From what I can tell, I've made the lettuce crop compatible with the Forestry wheat farm. Can someone who knows what they're doing test this? I looked at the Forestry wiki, and I cannot understand how to set up the farm. xD
This is an ID conflict between Jammy's Furniture mod and Harvestcraft, so all you need to do is change the conflicting IDs manually in the config file for either mod or get ID Resolver and it'll do that automatically *sigh* so many of these lol XP
You can download the new 1.6 launcher and snapshot today. Outside of horses, leashes, and haybales, there's also CARPETS!!!!
nice!! oh, and i do believe that the error i was getting was between buildcraft and harvestcraft because i had no issue untill i tried to install buildcraft
I got ID Resolver and assigned ID's for jammys mod automaticly but now this comes up.

hmm i dont quite know what this could be, and it doesnt seem related to Harvestcraft. Make sure all of your mods are installed correctly, make sure you installed forge or modloader correctly, and make sure you have the latest updates for everything.
First: I must say that I ADORE your mods, Harvestcraft especially.
Second: as for recipes for honey, perhaps you could add a way to convert honey into sugar and/or add alternate recipes for any recipe that uses sugar, substituting honey for sugar. You could also add Honey Mustard and Mead (an alcoholic beverage made from honey).
Um... Can someone help me? I added the mod Get All the Seeds! in hopes that I could get some of the hard to get seeds from some of my other mods and some of the less common food seeds from this mod, but when I loaded up the config file, it only has potatoes, carrots, Melons and pumpkin seeds in it. Dose it not work on mod added plants/seeds? Or if it does, how do I get it to work?
Um... Can someone help me? I added the mod Get All the Seeds! in hopes that I could get some of the hard to get seeds from some of my other mods
Howdy! The Get All The Seeds mod specifically says it adds vanilla minecraft seeds (ie, carrots, potatoes, melons etc). If you want seeds to drop from Pam's mod vegetables, fruits, and flowers, check their individual cfg file in your config folder. If it's a non-Pam mod, that mod author has to make them drop. Happy farming!
Would the modified version of earthcraft have the old ores as well? or will it just be the colored stone?
The modified EarthCraft/HearthCraft re-make combo mash-up thingie-majig will basically be all the colored meta-data'd blocks. So, colored stone, colored wood, etc but not the slab or stairs versions of those for now. I won't be re-making the ores from EarthCraft ever because I use Metallurgy 3 exclusively for that and his mod is waaaay better coded than mine was. His armors and tools are actually different! Heh.
HarvestCraft has been one of my favorite mods for a long while and now that it works on SMP I've enjoyed it even more.
Since you're a mod developer, I thought this would be information that might help. Things I like: I love the diverse crops and foods I can make, it feels like it adds a great deal of depth to the game and is overall really fun to play with. Sustainable crops are the best thing ever and I wish there was an option to make it so all the vanilla crops could be this way too. I love that I can find berries and whatnot everywhere, should I need them, and that I can restore one hunger for one fruit/food; I find that very balanced and enjoyable. COTTON IS THE BEST THING EVER. Utility crops are amazing.
Things I don't like: The more complex recipes don't seem worth the trouble and it feels like many of the crops are mostly just reskined versions of something else (food crops and stuff like that at least). Is there a point of making Grape Juice over Strawberry? Do the different yogurts do anything different?
Suggestions:
-A pouch that you can keep all of your seeds/crops in (if you have it in your inventory then it automatically sucks up nearby obtainable seeds/crops) since the mod adds TONS, I've actually went and gotten two other mods to help with inventory space after playing more with HarvestCraft (it feels worth it by far). XD
-Complex recipes that require things like the sauce pan or frying pan could add buffs and restore more hunger or maybe even directly heal the player.
-Maybe a rebalance so that any food that's not fully prepared or uncooked only grants 1-2 hunger. (cooked steaks give 1.5 hunger now but "Steak and Potatoes" or whatever recipe gives 3) or maybe an option to change how much hunger is restored by each food item. (I like it to be harder to stay alive most of the time in subtle ways)
I hope you continue to keep up the wonderful work, you really add a great deal of color to a blocky world and good luck to your donation drive! :'D

(suggests a pouch to hold seeds and crops)
(suggests possible buffs from food)
I do enjoy finding berry bushes everywhere. It's a big improvement on the feel of the game and helps with survivability, although personally I don't really like the one-food-one-hunger thing (it always feels like I've just eaten several fruits for little gain - I always feel like I've got more food than I really have).
I agree with the pouch, though I'd make a seed pouch specifically and possibly a crop-gathering pouch. I wouldn't have a seed pouch gather crops, and I don't know that there needs to be a crops pouch at all. But I wouldn't be against it.
As for buffs from food, I'm with you there. Various people have proposed making the food system more interesting/beneficial. I'm in favor of mini-buffs such as a mild increase in mining speed.
Is there a point of making Grape Juice over Strawberry? Do the different yogurts do anything different?
Does there need to be?
Vanilla Minecraft has three varieties of meat. It's useful in-game as whatever type of food you come across, and useful for variety's sake alone.
If a player wants juice, or yogurt, they can make it out of whatever fruits they have available (utility) or make it out of their favorite fruits (variety and personal preference). Because there are alternative recipes, a player who hates strawberries can make versions using other fruits, and a player who adores strawberries can make strawberry versions.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My YouTube channel is currently on hiatus, but I hope to get back to it at some point. Content is fairly random, but can be enjoyable, and is mostly game footage (mostly random Minecraft clips) from my nephews and me. Most popular MC vid so far is the one Vechs laughed at on Twitter!
I guess I hadn't thought about that, Kilyle and you make a great point.
My main problem is that I was looking at the mod based completely around the mechanics and not really looking at the "flavor" of some of the options! xD I think keeping that in mind will help me to enjoy the mod that much more.
It's a pretty common attitude, that the only benefit is based on game mechanics. I hear it every time I bring up a new suggestion for the game, and people cry "But what does this actually do?" But if you took that attitude to the extreme, we'd only have 1 type of food and like 3 types of blocks! Variety - not overly complex but certainly more than the minimum - is beneficial to the game.
While I've been more open to other modes as of late, I mostly play Minecraft in Survival mode, and my primary method of engagement is Immersion. Having a variety of plants and foods is beneficial to this aesthetic. When I eat in-game foods that I enjoy in real life (say, fresh strawberries), I get sense pleasure and a feeling of self-expression. And if I were to eat a food that I don't like in real life (say, onions), I'd have an aversive experience even if, mechanically, the two foods are identical.
The link there is to an Extra-Credits video. They have several other videos that relate to this topic.
For one, : Getting to eat an enjoyable food is beneficial in and of itself.
For two, the Choice and Conflict episode: Although it's not so much an internal conflict like they discuss, the ability to choose certain categories of foods over others - not based on what's best in terms of game-mechanical benefit, but based on the type of foods I personally enjoy - is a meaningful and enjoyable choice. These foods are and should remain incomparables.
And thirdly, Depth vs. Complexity: By adding several new ingredients and a few new ways to combine foods (cookware), Pam has improved the depth of Minecraft's food/cooking section considerably.
Now, I do have some annoyance from HarvestCraft on this count. Basically, Minecraft is the king of games when it comes to crafting, because 90% of its recipes are intuitively memorable and possible to discover via experimentation (in contrast to just about every other game I've ever played). But when it comes to Pam's recipes, I want to be able to discover the recipes by experimentation, and it's difficult to do so (in my experience), which may indicate too much complexity (too many ways to combine things or the combinations are too odd) or too little complexity (no recipes for sensible combinations), I'm not sure.
I figure I'll put more time into experimentation. And we'll see what comes of that. Certainly her cookware is stuff that I'd probably have been able to figure out on my own if I'd given it more time, so that's a plus.

Honey-Lemon Drops: nice and soothing hard candy for a sore throat after you've been out in the rain all day!
Honey Tea: Because tea is always better when sweetened with honey!
Honey Biscuits: A nice, moist cookie or honey-slathered biscuit that goes well with Honey Tea or Milk, or all by itself.
Candied Walnuts: Walnuts rolled in honey, with some spices. Could also be substituted for regular walnuts in salad recipes.
Honey-As-A-Sugar-Substitute: A crafting recipe that allows you to make Sugar out of Honey. Good for those of us who have mods that require a metric crapton of reeds to make paper out of.

From what I can tell, I've made the lettuce crop compatible with the Forestry wheat farm. Can someone who knows what they're doing test this? I looked at the Forestry wiki, and I cannot understand how to set up the farm. xD
Guessing at HarvestCraft recipe equivalents:
Spicy lemon-honey glaze (honey, oil, lemon, garlic, salt, pepper, spice leaf)
Grilled corn with spiced honey butter (butter, honey, spice leaf, lime, pepper, corn)
Honey-kiwi-raspberry fruit dip (kiwi, raspberry, honey, yogurt)
Honey cloud pancakes (egg, milk, flour, salt, honey, vanilla, butter, berries)
Roasted sweet potato wedges with honey and ginger (sweet potatoes, honey, ginger, oil, spice leaf, black pepper)
