's quite a fancy first post you've got there. +1 coolness to you.
Thats not even possible? :C
Glowstone is measured at 100% Brightness....
Unless its like 200% brightness O_o
EDIT:God dang ninjas....Y u must ninja me?
(10/5/15) If you want to have a laugh, go look at some of my posts from back in ~2010 ( i was 10/11 what can i say)
(02/12/21) cannot believe i still play this game
On another note, this is only the first version. I have yet to add a shovel, axe, pick, hoe, and armor set, as well as a dust-type item.
Or at least, that's my plan.
Yes. Yes I am. (:<

Speaking of...
Version 2.2:
Yes, as due to its special ability.
Added a Firestone Torch which can be toggled on/off
