I find Apple's OS prices amusing. They make you pay so much more for air, and many people think it's the OS that's putting on tons of money. But no, it's just the air inside the case.
Thank you for the post! I had thought about meteor showers earlier in development but didn't figure anyone would like them. I also had some smiliar ideas for the plague, except it would be material that had high radiation, that when touched would poison you, but you could also mine it for a new resource :smile.gif:
You know what this needs... randomly generated ruins! just say, small villages and half broken houses! maybe if your lucky there could be some dungeons in them? looks cool though... reminds me of the wastelands wip thingny! just it's actually downloadable. what do you think? ruins? do you like my idea? plz reply.
Thank you for the suggestion, ruins are the next thing I am working on. I also saw the wasteland wip thing after I posted this and I thought "Oh crap did I steal someones idea?".
This has potential! But dont make the houses too obv. make like a dirt ruin and under the dirt ruin theres like a room without roof. Also i thinked of mutanted zombies to destroy dirt and glass blocks so its harder to survive. This whould be a challlange!
The houses won't be very obvious(they're not going to be giant towers in the middle of nowhere), they will have no roof, and parts of the walls will be missing. Inside the ruins will be chests. I thought about basement but that creates some other problems I have to deal with during generation, like houses spawning on cliffs.
Yes, that has been stated many times :smile.gif: I didn't specifically think "FALLOUT" when I built it, but I definitely have taken inspiration from it.
Thanks for the Bonemeal addon :biggrin.gif: I was really hopeful for that one. Now I can get to rebuilding Minecraftia. I'm also very interested in the generation tool. It would really help add new content to my themed SMP areas.

If the world falls to pieces around you, you probably used too much TNT.
Nice mod you have there. It would be a shame if something happened to it... I agree with some humans, add small water sources with grass and trees with leaves, then it will be possible to stay alive. Keep on your good work. :smile.gif:
(How do i get water?)
In the next update 1x1 pools of water will sometimes spawn near cacti, since they are pretty much the only living thing left. Also, you can still find underground streams I believe :smile.gif:

Yep, I'll be looking into the generation tool, but it's still on the backend of stuff I need to do(first thing is getting everything stable and some new features and content).
Okay, after thinking about this for a little while now I have come up with some ideas:
Oasis:"In some legends it is told that the radiation has not extened it's reach through out the entire world. It is said that a single seed had survived and after all these years it has grown into a forest of some sorts! These occurences are very rare and perhaps something more evil has also grown along side it, and it is very territorial."
(It is posible to find a small patch of land that has some grass and a tree or two with leaves. Maybe even some flowers. Also, a new mob could spawn around grass, this mob could have a good amount of health and is very fast but only does a heart or two of damage/hit.)
Mutation of Light:"In some cases oasis' have been purged by the radiation. The outcome is not too dire it seems. The leaves are said to be as hard as rock and to give off a light that drives the monsters of the dark away. It was once said that these leaves were only found in hell before, but as you can see, this is hell. These are as rare as diamonds it seems. Though, remember the foul protector of the original oasis? The radiation has made that nastier as well..."
(One out of, oh say, 100 oasis' are "mutated" to bear trees that have Glowstone Leaves, along with grass and normal trees, and a mob similar to the protector, only more health and double attack. The equaliser is that it is more rare to spawn than the oasis its-self.)
What lies beneeth:"This radiation has seemed to affect all it touches. The simple stone beneeth the ground is said to bear more fruit within its core. Though in some cases the ore that was already there seems to have changed. It is harder than before and are stonger when extracted, but when touched seem to give off a heat that would burn the hardest off materials."
(Thr ground has more ore in it and a new ore that can either be a new and effective ore, like a stonger iron, or a new fuel source, that is a efficiant as a lava bucket, or a new block that hurts things that walk on it.)
That's all I have for right now, feel free to use it without my permission. I wouldn't blame you if this is too impossible of a request but if you could add at least one of these things in it would really make this mod better to some degree.
Silver_Weasel, thank you for making something so ridiculously awesome. I've been looking for something to help me prepare for post-apocalyptic builds since Alpha. I tried out your mod last night and was very impressed, and I cannot wait until more is added. Very nice job.
I also like to dabble in modifying Minecraft's textures, and have quite a few texture packs I've put together myself. If you would ever like to make a collaborative effort in a texture pack for this, fire me off a private message and I'd be happy to help in any way I can!
What about, instead of getting water from springs near cactus, you could use a bucket on a cactus for water? (im thinking for survivlism) or mabye just a bowl, so it cant place the water but you have water. (you could then place the bowl of water into the bucket filling it by thirds) it would be harder to get water from a cactus than from like milk. (mabye 1 in 100)
For food. . . .i have to go with someones suggestion. Bugs and carrion that run on the ground, and new plants. The new zombie should DEFINATLY be able to dig through dirt, wood, and stone. doors too.
What about rare towns, that are abandoned, but have chests or somthing. like a ghost town. if you need a good schematic i can provide one.

I didn't retexture the clouds, I edited minecrafts sky code to be darker red and green. Although the fog is still light blue it seems. I will look around and see if I can change it.
Ok :smile.gif: Sorry if my other post made me sound angry.
And now for anyone who cares, here is a picture of the destroyed houses that can spawn above ground! They are semi-rare and don't contain much(less then dungeons) but I kind of like them. The floor is always wood and the walls can be made out of Mossy Cobblestone, Cobblestone, or Planks.
Includes:
-Water springs spawning near cacti
-Updated Dungeons, includes more survival-oriented loot and naturally spawning beds!
-New ruined houses with small amounts of loot in them.
-Optional Mutated mobs addon created. This is very WIP and only replaces the zombies and creepers so far.

i really want to download it but if i generate new terrain in my desert map it will ruin it :/ so do you think you can fix it so you can haave the option of choosing a normal map or the wasteland generator?
thanks

You really screwed something up here. Running this absolutely murders my framerate, I'm talking 50fps to 12fps. It's not the actual terrain either, once I roll back to a version without your mod they work just fine and without any lag.
Crap. Are you using mutated mobs, and did you download the latest version?
Has anyone else gotten a massive framerate drop like aymanar? I really need to know, I haven't been able to reproduce it fully, but my FPS does drop from about 75 ish to 65+ ish on installing the mod.

Nope, my framerate has been fine :3 and im using everything but bonemeal makes grass. also, a few posts up, im wondering if itll make finite water the mod. yes :3. I really want these 2 to be compatable, because this + survivalism + Finite water = JESUS HARD! ive been survivng off of rain water. pure luck.

1. I am looking into making it possibly be a mod loader mod. The problem is I haven't found any documentation or tutorials yet on creating mods that replace some of the original source code. Most modloader mods just add new content to the game. I will continue looking however. Also this SHOULD work with other modloader mods.
2. I'm thinking about it, it might be cool to have a desolate and barren dimension. But what would the portals be made out of? :smile.gif:
Maybe make it out of sandstone, i like it conceptually but it seems too easy to make. Maybe make the item to start the portal be hard to make.

Ok, I will look into it, shouldn't be to hard, I just have to learn about the minecraft GUI.

Are you asking about the mod finite liquid? Or do you mean regular minecraft liquid generation?
Also, the mod had an article on a French website, which is really cool :smile.gif:
